Shamans are great AE healers but, we suck big hairy monkey balls when trying to heal multiple single targets...we go OOM fast. Don't worry, in 4.3 Resto Shamans will get a little buff.

Our guild downed him the other week, we tried a bit of a different tactic

We pretty much kept the same setup as normal apart from aoe-ing the obsidiums when possible, and then at 40% we pop heroism/time warp/bloodlust and have all dps and healers attack one leg to burn him down to p2, as all adds disappear as soon as it goes through plus you should still have the heroism/tw/bl up and should be able to burn him down pretty fast

make sure you pop all cds in p2 though just to get you through it :P

You can ignore them but you might get close to superheated which will soon after wipe your raid. If you're going to not deal with them you'll have to have decent DPS on the legs.

I'm new to your vids, and stumbled across them looking for a good Heroic Shannox guide. And... I've got to say that I really like the observations! Especially since the vids I've run across so far have been from the healer's point of view. It's nice to be able to see how another healer handles something before I'm thrust headfirst into it.

But, of course, I've never been jealous of another resto druid before. I think my ego got a bit muddy.

This boss is so easy in a 10 man raid. In a 25 raid its going to eat you alive. Had such a hard time killing him on 25 HC.

Whats your other healer, i'm a resto druid myself but im just wondering what would be the 2nd healer, a raid healing class like a priest or a tank healing class like shammy or hpally? I've also seen some videos with a 3h composition, would this be preferable if the 6dps are able to pull like...25k dps? (minus the dmg reduction from the legs) or essentially would it be better to have better aoe dps rather than people who can simply pull high single target?

Holy Paladin in this video. Any 2 healers, even the same class could easily heal it if the volcanoes are done correctly. I believe some guilds have solo healed it. I wouldn't recommend 3 healers at all, the fight HPS requirement is low as hell. If its to high and you're struggling then it's purely your DPS failing on controlling the boss movement. As for DPS, split them accordingly. 2 for leg control, 2 Fragments, All (excluding leg control) on sparks. Knock away/kill lil' adds.

Mage tip: Use Mana shield and stand close to the leg when he stomps so you with Incanters absorption knocks the liquids away from boss. You can do that quite often since you just need to absorb dmg to knock em back, which will help alot on the armor on legs, if you can afford to have dps to kill liquids ofc.

@LarsLundgreen I wouldn't use mana shield personally, as it will end up draining your mana too quickly, use mage ward instead. But ofcourse if you can manage spending that much mana, use both, as the SP benefit off both mana shield/mage ward stack, so you'd get around 4k SP for 10 secs.

We waited to kill the spark of ryolith untill he had 2 or 3 stacks of his buff/debuff to minimize the time our dps spent on him, of this requires a tank to use cooldowns if the spark still goes down slowly.

We used a feral cat druid to "dps tank" the fragments of ryolith, basicly our boomkin and feral druid soloed the sparks with swipe/boom shrooms.

The only RNG thing in this fight is the ability to see and react to activated vulcanoes on time. Yes where the vulcanoes spawn random and "random" ones are activated but it's really really not hard to controll this fight.

@chrismohr Wrong, where the Volcanoes spawn can either make the fight a whole lot easier, or fucking impossible, considering the fight is more or less completely based on Volcanoes, the fight is based upon RNG.

@WillAddison1 wrong, the boss moves faster according to how much dps you put on the legs and if you crush the correct volcanos (inactive ones) while on your way to new active ones hes never going to activate one thats miles away, which he only does if you dont face him towards another inactive volcano

He is more likely to activate the ones infront of him. It isn't a fact that he always will. If you have only 1 infront of him, it seems he is very likely to active the one behind him. It is a RNGenius fight in more than one way. Not only is the debuff RNG based, the volcano's placement is RNG. The activation of the volcano is slightly more controlled, but it will only be a few attempts where RNG won't fuck you over.
