  • it's a lotta sour ppl on here who obviously dont like social workers...I'm doing it to ACTUALLY help ppl. i wanna do gerontology tho

  • you don't need a master's in Canada! haha

  • @AngryWhiteGurl You do it for the love of helping innocent children.

  • Im not sure what this women is talking about. Is she speaking about the qualifications for a certain state? It doesnt take as much education or supervision in my state. She was a very bland speaker.

  • I'm going to be a social worker.

  • @frazerone ME TOO :)

  • Again, I say that there is no such thing as a "good social worker" unless they are speaking out against atrocities their profession frequently commits - and gets away with often bc very difficult to fight them bc they R too powerful..........this is all based on my non-humble opinion.

  • @AUSNick87 What "Various Research" proves Social Workers often help ppl? And whom R they helping? Illegals? Also I don't trust any data put out by Gov that is very corrupt - U wanna make an argument abt "DATA" - give me DATA ~ not that I care abt it - too much of my findings over course of many yrs has repeatedly proven to me Soc Wrkrs do more harm than good & often abuse power that NO ONE deserves over anyone!!!

  • yeah theres been cases where they havent acted right, but dont fault them all. im sure some have really helped alot of families. I'm really hoping to do my masters in social work after my 3rd year of uni! makes me nervous all the stick they get but im up for the challenge even if i can just make a difference to a few peoples lifes then it'll sure be worth it!! :D

  • @goodgirlrelish Dear good person, Please allow that there is CORRUPTION in all walks of society. Have a look on Youtube at this post and also see the person with headphones in the window, there are three posts. Walsall social services child kidnapping/adoption? ANY comment on that video will be welcome.

  • the social services deserve all negative comments as for social workers most are a.holes but that isnt to say there isnt nice and respectful ones too

p.s. been through the system and to be honest its screwed up and doesnt work in the long term so i wouldnt defend it but i would defend some social workers

  • @Irich65184 ah where im from my friend child welfare officers have to have social work qualifications, ive been through the system thats my source of info :)

  • GREAT. I wanna be a RN so i go to the video and all the comments say: NO ITS HORRIBLE DO SOMETHING ELSE GO INTO SOCIAL WORK....i go to the social worker video: NO ITS HORRIBLE DO SOMETHING ELSE. -____-

  • all of these negative comments seem to be directed at workers in social services. Keep in mind, a real legit social worker has earned an independent state license either an LCSW or LISW. child welfare workers are typically not trained as social workers. (Florida for example most are from other professions).

  • Dear Mam, further to my last post would you care to look at my video on Youtube :--- Walsall social services child kidnapping/adoption?

They know of this video and have not replied. Would you care to comment.

  • Destroy Lives....that's what social workers really do...they only help minimally...most don't help at alll.....

  • @bermudatriangle83 various research studies have found social workers actually do make a difference... what evidence do u have that suggests they dont?

  • @AngryWhiteGurl Please go into more detail! What's wrong?

  • @Shangothe1 Please, try not to use inappropriate words in future. They somehow demean you because you appear to be an intelligent person. All the best.

  • @Shangothe1 Friend, cannot you see that every post against Social Workers is because a direct result of your second sentence. Can you not see that YOU have not suffered at the machinations of a CORRUPT Social Worker. Watch out for me in the future. I will expose the criminals.

  • Dear lady, what if the social worker is CORRUPT and working in collusion with the lawyers so the the council can get government money. BIG MONEY. I am from England and am suffering from their CRIMINAL ACT. The ones i amtalking of are Walsall Social services Great Britian. They know of my posts and will not answer. Please keep in touch. I have not finished with them. Wait and see. Look on Utube and look up social services and CAFCASS. You will see nothing but evil.

  • Qualifications required. Must be a consummate LIAR. Have the ability to APPEAR to be helpful. Have no conscience. Have the ability to pass any problems to another social worker who will then disseminate. This criteria is critical to your CV. Will anybody gainsay the above.

  • @justphil101 Its easy to point the finger at people and blame them. If its not Social Workers its the Police or the Government. Lets see you try and do the job.

  • @tomsmith100 Dear friend, as above keep in touch. Yes I am bitter. What I am trying to say is that in the case against my FAMILY. A bunch of small people with power had three infants ADOPTED. Please keep in touch, I WILL EXPOSE the CORRUPTION of Walsall SS England. I have all the documents from an informer.

