  • good cover....and no offense....but this doesnt hold a candle to the original

  • @jooby24 I love Brand New(especially Jesse Lacey), but I do agree, Love Spit Love's is better.

  • i like this better than the original c: am i the only one?

  • @xxsarahhxx19 No.

  • It is so stereotypical mainstream to say that the original is better

  • so awesome this song ._.

  • this is sooooo gooooddd

  • this is sooooo gooooddd

  • sorry, cannot match the original at all.

  • who is the original by?

  • Nope, too damn clean. This song needs be sung with regret and emotion, not neat and correct. It sounds like a high school choir concert.

  • Jesse Lacey sings this song beautifully, I am in love.

  • @PhukAdvertisements look up sowing season live in electric factory... you tell me theres no emotion. jesse lacey has grown up since this. he has incredible vocal abilitys

  • @PhukAdvertisements

It's pretty clear you haven't listened to other songs by brand new.

There's so much emotion. Give music a chance before you slate it.

  • @PhukAdvertisements dude you have no idea what you are talking about. go buy a few albums and listen, you will find not many other artists give the emotion this guy does. as for the song, it is really well produced and i think his voice sounds soothing

  • @PhukAdvertisements

Are you retarded? Brand New is one of the few bands with any mainstream attention with real emotion.

Go listen to "Jesus" and tell me there's no emotion there.

  • @xVishDaFish Look at that, my comment has received too many negative votes... what abunch of dumbasses. You morons need to deal with it, it's my OPINION, get over it & go bother somebody else you dumbass losers.

  • @PhukAdvertisements

That's cool. But for real, listen to their album TDAGARIM and if you still think they have no emotion.... fine then it's your opinion. I think this song/album aren't accurate of the more mature Brand New.

  • @xVishDaFish Okay, I'll go check out some of their other songs... maybe I'm being a little too biased because the original is so great? I'll go check out some of their other songs...

  • @xVishDaFish Agree....the Devil and God and Raging Inside of Me is my favourite album of all time. If you listen to that you'll very emotive lyrics and singing. You Won't Know is awesome song :-) as are Sowing Season, Millstone, Jesus, Degausser, Limousine, Luca, The Archer's Bow has broken and Handcuffs.

  • @simonlarkins17

Everything besides Welcome to Bangkok? Haha.

  • the line in the beggining is about questioning faith, NOT questioning religion. it's about losing faith not only in God, or whatever higher power you believe in, but also about questioning faith in yourself. at least that's how i see it. this is a great cover in my opinion.

  • I enjoy this version more than the original.

  • Fuck this stupid garage band. Don't compare them to Richard Butlar

  • this sucks so much

  • @amc987654321 You suck so much.

  • wait...why is there dislikes? what is there to dislike about this?

  • @videospanky839 It disregards religion so easily. I like the song, but it cuts deep for some people.

  • Such a pretty song : ) I love the original and the cover.

  • Pretty good for a cover!

  • At least put "love spit love" or "Richard Butler" and "COVER SONG" on here somewhere.

  • This version isn't anywhere close to as good as the original. If you can't improve it or add something to it why remake it? Just my opinion.

  • @umadnerd ew no one asked u.

  • @gymnasttx333 how dare u u fuckin cunt bitch i know everything there is to know about music

  • @umadnerd lol. so mad for no reason. that's pretty funny.

  • @umadnerd lmfao ok i doubt it, but you keep thinkin that skippy.

  • Not only are the lyrics meaningful, they are genius, so well written in almost every song. Not many people can do that.

  • his lyrics are too fucking true for people to understand

  • this song is in that movie angus

  • @chamisch cover band?? they do a cover here and there. but there is NO FUCKING WAY Brand New is a cover band. They have one of the most original sounds ever,

If you took your ignorance-fill head out your ass and clicked on some of there other stuff you'd know.

  • This makes me think of Walter.

    STFU DONNY!

  • @fersureXmaybeX hahahaha why in the world does this make you think of Big Lebowski??

  • @kjs1324 Because he says "am I wrong?" a lot. lol

  • @fersureXmaybeX Ohhh haha, I wasn't thinking in the Dude's voice so I def didn't get that at first...

  • @fersureXmaybeX

No, Walter, you're not wrong, you're just an asshole!

  • most bands I think, cover a song from a band because they were probably a major influence..if they want to cover LSL then who cares...besides LSL grew from the psychedelic furs, and they influenced a SHIT ton of bands...

  • Stop crybabying because you think it's a bad cover, go away, no-one values your opinions.

  • Its Love Spit Love, If it were gay

  • Whats with all these cover bands, where is the originality?

  • @chamisch whos the cover band?

  • @chamisch This is actually part of an album Brand New did with another band back in maybe '99 or something. There were 4 songs on the album and each band wrote an original song and did a cover just for the album. As far as I know this is their only recorded cover; live shows are another story.

  • @Neilsdeal They have at least one other recorded cover. The B-side to the quiet things that no one ever knows is a cover of the song Car by Built to Spill. Worth checking out, it's a killer song by a killer band, and Jesse does it justice.

