Does the constitution ever change? Like do they ever make it better, because the world is changing and if you Americans follow the same rules as it was 200 or so years ago then isn't that slightly backwards. Plus we are way smarter now than back then so wouldn't it be better to improve it.
Christ, no wonder you fucking conservatives are so retarded. Go and study the consitution and the convention. You will see it was written by rich white men for rich white men. It entrenched slavery to the point it took a civil war costing a million deaths to end. The constitution should be respected, but fuck this reverence.
@robertmike57 , Though some of those white men, did not have the integrity of the Christ consciousness, to set free, their own slaves, they DID provide for the eventual realease and protection of salves, through the United States Constitution. Slavery was an accepted and world wide, practice, in those days and just like legislators today, understand, some changes must come more slowly. Where, in the constitution, do think it entrenched slavery?
@cowgirlmoon Article Iv Section 2 is an example, not even the best example, which slavery was entrenched. Bet you can't answer what that is without looking it up. Slavery ended in British ruled lands in 1832 and in decline worldwide prior to 1861
@robertmike57, As I believe it is a highly, spiritual document, I did not claim that the constiution was perfect, in it's original form. This is why we have such as Amendment XIII. Section 1. We must be able to evolve our physical laws, as we transcend in consciousness, not go backwards.
@cowgirlmoon The 13th amendment took a million deaths and Reconstruction governments in the south that didn't represent those people to pass in 1865. Nothing spiritual about any document, I can respect the founding fathers, but to claim they were more than men is laughable.
@robertmike57 , Robert, I never claimed that our founding fathers were more than men. You are exaggerating my response, to satisfy your personal belief filters. I do, believe that most, if not all, were above average, in education, social/economic status and spiritual integrity, as they pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor, for the freedoms that we enjoy. Some were hunted down and killed. They wanted us to have greater than "Social Justice," they wanted Equal Justice, for all.
@robertmike57 PS..... Many of those "White men" wanted to abolish slavery, but it was to closely tied to the economics of the country... The constitution did not abolish slavery, right away, but it was written, so that slavery could be abolished and that former slaves would have the same rights, as all citizens. When we praise and support goodness and independence with personal responsibility, instead of trying to divide each other, into villainous groups, we help to free each other.

