This looks a very good technique as I am also a knitter who has an escaping cable needle which needs to be hunted for at every row. Hah, now a cable needle is redundant thanks to your video.
I like your pattern and plan to use your cables against a plain background, on a jersey for my grandson. I'm really pleased you thought of this and uploaded the video. Kudos to you.
Hello! This video was great and I'm sorry if you've had to answer this question before but I was wondering what the thing was you were actually knitting on. and what was the location where you filmed it. I got the strange impression of some boardwalk or ocean pier. But I know you said North Dakota so...
@spagetti568 It's not actually a written pattern, just something out of my head (a baby bunting).
And yes, I am in North Dakota :-) We are in the Great Plains which means not many trees which in turn means LOTS of wind. I'm standing on my back porch
tHE WIND WAS NO TROUBLE i AM HARD OF HEARING YET UNDERSTUD ALL YOU SAID , SOME PEOPLE JUST LIKE TO MOAN. iF YOU CANT SAY ANYTHING NICE, TRY SAYING NOTHING AT ALL. GOOD VIDEO BABES
If I was going to post an instructional video for all to see I wouldn't have recorded it out in the wind. Probably is a good video but because of the noise it wasn't worth finishing.
@poniesrus (this is adorabubbleknits) Extreme knitting, I like that! I did figure it out on my own but I know a lot of other people do it too. I think there is even a book out there about it.
holy crap, I'm now having impure thoughts about my yarn...is this bad? I don't need to go buy new needles! (except I do need to buy a set of interchangable knitpicks)
I was estatic when I finally found a video explining both fron t and back crossed cables, so now I can make owls out of my cables on a sweater project! It's going to be so awesome!!!
I lose them too! THANK YOU!! Yeah the wind was crappy but I didn't care... this is awesome! No more cumbersome (and easily lost I agree!!) cable needles! :)
Awesome! I watched a few 2 other videos (one where you couldn't see how the yarn was being slipped, and one where they were knitting so fast I was unable to comprehend what was happening) before I found your video. Definitely going to try this, looks like it will save a lot of time. Thanks for posting!
"oh my gosh...that is so easy. that is so awesome" that's what said after watching. wow, so excited! thank you! and the wind didn't bother me at all. you were very clear.
THX SOO MUCH!! this really helped me. I am a beginner and I wasn't sure how to do that without a cable needle. And now you show it really easy thx. keep up with your knitting your REALLY good. :)
Thank you so much for the video! It looks quite scary to try out as a beginner like me but I think it can be handy to know how to make cables without cable needles. It is very helpful! Thanks again! :-)
Excellent video! too bad about the wind or noise distortion going on, but it didnt get in the way too much. This was GREAT instruction. I have never done cables before but definitely have the itch to get started. So once i do a sample with a CN, i will try this method without a needle. wish me luck ;-) Thanks again so much for your informative video. Beautiful knitting by the way!! :-)
holy crap ur right! i'm a new knitter and i wanted to know how to knit awesome stitches and i dont think this is the way for me! cuz i dont have a cable needle so i was like "yah this seems like the perfect video for me!" but i'm not that great a knitter to be able to do that!
@cmrpaul I know right?! I nearly died re-watching that today, each time she slips those dad-blasted stiches, she does a little "gasp" thing that makes my heart skip a beat! a real nail biter...I held my breath again watching it!
extremely helpful ! I just learned how to knit about a week ago and I'm already able to do these cables thanks to your video.

Thank you for a great video. I can't understand why some people were complaining about wind noise. You were very easy to understand.

Do you have a pattern available for the project that you are demonstrating the cables without needles technique?
What size needles and yarn are you using? It looks like you have double the yarn. Thank you for your demo. It is very easy to follow.
