@SonofAbel Believe me, I know how you feel. Never before or again I watched a movie I hated and admired so much at the same time. And the ending? Visually stunning, similar to that of "2001 - A space Odyssey" but five times as incomprehensible and pretty sick to boot. Asukas final line sums it up pretty well.

Thank God for the Rebuild-Movies - lets hope Anno has a more satisfying ending in store this time around, not one that lets fans grab their suicide-equipment afterwards.

Sure, the first time I watched it made me depressed, but the 2nd, 3rd, etc. times I saw the message of hope and joy for being alive and able to live out your life. And that no matter what, there is the hope that perhaps, just perhaps, we can understand each other better.

@BleachedFilm I'm also interested to see how Rebuild turns out as well, though somehow I doubt it will be as profound as End of Eva. Rebuild in my opinion is a simplification of the original series, to make the messages and themes more obvious. Though that's not an entirely bad thing.

The sea of LCL contains most of the souls on Earth so aslong as those souls can create an A.T. Field they'll come back as good as new. There's no Adam and Eve thing going on at the end.

The part where the brass comes in at 2:46 is the exact, real climax of the story and the song. They did a great job on EoE and the soundtrack IMO. This kind of anime is my favorite.
