  • Some male ducks quack, they're just a lot quieter and more reedy. QB is right, males have a lot different sound than females in all species of duck, sometimes even chirps or whistles.

  • WOW!! I didn't know that. Makes sense. The girls in my 5th grade class talk a LOT more than us and they're louder. So why not with ducks.

  • Just listen to Donald

  • I had a duck just like this one "Fly" right by me on wensday (April 2nd) at Busch Gardens Africa after it was chased by another one. i wasnt aware they could fly short distances until that hapened. I really want a pet duck. How do you get a pet duck? reply on my channel please.

  • it sounds like its laughing. ducks are cute and funny.

  • You, Dianaclarke, male ducks CAN quack, and they do that more than the females.

  • actually they chirp.. they might do it more frequently than the females but they are nowhere near as loud.

  • Only female ducks quack loudly.

  • Sounded like 2 females.

  • The female are so cute.

  • OMG i use to have a duck like that her name was shadow bazinbabodel she was soooo cute she cried everytime i left her alone

  • arrr, bless it. Nice video - I work at a zoo in England down near a lake, the ducks rly are quite entertaining to watch, very loud too!

  • Good footage. Yes, that hen sounds like she is giving out a "hailing" call. I work with mallards and they should be pairing up pretty soon.

  • dude i saw about 5 male ducks raping one female a few years ago. I tried to stop them but thay just wouldn't give. When i came back from the shops she was cleaning herslf in shallow river and males were on grass chilling. Is this normal?

  • Yes, it seems odd, but it happens. It isn't rape as we understand "rape". Whichever male impregnates the female may become the alpha male ("the boss" and leader of the family). They get so territorial during mating season which is coming up. I don't usually see 5 at one time but it's not unheard of. As far as breaking them up, don't bother. It's usually just a lot of noise and fluttering about. It is common for them to settle down; odds are one of the males was successful.

  • Is it true that only mallards exhibit this type of behavior? I know for sure that mallards can be very hostile when penned with ducks of other species and even geese.

  • Many animals (not just birds) will behave like this (even humans in a more subtle way, if you ask me). A bird can be more hostile penned up because they're being forced to be within each others "territory". This is most common during breeding season. Geese can be hostile with other species. I had one come after me when I didn't realize I was near its nest. Each duck has its own personality: Some are more permissive with other species, some are not. There are ducks of mixed breeds.

  • You´re right. That behavior is called Rape flight.

  • Aww so cute ]':

  • Funny video! ^__^ Ducks are great!

  • :D quack quack quack!
