From when Bush was Prez: Since 2001 even with recrd low inflation US fedral spndng has increasd by 28.8% 19.7% in real dollars with nondefense discretionary grwth of 35.7% 25.3% in real $ the highst rate of government growth since the prsidncies of Nixon and Johnson. This resulted in the lrgst budget deficits in US history, an estimated 520 billion in fiscal year 2004. The projctd spndng for 2005 is a conservtive estimte, since it doesnt inclde at least 50 billion for the 2005 cost of the war
I'm voting libertarian next election. I was never a Dem but the Republican party has lost their way. They don't stand for small government anymore, and they're too worried trying to appease the "Religious Right."
i wish big media would have spent more time on alternative candidates such as mr barr. the usa is in BIG trouble right now, and more in the future. the value of your dollar has decreased in a huge way, and its directly effecting us here- in canada. that trillion and a bit of bailout money is just paper, the fed reserve doesnt have to prove it has gold to backup that money. so your dollar will continue to fall- spending MUST be controled and soon, or the usa wont be the superpower in 10years.
If he can't be president, I hope he goes back into congress. It seems to me that we need people like him to override idotic presidential spending and keep the dollar value high!
It's not too late to vote for Libertarian Bob Barr for President of the United States!!! So, if you want smaller government, lower taxes, more freedom, rule by constitutional law, a 3rd political party in power, and 'utmost competency' in President... vote for Bob Barr on Tuesday November 4th!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Barr, you make me sick! You called for Clinton's impeachment before you got busted by Larry Flynt for the same damn thing you accused Clinton! When is the Lib party going to stop housing rejects from the Democrat & Republican parties and find a real candidate that can win? Who's next to join, John Edwards?? Sen.Mike Gravel should have won the nomination. It is disgusting that Barr became the nominee and this is why no one takes the 3rd party seriously anymore!
Looks like a very quite campaign headquarters. Depressing. I had high hopes for this campaign but the snubbing of Ron Paul was a serious gaffe. Oh well, there is always 2012.
I know. I am sad because I have a lot of respect for both of them -- and we really need to be uniting in liberty, not dividing, because there's not many of us
What is odd, and unreported by the mainstream media, is that there are many nations turning to a Libertarian style tax code.
One Example:
Bulgaria: Flat Tax Code of 10%
How in the freakin' heck can the USA, The same United States of AMERICA that gave England the boot of a 2% tea tax, now have a tax code that appears totalitarian-socialistic compared to that of BULGARIA, a former Soviet Client State.
Four years ago I voted for Badnarik (Libertarian candidate) for U.S. President. I was so disappointed at 0.5% of the vote he got. This year, I'm more optimistic... hopefully it will catch on and build momentum for the next election cycle.
Don't just look at third parties for president, look at them in local races too. They can win sanitation board, community college district, school board, state legislature, city council,... Over 200 libertarians are serving in any capacities across the nation.
This'll be after the 5 trillion they'll need to throw at the financial system as they bailout any and all possible. At some point stocks will crash hard again, then prices will rise painfully high and America will begin to wake up. We'll see Obama squirm as the U.S. defaults next year and hyper inflation goes ballistic. Barr can come in and clean up in 2012.
He could easily do so if he were to rejoin the GOP and run as a republican like Ron Paul did. IMO I think if he would've ran as a republican this year he probably would've been the GOP nominee.
The GOP is dead imo. We shouldn't bail them out like we shouldn't bail out wall street. The way the media and the GOP has treated Ron Paul is appalling. The GOP has abandoned their platform of smaller government, Ron Paul hasn't. Ron Paul should've been the GOP nominee. I seriously doubt with the way they treated Ron Paul that Bob Barr would have faired well either with the GOP. Bob Barr left the GOP cuz it strayed off course. Or the way he puts it, the GOP left him.
The problem with third party candidates is not that too many people vote for them, it's that not enough people do.

Technically, the libertarian style tax code would be to have no taxes at all.

Barr would school the other major party candidates in a debate. Just bring the report and put them to shame.

Barr has got the best communication skills I've ever seen in a politician.

He's the ONLY one I've seen with any good communications skills!

That $200 billion savings is hopefully a lowball estimate. I have faith that if Barr is elected, he'll do his best to cut even more.