  • @TheEmageskater lol smooth come back you fucking baby. try again later when your balls drop.

  • @TheEmageskater lol smooth come back you fucking baby. try again later when your balls drop.

  • @TheEmageskater lol smooth come back you fucking baby. try again later when your balls drop.

  • @TheEmageskater LOL sounds like your the butthurt one to me. cry moar because you shouldnt have to see comments that say they dont like the same song as you do. fuckin baby.

  • @TheEmageskater i used the word so i must know what it means. they are allowed to post wither you fucking like it or not. you get to voice that you like the song. they should be allowed to voice that they dont. if you dont like what they have to say you can always go fuck yourself and not read it. you know you do have that option. you might not like it but so fucking what. but you want to control what other people get to say in vids posts and thats bullshit. you can say what u want but they cant

  • @TheEmageskater because they watched the video to see if they would like it or not. you get to voice you like the song so they should get to voice that they dont. so dont be a fucking communist.

  • looks like the dunes of Tobay or Gilgo beach!

  • Like the original better..Richard Butler has a more distinct voice...Not to mention, He's just cooler..

  • @bunnyhead71 I get more emotion from this song

  • @bunnyhead71 agreed

  • Prefiero la original de Love spit love

  • i dont mind someone doing a cover of this... it means they have decent taste in music

  • @TheRattyrattyrat wow clever remark why do i talk to stupid fucks again?

  • @TheRattyrattyrat why would you insult a great band doing a cover of one your favorite bands? its not like hes doing a bad job its sexy as hell.

  • @TheRattyrattyrat you should probably just die...

  • This makes me want to watch the movie "Angus."

  • Dude I love you I'm watching it right now.

  • For a cover it's pretty solid, but the original is a classic.

  • @BigSilky85 I agree

  • @BigSilky85 Oh i didint know it was a cover , Who plays the original ? :)

  • @KidInThePark a band called Love Spit Love.

  • i have seriously jacked off to this song for the past 3 hours

  • @VALObrand I know how that feels... It's euphoric.

  • @VALObrand you sir, are amazing (x

  • @VALObrand

    lmfao

  • I have seriously listen to this song for the past 3 hours

  • i <3 Brand New.

  • first of all brand new is an AMAZING band.

they are more original than any of the sell outs that are high in fame right now.

like lady gaga or justin beaver,

try getting ur mouth off some dudes dick and try listening to their other songs,

you might start to realize that they are much more than "shit".

  • does anyone know when they covered this?

  • @limousine15 according to wikipedia brand new and then labelmate safety in numbers teamed up and recorded an album. each band did a cover song and a new song. it was released in 2002 and is titled brand new/ safety in numbers.

  • the kinda have a less-edgy blink-182 type sound, amirite?

  • @PurpleDrankable amiwrong?

  • Am I wrong??

  • @JerseySkate Figures.. you're from Jersey.

  • @OnMyOwn19 Why does it figure? I live in the greatest state of the country.

  • what album is this from?

  • This is retarded, absolutely and completely retarded. They should never have done this to a great song.

  • "try to write a new one" ..are you serious? have you even read some of the lyrics this band has written? where have you been the last 10 years?

  • I'ma let you finish Brand New...but Love Split Love's version of this was the best of all time....

Who am I kidding...this one OWNS it !

  • This is incredible... I loved the original but this is even better.... brand New is the greatest

  • It is easy to copy a song. Try to write a new one. By the way, Richard Butler's voice is way better than yours.

  • @stewartsfour Well, yeah, I suppose four albums of original material is easy to overlook. It's not even as if Brand New are hard to find information on.

I'm not saying I think this version's better- I don't- but "It is easy to copy a song. Try to write a new one." Really? Because I think Brand New have written a few over the years.

  • @stewartsfour hahahhahahahahahaha, I just listened to the "original". His voice sucks, maybe you have like a British accent fetish or something, but Lacey kicks the SHIT out of Butler in vocal talent.

  • Its hard to live up to Richard Butler , but nice try...

  • @blurrybigfoot74 brand new covers songs as tributes to the bands who wrote them. that's why it's so similar. they did change a few chords before the chorus though, probably inadvertently, since their style is to play things by ear focusing more no emotion. it's sad people make this into an argument when brand new was just trying to play a song they loved from their teenage years.

  • this song is like a good women..... you always want more!

  • play crack the sky is one of the most beautiful songs ever written

  • @martinspoonboy 100% completely agree.

  • Love the original, but awesome cover, Great job!!

  • man this song is so addictive :)

  • As a fan of the original I think this cover is awesome.

  • When I heard another band covered this song I thought it would be cool to hear, but they never really changed it. Most bands put a little spin on a song to make it their own.

  • Well, I'll give them credit for having the balls to attempt to cover this song, and it's obvious they like the song, but it's no LSL....

  • This recording is utter shit.

  • @fixmeplz your ignorant

  • kids these days can't come up with something original... sad.

