  • but you definitely have to know what the breed is about before you get one, I'm glad I did my research otherwise I feel I wouldn't have been able to raise her as well as I have =-)

  • @ChreeDizzy420 I agree with Blazegirl about that, I have a 2 year old girl who's about 13 inches and weighs in at 15 lbs. I thought she was under weight because most Shiba owners say theirs weigh between 20-30, but the vet said that she's at a perfect weight and build. So it all really depends, I can say from experience though that they are very high maintenance, she acts like a rebellious teen at times lol. Then again I wouldn't have my baby girl any other way! They're magnificent dogs,

  • I really want one. but they shed to much. :(

  • Black Hayate?

  • @chocoberry, it sounds like u have a handful. I think u need to do more training with your Shiba, exercise him more and learn from other Shiba owners on how to properly correct him. Do not use Cesar Millan techniques...join a Shiba meetup group and post on Shiba chat forums....good luck.

  • @yamamom08 finaly someone who understands that Cesar gives bad techniques!! thanks!!!

  • my shiba looks the same! but he nev lets me touch him. he jumps on me and scratches me and humps my leg. and digs holes and is a naughty boy. and he escaped from our garden like 10x and does the shiba scream during bath time and when i put his harness on . totally independent. generally a pain in the ass but he is totally cute!

  • @chocoberry99 - I'm with yamamom08. Exercise is key with a digger/humper/scratcher/jumper!

And awesome toys like this one in the video - keeps them occupied doing something you want them to vs. doing something naughty.

  • How big do they get? I want one but my mom says they're to big and furry.

  • @NothinButPow I'd suggest doing a lot of research. Shibas aren't a typical dog breed - they are very independent, aloof, high prey drive, and they shed A LOT. They are not for a first time dog owner. I suggest you do a lot of research on the breed. I researched, spoke to shiba owners, etc. for over two years before getting my firts shiba. A good place to start is the NSCA (National Shiba Club of America) to read up on shiba traits, temperament, etc.

  • @NothinButPow the males are 14 to 16 inches tall and weigh about 23 pounds, females are 13 to 15 inches tall and weigh about 17 pounds.

  • @NothinButPow oh, and yes they are furry and shed, but don't shed WAY too much

  • My Shiba is 11 weeks old and looks just like this! Do you know if they get big?

  • @ChreeDizzy420 Shiba size can vary somewhat. My shiba inu, Deshi, the one featured in this video weighs 29 lbs as an adult. For the standard info on height, weight, etc. check out the National Shiba Club of America website.

  • how old is the pup in this video?

  • @Gabelcat He is about 10-12 weeks old here.

  • Hey nice Black and Tan you've got there we also have a black and tan :)

  • @TBlayde LOL.

  • i love everythin' but de music..

  • very beautiful doggie! <3<3 I love dogs -^^-

  • Do you remember what size toy this is?

  • @LycheeWhore It was the large sized one.

  • wow I have to say you have a very good looking black shiba! where'd you get it?

  • I have a black Shiba inu and that was her FAVORITE toy ever, she still carries around the shredded remains of the stump. the chipmunks have long been destroyed. We'll have to buy her a new one soon. Soooo cute...

  • aww your dog is soo cute :)

  • Thanks. :)

  • WOW! tht looks like my young shiba mojo, he has the exact same coloring

  • this dog looks exactly like my dog, daquiri! they must be twins =)! and Daquiri is a pomerainion / black mix!!