Some may say it's an outdated 20 page document that needs replacing. Well, if that's the case then it what else could handle 2 World wars, a civil war, manage the greatest armed forces in the world, an economy of trillions and sadly but still shows power in just 20 pages to handle the US national debt.
Some of those things noted above are meant to take apart those 20 pages. That document's power was designed for WE THE PEOPLE if we use it wisely or blindly.
Can't help but notice T.J. getting some play , here. Well try this one on for size
"The first object of my heart is my own country... I have not one farthing of interest, no one fibre of attachment out of it, nor a single motive of preference of any one nation to another.."
Thomas Jefferson 1799
Now, it kind of makes you wonder.. if the child of a mere visitor to this nation, a tourist, in effect..could possibly feel the same way...and should that person be sitting as Commander-in-Chief
Anyway,it isn't outright disdain for my fellow citizens that I have(such feelings are reserved for"the elite")it is mostly frustration stemming from an apparent willingness on the part of a great majority of US to wait around until things come to a head ie affects one directly It needn't require such dire circumstances to move people. In fact, had we remained vigilant or even if we act now, so much of the pain predicted-as a consequence of prior indolence IMO--could very well have been avoided
Thomas Jefferson, a vigilant but skeptical Anglican, made clear the prohibition in his obscure 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association. Far from calling for the coercive stripping of all religious influences from public life, Jefferson assured his Baptist constituents that their denominational practices were safe because our Constitution provided a "wall of separation" between church and state, which would prohibit the fed. government from recognizing Anglicanism as the national religion
We the people need reminding of what our Constitution says. Good job.
History Note: The phrase " a wall of separation" is not in the Constitution; it is in a letter Jefferson wrote. Further, the idea of separation was to protect religious liberties from government, not government from religion.
Jefferson made it clear that the 1st amendment established a wall between church and state. We have allowed some thestic politicians to breech that wall by allowing tax breaks for religious activities, putting "In God We Trust" on our money, degrading our pledge of alligence by adding "Under God" , and contining abuse by conducting prayers at government meetings.
@melbrant The phrase " a wall of separation" is not in the Constitution; it is in a letter Jefferson wrote. Further, the idea of separation was to protect religious liberties from government, not government from religion.
This is a wonderful video; it brought tears to my patriotic eyes. Fast paced, inspiring music, great message. Long live the Republic! And God bless the Heritage Foundation. I'm embedding this in my website.
“It(Our Revolution)….presented us an album on which we were free to write what we pleased. We had no occasion to search into musty records, to hunt up royal parchments, or to investigate the laws and institutions of a semi-barbarous ancestry. We appealed to those(laws) of nature…”
A natural-born citizen has been defined as one whose citizenship is estab'd by the jurisdiction which the U.S. already has over the parents of the child, not what is thereafter acquired by choice of residence in this country"
If the Founders had not wanted an expansive definition of citizenship,Morse writes,"it would only have been necessary to say,'no person, except a native-born citizen
Natural-Born Citizen of the United States-Eligibility for the Office of President Alexander Porter Morse-1904
U.S. Congressman, abolitionist, "Father of the 14th Amendment" John Bingham, confirms understanding &construction framers used re birthright & jurisdiction House of Reps 3/9 1866:
I find no fault with the introductory clause which is simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that EVERY HUMAN BEING BORN within the jurisdiction of the United States OF PARENTS NOT OWING ALLEGIANCE TO ANY FOREIGN SOVEREIGNTY IS, in the language of your Constitution itself, A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN
persons who are born in a country, are generally deemed to be citizens and subjects of that country. A reasonable qualification of the rule would seem to be, that it should not apply to the children of parents, who were in itinere in the country, or who were abiding there for temporary purposes.."Commentaries on the Conflict of Laws (1834), Ch. @latlanticcityphil IT'S NOT "THE CONSTITUTION" THAT IS "the foundation" - THE PRINCIPLES(it sets forth) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATURAL RIGHTS OF MAN - ARE THE FOUNDATION !
THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION SAW FIT TO REMOVE ALL OF MY COMMENTS WHICH WERE DIRECTED AT REMINDING OR INFORMING CITIZENS AS TO THE INTENT BEHIND THE FOUNDERS/FRAMERS INCLUSION OF ARTICLE II's natural born citizen req for POTUS
@latlanticcityphil It is almost as if many are determined to go through these trials and that is what I find most disheartening. Example: In my initial reply to you I indicated that the Heritage Foundation an organization established ostensibly as a body engaged in the struggle to uphold our ideals. Yet, I merely attempt to broach the subject of the Office of the President being usurped--and they go into shut-down mode.... sad, indeed
@kiiifute1 Yes, you have to watch how you say things now, the regime have strong koolaide drinkers who are heavy committed drinkers of the jim jones juice of Obama, and they have thin skin when you point out the truth on what they are doing wrong to this great country of ours.
@latlanticcityphil I was only being so tough on ya because-as I am sure you are well aware-so many folks run around venerating"THE CONSTITUTION"-the DOCUMENT,not extolling the virtues 4 which it stands. I can't tell you how many times I've been in the presence of someone waxing rhapsodically over our sacred charter("oh my God..there it was..under the glass..blah blah")*& yet when I ask them to recite but 2 words from the thing or lay out a couple of it's most fundamental precepts-they're stymied
@kiiifute1 Sad and so true , In grade school the plege a legans to flag meant a whole lot to me than, and even more to me now that i have kids. I want my kids to enjoy the freedoms & libertys that makes America so great as i have.
@latlanticcityphil It's a good thing you've a sense of humor or are a secure person; otherwise there is no telling what my "little nudge" might have provoked from your quarters.
@freesk8: It most certainly is WE THE PEOPLE... even in 1787! How do you think the participants/representatives in the Constitutional Congress were selected to represent each of the 13 Colonies? The were elected by WE THE PEOPLE. I will give you the other point that the only people allowed to vote were the land owners who at the time would be the most affected! If we would've had that same principle in place way back in 2008, all the moronic young people who voted for THE ONE, would not ha