  • @fixmeplz these guys are like 30. theyre very respected msuicians

  • @fixmeplz Do some research before posting ignorant shit. Brand new are one of the most original musicians ever.

  • @fixmeplz

kids these days can't come up with a thought that isn't ignorant as shit... sad.

Brand New is one of the most original bands out there. As if you haven't noticed, they covered LSL just because they liked it. they're not taking credit for it.

PLEASE listen to Deja Entendu, The Devil & God are Raging Inside Me, Your Favorite Weapon or Daisy and you will see how original they are. way to be ignorant.

  • The original is much better , they fucked this up and should be ashamed

  • i know this song is a cover..but they did one hell of a cover!! this song is so beautiful...

  • one of the most underrated bands in my opinion

  • @wonderandwhisper dumbass

  • @wonderandwhisper theyre not underrated theyre just not well known. everyone who knows of them realizes theyre brilliance.

  • @wonderandwhisper i know more good underrated badns trust me ;)

  • I miss the days when music wouldn't cause religious arguments..

  • this is awsome!:]

  • One of the best lyrical bands of all time. They don't write that radio friendly cliche stuff. Their music makes you sit back and think "what are they getting at". Their music is better than seeing a shrink.

  • @salukistyle...i totally agree...but this song is actually a cover...so they didn't write the lyrics.....but yea, they do have a good lyrics on the stuff they write

  • haha anyone that would compare brand new to the backstreet boys clearly has absolutely no clue what they are talking about...which makes your ignorance all the more amusing

  • Remember when Love Spit Love did this song and it was AWESOME! To bad some people will only know this.

  • @StephHizzle agreed, Richard Butler gives so much heart to his vocals

  • Decent cover.

  • WTF. They butchered the original. Now the new gens will think this is how it really sounded. Like shit. This backstreet boy wannabes want the teenage female audience. At least backstreet boys came up with their own piece of crap pop.

    Look up Love Spit Love.

  • you're right, i over reacted to your arrogance and i'm sorry. the point i'm trying to make is the actual composition of brand new's arrangement is better. if you read the sheet music from each version brand new's would be better. you listen to music for recording quality and the singer's voice, and that's fine. it's your opinion. any radio station would agree with you. but trying to tear down a band who made a literally musically better arrangement is both juvenile and unintelligent.

  • what is that a boy band? it sucks! Love spit love rules!

  • its not theirs. and besides, its nowhere near as good as anything on deja or the devil and god from a musical or lyrical perspective. the vocal melody is amazing though!

  • Absolutely one of their greatest song

  • @pbunch333

Too bad it's not their song. It's a cover.

  • @pbunch333 NOT their song

  • *sick

  • i'm so pick of people who listen to music based on recording quality. grow up, go listen to the horrible over produced and unimaginative post joshua tree u2 albums, and leave brand new to the people who actually like the compositional aspects of music.

  • @F81guitar7 wait wait wait.....dude music isent about how well u can write a song....or the fact that u can compose a song better....its about the spirit u can put into ur music.....while i cant deny the fact that this version is put together better....its not......love spiy love added that something which cant be examened on paper.....

  • I love it.

  • Wow. They so don't make this music anymore. Hahah old... things sure do change

  • learn to listen to music for the melodies and rhythms instead of for the recording quality and corporate relevance and then you'll understand why this covers amazing. if love spit love recorded the song this way you'd like it better than the original. i don't know if you'll even understand this statement, but you need to get your head around music instead of sound.

  • Comment removed

  • @F81guitar7 no I wouldn't. You are pretty arrogant to tell someone how they should listen to a song and what they should like. Music instead of sound?? What??

  • My gosh! This cover is really BAD!!! Listen to the original song and see what these guys destroyed. Am i wrong - love spit love.

  • brand new didn't write this song just so it's perfectly clear. the original is by a band called love spit love. don't bother looking it up though, because brand new changed some of the chords to match the descending vocal pattern, so the original sounds flat and less thought out by comparison. great song though.

  • one of my favorite early 90s tracks

  • This song perfectly describes life right now. Because life in some ways just narrows down to luck, whether bad or good, and we've all had bad luck in our lives and this song describes those shitty times, just lay the blame on luck. Brand new is amazing and their lyrics still cease to amaze me.

  • @zeronyskater

They'd better "still cease to amaze" you. They didn't write it.

  • @zeronyskater Yes, I agree the lyrics are great and the original song is excellent! Love spit love amazed me when i first listened to them...This cover is really really bad...

  • BRAND NEW > ANYTHING ELSE :P

  • this song is beautiful. love it. i think i've listened to this song about 20 times in a row, haha. such a good song though

  • this song is amazing. love it.

  • i love this song

  • nice song, a song for a sleeping heart!

  • whered the audio go?

  • Comment removed

  • This is such a band :O

  • Just, lay the blame on luck...

  • Anyone who covers a Richard Butler song is OK by me. I should know.

  • Angus anyone ?
