As an aspiring actor, I too worship Mickey Rourke. Should I ever get to meet him, I'd definitely would like to know why he lost interest in the business after being on top of the world. Nine 1/2 Weeka was made 23 years ago. Mr. Rourke and Ms. Basinger were in their early 30s. Sorry, but this movie was waaaay before its time and Hollywood was even more political than it is today.

The movie speaks volumes about so many things -- things that were still being swept under the rug in the 80s.

He is. I think that every person who has been down and out can relate to him, he seems more real because he's been there. I'm not trying to say that the others are shallow and privileged, especially RDJ who had fought his own demons, but Rourke appears to have much more depth than most actors today.
