I've always been a huge Beach Boy fan... ever since I was in diapers, my dad was playing Beach Boy records for me, and that's how I grew up... Even when I was little I knew about the problems that Brian had, and it always made me sad, and still does to this day... I give this man so much credit... everytime I see vids of him, or hear him sing I just wanna give him a big hug and tell him how loved and respected he is by his fans

Everytime I listen to this I am reminded of the delicious era of 60s music. I love that look ("What the hell was that?") at 2:55 when the pianist plays a sour note.

That was "the look" that the Beach Boys dreaded during a live performance.

This "music making at home" version is wonderful to hear. Hearing Brian sing and continue creating makes me very happy. One, because its beautiful and two, because he went through all kinds of obstacles and has returned to doing what he loves and we love. About his voice, its hard to understand how people expect someone pushing seventy to have a choirboy voice and hit the high notes. Tenors in the opera loose some range also. Its called Life. Artists make it work for them, like Brian Wilson.

not necessarily, some of brian's problems were from his upbringing and also, because he got into drugs. not just weed..... heavy duty drugs. but what happened happened.  who knows, maybe, if he never took drugs.... the music would have been different. the beach boys, aka brian wilson, was and still is..... the number one band in american history. ok, ok, at least in my opinion. surf's up!!

You will see "The Look" that he gave to the Beack Boys when on stage and they made a mistake or sang a sour note.....Brian was painfully honest, and had little tolerance for the guys when they did not rehearse or made mistakes during a performance. Paul McCartney tried to enforce this standard in the recording studio, but after 99 takes of "Obla-Di-Obla-Da" Lennon lost his patience and said the next take is FINAL no matter what.

This footage from mid 2001 is totally fascinating !! God - They all look so much younger .. only some 8 years ago. As GOOD as this session is ... it's also easy, by today's comparison, to see that BW has indeed come along in leaps & bounds since then. Today, his voice is purer, sweeter ; he's far more comfortable & happier, performing on-stage. He's expelled even more of his demons since 2001, & just look at his masterpiece achievements since then .. Pet Sounds + Lucky Old Sun. Amen BW !

Great Video! This is one of my all time favorite songs. Funny story - I read an article about the stereo remix of Petsounds - Mark Linnet (?) I believe was the engineer, and he confirmed that some of the backup's were in Sanish. However, I actually had the oportunity to speak with Brian Wilson about 2 years ago (Birthday resent from my wife - we donated to his Hurricane Katrina fund and he called to say "thank you")- I asked him about this very thing and he denied the Spanish backups! Go figure!