  • @tomsmith100 I am sorry for the delay in answering you. I now make known to you and the world that Walsall Social operatives are CORRUPT in how they dealt in the case of my FAMILY. A Mr. Bupinder Gill of WALSALL SS is currently in NON communication with me. Will you step forward or even Walsall SS to charge me for calling them LIARS.

  • You must to have a masters???

  • Sounds daunting.

  • i am double majoring in political science and psychology. I was hoping to attend FSU to attain a a dula degree in Master in Social Work and a J.D law. my question is would I be able to be accepted into the MSW program with a double major in PS and PSY? or do I need to study social science or sociology?

  • @MaverickMuze - Just as an everyday person, I don't believe that you would need to major in psychology along with social work especially if wanting to also major in political science. Either curriculum alone (social work or political science) should be pretty intense. Please only consider social work programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. How about talking with a student advisor at the college(s) that you'd like to attend.

  • lol

  • FUN!!....and REWARDING!!!...just like this video

  • Your info is sadly flawed and I dare you to CHALLENGE me.

  • Comment removed

  • True that. Okay so another way to describe...

    Pedophiles victimize children...

    CPS victimizes children...

Birds of the same feather flock together...

    Again I speak from experience.

I don't even need to say the rest do I?

  • 1. Check out Camilla Cavendish campaign against corrupt in social work in the Times paper.

    2. check out John Hemming MP and Tim Yeo mp speeches in the House of Commons against - corrupt social workers.

The culture is secrecy, malpractice and dishonesty. Are you prepare to work with managers that make you do evil things to children?

    Like Forced adoption?

If you're evil - sign up for social worker. If you've a heart of gold - get out while you can.

  • I remeber being picked on in school for being poor. I remember being an outcast becuase of my background I had to goto school with rich snobs...

So you see things don't change when you get out of school. The rich popular people are now ripping our lives to shreds and from what i can tell seem to be getting alot of enjoyment out of it. Seems something will never change. Except now... I was the only geek and loser who beat up jocks and the "popular people"

    Again somethings don't change.

    :)

  • And now money means nuthing except to those who have it and seem to think they have our respect and if they don't they think they can demand it. Difference is, respect is earned not obtained by force or intimidation or how much money you have as these stupid brain dead richies think.

  • They live in a dream world and get their kicks pretending to be heroes while stealing the poor's children and selling them to each other in "Adoption" Which is child trafficking by any definition. The laws don't apply to the rich.

  • Of course the lawyer won't help and screws you.

Who do you think gets us thrown into foster care?

Judges and lawyers. Everything bad that happens to us in care the deaths... their blood and our pain is not just on the hands of CPS it's on the hands of lawyers judges etc... who guess what?

Are upper-class. What a surprise hu?

All roads of misery not just foster care but in almost all faucets of life lead back to the rich and their families.

  • You want to be a SS?

Get your head checked or try going on disability as it's obvious your brain don't work and you need help.

  • @Bizziboy You are absolutly right. What you just said reminds me of something in the Bible, Luke 16 v 19 to 31, when the rich man asks God to send Lazerus to warn his siblings about hell, and God refuses, pointing out that if they would not listen to the persecuted prophets they would not listen to Lazerus.

These munching cows ARE stupid, utterly utterly stupid. If they won't listen to the very people who were abused by the SS, then there is no hope for them, I fear.

  • Get a real job get into computers like me... help people. Or I guess anyone can be a CPS/SS worker takes no skill just listen to what others tell you to do and be as nasty as you can. Not difficult.

Working with computers reqires the ability to think for yourself. It asks you look outside the box. Following instructions when it comes to computers never works. So it's a skill that requires intelligence... something you obviously lack if your looking at this video as a possibility of employment.

  • Social workers are useless. No client can be honest and ask for help. If their family life is turbulant and they tell you you HAVE to tell CPS. You are required to by law. As a social worker you will only people able to help crachheads who lost their shoes... or moms that spent their whole welfare check on cloths instead of food.

Social workers are now just a waste of money on tax payers.

Realzoomy, harassment is a big understatement.

  • Whether i will be successful at managing it only the future can tell. I really appreciate all that Arsh55555 has said, & would love to hear more if you'd send me a message!

