  • Ian MacKaye has more energy than the whole modern music scene has

  • selfish motherfuckers

  • This is punk rock by and for adults, with complicated instrumental parts, realistic lyrics evolved past teenage idealism and an incredibly strong emotional attachment the artist and his art. This is what "emo" was supposed to be like, you sissies!

  • Such a great harmony. Ian Mackaye rapes hard!

  • how did Ivor Hanson come up with that beat? Freakin amazing!

  • People have left comments to the effect that they weren't an intense live band, or at least not compared to MT and Fugazi. I think that's a hard comparison to make b/c it was a vastly different vibe. I think this was a great project for after MT. And I think they were very intense, but it was an emotional and cerebral intensity rather than just physicality. It's a very personal record, obviously. I like to know there was a young Ian McKaye in his early-mid 20s thinking these thoughts.

  • Ian MacKaye is the greatest figure involved in punk rock. Never compromised, never put out a shitty record, never apologized. Hero is a strong word, but if there ever was one...

  • I think I was at this show!!!!!! God I miss the old Atlantic Building 9:30 Club shows.

  • wouldnt it be so awesome if they came back and toured?

  • Im wondering how much Ian mackayes money means to him?

  • The Embrace record is such a great album, this is evidence that they had trouble pulling it off live, though... I love it, but it lacks the punch of the bands and projects before and after.

  • wow what a great tune

  • i still love this song

  • sick.

  • wicked!!! ThE good old days..

  • yoo this song rocks

  • were is Ian now??does he have other bands?

  • Well, Fugazi obviously. Though they are on permanent hiatus now. Ian plays in a duo with his girlfriend(?) called, "The Evens."

  • well, he has a kid now with that girlfriend, so i guess it's pretty serious haha.

i still pray everyday to the gods of rock for fugazi to start playing again. Fuck what a great band.

  • aaah this makes you remember the days when emotional music was cool. Now days its labeled as Fag music.

  • true, whenever i hear the radio its like somebody shooting a fat load in my face.

  • Fantastic. Embrace songs have a way of sticking in my head for days. Especially this one!!

  • fggn freaky, never thot i'd see anything like this in 2007. i have an old live tape of them burned into my brain o.o

  • man, this is 7 years before i was born. why aren't there any good bands for my generation!??!?!

  • there are still good bands. it's where you look for them is the problem.

  • Try "End Of A Year". Taking their name from an Embrace song, the band's original sound was highly influenced by the Revolution Summer-era DC bands. Not too bad band. If you like Embrace maybe you will like them either.

  • Embrace > Minor Threat > Fugazi

  • The Embrace album was/is amazing. Sad this band was so short-lived, but its demise along with the end of Rites of Spring did leave room for the phenomenal Fugazi to get together. Revolution Summer has its place in the annals of underground history, no doubt.

  • most amazing song I´ve ever heard! it´s makes my feel so powerfull and emotional, a realy good mix

  • Ian's god

  • awesome

  • a shrimp herny rollins? thats a dumb thing to say. speaking of which its amazing how hank managed a long career out of.. being really untalented.

  • Aww man,.. Amazing. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • If I didn't know better I would have said that was a shrimpy Henry Rollins singing.
