I think the reason why he did another new version of this song is because It's really hard to sing live (especially the original acoustic version, it was really high). So he has to record a newer version that's easier to sing on live performances so the audience wont compare the live performance with the album version. I really prefer the second version because the vocals were better. The original acoustic version is the best for me. (remember the da-da-da parts..? <3)

As much as I love Secondhand Serenade, I really don't care too much for this version. His voice sounds way too forced and strained. To the point where his voice is almost horse/raspy sounding. There are quite a few pitch problems too. In my opinion, I think he should have just stuck with the version that's on the album.