THIS is THE reason why we do NOT need a "contract with America, or Americans" WE HAVE ONE!!!! "The Constitution is the Guide which I will NEVER abandon" <<George Washington
The U.S. Constitution is one of the most powerful spiritual documents, ever written.
It is a sacred agreement between God and our founding fathers, on behalf of our nation.
It looses strength through the corruption and apathy. If we wish to retain the power of the people and our constitution, we must reconnect with the Judea-Christian principles, upon which our constitution was formed.
There is no evidence that the constitution was formed or founded on any religion much less the Judea-Christian principles. The Declaration of Independence nor the basic constitution mention any specific religion.
The 1st amendment "prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion".
Recently a US District Court struct down an attempt to establish a national day of prayer, as unconstitutional.
@melbrant , I didn't say there was mention of any religion, I said it was founded upon Judea-Christian PRINCIPLES. Here is one example: Judeo-Christian Roots:
"If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth." (Numbers 30:2) American Founding Ideal: "No state shall.pass any. law impairing the obligation of contracts." (U.S Constitution, Art. I, Section 10, Paragraph 1)
@melbrant , "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the the free exercise thereof." It says nothing about prayer, or display of religious slogans, symbols, or prohibiting the mention of God. It says that congress shall make no law in ESTABLISHING a religion.... In other words, NO FEDERAL RELIGION, like..... "The Church of England."
In your statement "in other words, NO FEDERAL RELIGION, ......", you grabbed this statement out of the air. The first amendment states very clearly what the law of the land is in regards to government and religion.
@melbrant , I was reiterating, not "grabbing out of the air. "Congress shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion." It does not say anything more than to forbid government from making laws regarding the ESTABLISHMENT of religion.
What do you think that means? The term, "Separation of church and state," is not found anywhere, in the U.S. Constitution, or the Declaration of Indipendence.
@cowgirlmoon It's not the coolaid you are drinking, it's the hidden ingredients that is affecting your thinking.
I will not discuss on this page anything other than the Constitution and the decisions of the courts that affect it.
Through my taxes , I am supporting your church, or place of worship, and I hope you will confine your positions therein. They do not belong on a site honoring our legally guiding document.
@melbrant , First of all, I do not belong to any church and if I did, you would have me "Confine my positions therein?" ...... as opposed to exercising my 1st amendment rights? So my opinions do not belong here? Ha ha... Oh that is rich! People like you, who are unable to tolerate any opinion but your own, are exactly why our founding fathers were so careful to express our rights, "as endowed by the Creator!" Hahahahaha! Now aren't you, just a hoot.
@melbrant , One more thing..... Your taxes do not support any church. It would be against the law for tax money to be given to any church. The fact that churches are exempt from taxes is not the same thing. Our tax money should not be spent on cool-aid, or the poisonous propaganda that the left, have been using to change the truth of our history. Did you know that much of our form of government was also based upon the governmental system of the Iroquois?
@cowgirlmoon Are you sure you're not thinking of the 10 Commandments there? The only religious element in the Constitution is that it guarantees freedom of religion. Otherwise it's a specifically secular, political document - not based on Christian principles at all.
@emberglance , I did not say that the constitution contains Scripture, or religious text. I said that it is based upon Judea-Christian principles. There are many articles of the constitution that are the same Christian principles, as written in the bible and most of the founding fathers were Christians. It is only, logical, as well as historically factual, to consider that the same principals by which they lived, were also used, to create our constitution.
@Jononutoob , Why are you so threatened, by the mention of religious, or spiritual principle, that you feel the need to demand, that I keep the mere mention of religious views, off this document? (as if you own this document?)......... Surely, you must feel your own, spirit shackled by the chains of tyranny. Darlin, you will know, one day, that it isn't about religion. It is about good, decent values, that afford everyone equal justice, above social justice.
@cowgirlmoon "It is a sacred agreement between God and our founding fathers, on behalf of our nation."
"we must reconnect with the Judea-Christian principles" Such strong religious language unsettles me, I am not sure why but I think it has to do with what religion is and does in general. If you can ask that America become more religious then I can reject it. I agree with you spiritually perhaps but religion is a totally different monster.
@Jononutoob , I understand your concern.... definitely, there is a difference between religion and spirituality.... Religion is the physical manifestation of spirit. Please know that our constitution is based upon Judeo-Christian "values." It is the spiritual principles of Christianity, the "Christ consciousness" that empowers our constitution..... Not religion. The principles of honesty, balance, fairness, equality, freedom, are all, spritual values of Christianity. May you be blessed.
I'm sure our President will be celebrating Constitution Day today with little regard for it or the People whatsoever and instead will be bashing those who, for the sake of the vital foundation of God given rights ensured by the checks and balances this document lays down, disagree with him about what the role of this government should be and who refuse to back down.
The Constitution is a wonderful document, but not because of "We the People." That was actually sophistry. We the people never voted on it, and even if a majority had voted for it, it could have no binding power on the minority who did not, or on the women or blacks who could not.
The beauty of the Constitution lies in all of the checks and balances and limitations on government power. Unlimited govt is socialism.
Too bad the Constitution is little more than a friendly suggestion at best for most of our "leaders". If the men who signed it came back today they'd go get a barrel of tar and a big bag of feathers. It's purpose was to limit govt power so as not to burden the people and infringe on their lives but those ideals have long since been forgotten and it is in part the fault of the people for voting for those who continuously chip away at it. It's time to correct those mistake this election.
I know the Constitution, at least I always keep it at my fingertips - I've got the version by XIMAD from android market. It's simple and I can leave my textual and audio notes and share them through social media. It's pretty nice)))