  • I have had to deal with some very miserable social workers so i understand why some people do have these assumptions, it just upsets me a little, thats all!

there are some amazing kind and inspiring SW out there that don't deserve the unkindess they receive from general people. Im just saying... I have a pretty good idea of whats to come, so I'm aware that there will be people that don't want to work with me, and others will stomp on my job title.

  • I have ALOT to learn, as I'm not a social worker, I'm not even a university student yet, I'm just seeking out the feild. I've sought out social workers before I even considered it as a career, and I've dealt with several on many occassions, and it's given me a small but valuble glipmse into the field. I know clients are an entirely different story, I'm just frustrated at the way some people have outlooks on this.

  • Well I'm young and still have time to test the waters. I guess I didn't explain myself thoroughly enough now that I look back on my comment. I was trying to say that people treat social workers, like they are the most horrid people to walk the face of the earth. From my point of view at this moment people look at agency workers like they are "child abducters" yet when someone gets in a really horrible car accident and a clinical social worker is there to support them, they like them!

  • @dancinginstardust Are you joking? I've been in a road accident and no SS came to be kind to me! I;ve had plenty of harrassment from them though. You must be living on the Island of Dreams or something.

You are a very pretty girl. Why don't you choose a more respectable profession, one which brings joy to the community rather than oppression? You could do anything, what about ballet dancing? Anything, but please do not join the SS.

  • Three biggest lies: Your check is in the mail, I'll still love you in the morning, and Hi, we're the government we're here to help you.

  • wow, it sounds like you don't understand AOP. let me tell you, how would you feel having to involuntarily seek services from a profession filled with priviledged people who think they understand your life and your situation because they have a university degree? as a social worker you gotta suck up people not wanting to wok with you.. it happens in many environments! also have you ever worked in a hospital? i assure you if you are working in mental health, clients will have issues with you

  • maybe it is your approach. i am able to get even involuntary clients to begin to work with me-- it just takes patience and knowing how to connect with them.

in addition, the majority of clients who will seek services in this profession will be marginalized and considering canada's history of oppression, certain groups will be (rightfully so) suspiecious of social workers.

so dancinginstardust, maybe SW is not the right profession for you.

  • social work is fun?

i'. a social worker and let me tell you if you really care about people this profession is not fun! you will encounter systems (structures) that will make it very difficult for you to help your clients.

you will also encounter ignornant social work colleagues who come from priviledged backgrounds and belong to the dominant group, who just don't have know how to work with oppressed and marginalized populations!

so the career can be rewarding, but fun? that sounds exploitative

  • "This is a very fun and rewarding career"

This is NOT career planning for social work. A social worker is trying to work with those ppl who are made most vulnerable in our society. Explore what that work is like. Connect with the communities where those u will try to help are coming from. and think alot about yourself and how u came to this work. I'm not a social worker, but I think that is the real first step to this kind of work.

just planning for the bloody degrees will trap you

  • While I applaud your ability to multitask (being hilariously uninformed while simultaneously calling someone else a twit), you might be interested in knowing that the vast majority of social workers in the U.S. have either a BA/BS (a 4 year degree) or a graduate degree.

Protip: the term "verbal diarrhea" doesn't work well as a description of what others are doing when used in the context of an incoherent, rambling, factually inaccurate, diatribe.

  • hi do you work as a social worker ????

  • nice iMac

  • Hmmm.. I don't know if "fun" is the right word lol

  • This is not true. It completely depends on the state.

Also, the specific bachelor degree is not as important. It is helpful to have something in the humanities field but not mandatory. The norm now is to have at least your MSW and it is becoming more and more necessary whereas 10 years ago, a BA would have been sufficient.

  • wow...im 27 years old, and i desire to become a social worker...im so old lol

  • no yr not old at all, you can do it.

plus, in most social work classes 30 is about the average age.

  • Thanks :o)

  • oh my, that's not old at all! I am 42 and just now finishing up my BSW. You still have many, many years ahead of you to work in this field.

  • Wow thanks im making plans to start...i needed the encouragement... thanks alot ... :o)

  • im 24 and considering it for after i finish my degree, ur not old! il be 27 when im finishd !

  • woot

  • thanks alottt!
