  • Штирлиц молодой

  • This brings tears to my eyes..

  • I love the way this movement goes back and forth between major and minor keys. You start to expect one thing and you suddenly get something different and surprising! It's really thrilling.

  • I'm playing this in school. :3

  • Had a classical music listening class and this is one of song i remember the most.

  • a bit too fast, I think

  • What must it be like to hold such talent within one's heart and soul, to have the ability to create a thing of beauty? We can't touch it, yet it touches each of us in its own way.

  • A praise to life that made me cry

  • aimez vous brahms ? Amore a prima vista,Comprato disco di Toscanini per 4200 lire e mia madre in fabbrica guadagnava 1200 lire al giorno.Non lo mollerei per ... dedica per pietro donnini

  • I'm in love with this, I just played it on flute.

  • i love watchin an orchestra...its like 5 different bodys out into 1

  • the opening to this is absolutely beautiful. I shed a few truck sized buckets of tears and then died due to the amazingness of the beginning of this

  • Beautiful...

    & great to dance to.

     2 in one <3

  • Opening cello melody just gives me the chills. By the time the violins take it you just feel like you're floating.

  • This music by Brahms is truly beautiful. However, I feel the sound quality of this recording gives the music a hollow and almost woody quality where some of the rich expressiveness is lost.Just my opinion.

  • I-T-S A-W-E-S-O-M-E-!-!-!

  • Sublime. Brahms music moves me like no other. Tchaikovsky is a close second with Bach.

  • It was a beautiful piece and I loved every minute of it... until the A-hole in the front bumped the mic... way to go buddy

  • So beautiful, it is sublime.

  • İ love you.

  • This movement fills your heart like nothing else in the world.

  • U Must Really Not Like Music To Dislike This.

  • This tune never ceases to bring a lump in my throat. A MASTERFUL piece of pure emotion. No computers, no samples, no pro tools.......JUST A PURE GIFT FROM GOD. Now, one can truthfully ascribe the word 'genius' here.

  • I SIMPLY ADORE THIS!

  • the end of the most beautiful french film: Gainsburg

  • reaction to zporobija: I have known this feeling for more than forty years.

  • best piece of music ever written by brahms. :)

  • love the tempo. Perfect. Not all the conductors dare to conduct a real poco allegreto

  • @1udwi6 doesnt seems like allegreto.

  • I LIKE IT!!!

  • It is an awesome piece of work!

  • Composicion muy sentida.

En definitiva el sinfonismo y el romanticismo en un estado limpio y claro.

¡Por supuesto que llega,es parte del colectivo sentimental!.

  • heart-wrenching performance....

  • Ohhh Brahms....so beautiful. I can't even explain it in words....<3

  • It's CLARA Schumann, not Sarah:)

  • I love Brahms because his love for Sarah Schumann and his friendship with Schumann. I feel his passion in his masterpieces. This symphony is beautiful and tender.

  • @MsHotarubi i thought it's CLARA?

  • This is my favorite Brahms Symphony (and the least popular). It is so because of this, the Third Movement; Brahms' statement of his love (unrequited) for Sarah Schumann. If my memory serves me correctly, this movement is supposed to be p"oco allegretto." It is anything but that in this performance. I recommend the magnificent performances of Giulini and Klemperer if on wishes to hear this Symphony done the way it was intended.

  • Damned never made that connection. Genius sergio genius indeed.

  • i'm not crazy : click on the "jane birkin" song "baby alone in babylone" by serge gainsbourg..the sme melody ...sergio you're genius!

  • baby alone in babylone! the serge gainsbourg cover! great!!!!

  • Where have i heard this before? what movies has it been used in?

  • @illusion484

It has been used in various movies and also in the Civilization 4 Soundtrack.

    Movies include "Factotum"(2005)

  • @illusion484 Santana used it. Love of my life, with Dave Matthews.

  • @illusion484 I first heard it in 'Undercurrent', 1946. :)

  • hungarian 16 is really nice

and i have to admit i only know this from civ 4... but that's not a bad reason

  • @screwthehelloff

Hehe, everyone that listens to this Symphony first time always has the feeling that they've already heard it somewhere else. Kinda weird.

I also heard it from civ 4

  • Those last ten measures or so... that build!!!! YES!!!