All in the name of progress, right?

Thank God for the Constitution.

Far from calling for the coercive stripping of all religious influences from public life, Jefferson assured his Baptist constituents that their denominational practices were safe because our Constitution provided a "wall of separation" between church and state, which would prohibit the fed. government from recognizing Anglicanism as the national religion
raptorff 1 year ago 2
We the people need reminding of what our Constitution says. Good job.
History Note: The phrase " a wall of separation" is not in the Constitution; it is in a letter Jefferson wrote. Further, the idea of separation was to protect religious liberties from government, not government from religion.
ReeHerself 1 year ago
@ReeHerself I cannot find any reference to a one way wall. This sounds like another theist's fafrication.
It the intent was a one way wall, What religions had the password to penetrate it?
melbrant 1 year ago
Jefferson made it clear that the 1st amendment established a wall between church and state. We have allowed some thestic politicians to breech that wall by allowing tax breaks for religious activities, putting "In God We Trust" on our money, degrading our pledge of alligence by adding "Under God" , and contining abuse by conducting prayers at government meetings.
Let's all respect and obey the constitution.

The U.S. Constitution is one of the most powerful spiritual documents, ever written.
It is a sacred agreement between God and our founding fathers, on behalf of our nation.
It looses strength through the corruption and apathy. If we wish to retain the power of the people and our constitution, we must reconnect with the Judea-Christian principles, upon which our constitution was formed.
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago 14
@cowgirlmoon
There is no evidence that the constitution was formed or founded on any religion much less the Judea-Christian principles. The Declaration of Independence nor the basic constitution mention any specific religion.
The 1st amendment "prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion".
Recently a US District Court struct down an attempt to establish a national day of prayer, as unconstitutional.
melbrant 1 year ago
@melbrant , I didn't say there was mention of any religion, I said it was founded upon Judea-Christian PRINCIPLES. Here is one example: Judeo-Christian Roots:
"If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth." (Numbers 30:2) American Founding Ideal: "No state shall.pass any. law impairing the obligation of contracts." (U.S Constitution, Art. I, Section 10, Paragraph 1)
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago
@melbrant , "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the the free exercise thereof." It says nothing about prayer, or display of religious slogans, symbols, or prohibiting the mention of God. It says that congress shall make no law in ESTABLISHING a religion.... In other words, NO FEDERAL RELIGION, like..... "The Church of England."
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago
@cowgirlmoon
In your statement "in other words, NO FEDERAL RELIGION, ......", you grabbed this statement out of the air. The first amendment states very clearly what the law of the land is in regards to government and religion.
melbrant 1 year ago
@melbrant , I was reiterating, not "grabbing out of the air. "Congress shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion." It does not say anything more than to forbid government from making laws regarding the ESTABLISHMENT of religion.
What do you think that means? The term, "Separation of church and state," is not found anywhere, in the U.S. Constitution, or the Declaration of Indipendence.

@cowgirlmoon It's not the coolaid you are drinking, it's the hidden ingredients that is affecting your thinking.

Now aren't you, just a hoot.
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago
@melbrant , One more thing..... Your taxes do not support any church. It would be against the law for tax money to be given to any church. The fact that churches are exempt from taxes is not the same thing. Our tax money should not be spent on cool-aid, or the poisonous propaganda that the left, have been using to change the truth of our history. Did you know that much of our form of government was also based upon the governmental system of the Iroquois?
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago
@cowgirlmoon Are you sure you're not thinking of the 10 Commandments there? The only religious element in the Constitution is that it guarantees freedom of religion. Otherwise it's a specifically secular, political document - not based on Christian principles at all.
emberglance 1 year ago
@emberglance , I did not say that the constitution contains Scripture, or religious text. I said that it is based upon Judea-Christian principles. There are many articles of the constitution that are the same Christian principles, as written in the bible and most of the founding fathers were Christians. It is only, logical, as well as historically factual, to consider that the same principals by which they lived, were also used, to create our constitution.
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago
@cowgirlmoon Keep your religion off this document. You want to remove the chains of tyranny for the chains of religion.
Jononutoob 1 year ago
@Jononutoob , Why are you so threatened, by the mention of religious, or spiritual principle, that you feel the need to demand, that I keep the mere mention of religious views, off this document? (as if you own this document?)......... Surely, you must feel your own, spirit shackled by the chains of tyranny. Darlin, you will know, one day, that it isn't about religion. It is about good, decent values, that afford everyone equal justice, above social justice.
cowgirlmoon 1 year ago
@cowgirlmoon "It is a sacred agreement between God and our founding fathers, on behalf of our nation."
"we must reconnect with the Judea-Christian principles" Such strong religious language unsettles me, I am not sure why but I think it has to do with what religion is and does in general. If you can ask that America become more religious then I can reject it. I agree with you spiritually perhaps but religion is a totally different monster.
Jononutoob 1 year ago
@Jononutoob , I understand your concern.... definitely, there is a difference between religion and spirituality.... Religion is the physical manifestation of spirit. Please know that our constitution is based upon Judeo-Christian "values." It is the spiritual principles of Christianity, the "Christ consciousness" that empowers our constitution..... Not religion. The principles of honesty, balance, fairness, equality, freedom, are all, spritual values of Christianity. May you be blessed.

Limited govt may be a necessary evil.
The Bill of Rights limits govt power.