  • The moment I hear the first few notes, my body becomes almost dead and my soul overwhelmed with this beauty.

  • You probably have the same feeling with Brahms' Hungarian Dance No 1 too! I also like Nigel Hess' piece in 'Ladies in Lavender' performed by Joshua Bell.

  • @zporobija

Those first few notes are astonishing.

  • @zporobija please get some help. please Mr. Brahms wouldn't want it any other way............

  • .. to leavemealone2006

for your info.. this movement is called POCO allegretto.. thats why its not so fast.. i think brahms's better in his slower music.. =)

yea, rubato[s] will be better but i personally think that brahms' not very good in his rubato[s] don't think he's very flexible in his tempo like other composers. 'll prefer faure, ravel and tchaikovsky for the emotionals climate. and i think their rubatos are beautiful!

  • Absolutely, but the 3rd mvment of Brahm's 3rd has some of the most beautiful melodies in music. Period.

  • adding poco before allegretto means that it should be a LITTLE slower than allegretto. That is true.

My point still stands that performers often slow down music so much that the composer's original intention is lost. A perfect example is Barber's Adagio for Strings. Most people play it as a largo.

Of course, that is up to the performers, but personally, I sometimes want to hear the music how the composer intended it to be played.

  • I'm not educated in music but that didn't stop me from enjoying this piece, its so beautiful and soothing.

  • Brahms is a god.

It's ... There's no words to describe this beauty.

  • Ich habe noch nie in meinem Leben schöner gehört als das... das schönste Solo für Horn... ich konnte nie bis Ende spielen...

  • Bahms finest hour

  • gorgeous, sumptuously so

  • I think the tempo is okay, but I think a little rubato here and there would make it a lot more beautiful - and the horns need to calm down - we don't need to hear so much "background" horn stuff when the strings have the melody, and much too brassy on the horn solo in my opinion

  • i agree

  • dude its a video camera. there is a high chance that the sound quality and dynamics of the instruments are distorted.

as for the tempo feedback, that's another story...

  • leytush51

ty for posting this .. this youtube only live coz of this kind of post

  • according to the original music (and the title: allegretto), this piece should actually be played faster. While it is easier to be emotionally stirred by a slower tempo, this disregards the composer's original intention. In this way, many "miss the forest for the trees" by missing the music for the melodies. I respect other interpretations, but I'd like to hear it played how it was intended. They do the same to Barber's Adagio for Strings by performing it in largo. This is the best so far though

  • @leavemealone2006

bullshit, it's called Poco Allegretto, not allegro or wharever; u think people out there including these performers are stupid? pff

  • SirithHeruwen, that was entirely uncalled for.

I simply gave my opinion and said that I would personally like to hear how it sounds when sped up a little. I did not insult the performers in any way.

Also, Music is a very subjective thing. It is hard to be RIGHT. Maybe many performers like a certain piece of music slower than it was intended. That's fine, but I personally would like to hear it the way the composer intended.

  • Then try speeding it up with quicktime player :P

  • ...

all I can say to that is "lol"

  • I like this sped up a bit.

  • this is my favorite movement from symphony 3 by brahms. i like the arrangement where the french horn plays a solo at the beginning and then followed by the oboe, thanx for posting this!

  • In the thriller THE ROSARY MURDERS, the music of the closing credits is this theme with lyrics added to it. Could somebody post that piece, which is very moving?

  • I thought this was the first movement...isn't it?

  • nevermind :) it is the third movement :P Very pretty

  • ahhh...one of my favorite pieces

  • great interpretation of the Brahms piece..I would have loved to play this back in high school.Overall, awesome, but being a cello player, I obviously favored the cello section =)

  • ein wenig zu eilig

  • I never knew that the "Baby Alone in Babylone" song's melody was taken from this piece. It's so melancholy and beautiful!!!

  • eines der schönsten stücke totgeritten.....

schade um brahms.... kein herz keine euphorie.....

  • Damn. I love this song. so chill lol.

Playin this song everytime I gotta work on an essay.

  • I like to put this on when i am tidying my room.

  • Splendid version!

  • Every I listen to this beautiful 3rd movement - I just regret that Santana did not give Brahms credit when he re-did it in his Supernatural cd; just expected more from such a star and a favorite of mine.

  • @elviajove Oh my goodness! The "Love of my Life" song?

  • always been my fave
