Today is the 7th anniversary of the day Rick James passed. Rick James was the GREATEST musician of all time. He was a true musical genius. From 1979-83 nobody made more hits or sold more records then Rick. His FUNK made you dance and his ballads brought you to tears. For all of ya'll that were there and know what I'm talkin' about, throw it up!!!! and "FIRE UP SOME FUNK and have a TOKE".
R.I.P The "KING of FUNK", I am forever grateful for the time I spent celebrating/parting with you.
fireitup...I've had a chance to really think and I realize I desire better. Old boy can't come back. He is right where he needs to be, Out of my life. To bad this didn't happen sooner. Their are real people out there for us, just stay strong. Their LOSS! One of my favorite lines from our boy Rickjames "as far as I'm concerned they all can go to hell" ! We'll talk.
Fireitupbedford I can really relate to this right now, too! Some people are just self centered and heartless. Ithink I will listen to teardrops after this. Than I will pick myself up and move on. Peace out!
@catejune17 I know what your saying but you and I both know it's not that easy. Some people will NEVER learn, They get this idea in there head that the grass is greener on the other side and when they find out that it's not then they wanna try and come back like nothing happened...
Yeah!...I've always thought this was one Rick's best albums. I still play it for people from time to time, and they'll be like, "what! when did this come out?"
@Triton88Keyz Because people bought hook line and sinker that he held that lying ass woman hostage!! And this beautiful recording never got the respect it deserved!!! Or the air play with all of the gangster rap !!!!
@donmagicjuan1000 the last don of midnite sensations 41 cocain is a hell of a drug r i p rick james dont hate the player hait the dume women who play with drugs so dont blaim rick they new he was freak with hoes so dont blaim the playa in you
with JoJo an "A"...with Teena it would've been an"A+". Too bad they were scrappin (he n Teena) when this one went into the studios...this will go down as one of Ricks BEST ballads that went under the radar. Thx Bedford for keepin it goin' :-)
I understand what your saying but JoJO was just as cold and Teena! I fiend to hear JoJo's voice on anything!(Like wild and crazy Love!) Actually both of them are my favorite vocalist along with a few others! Rick had an ear for picking female vocalist and bringing the best out of them! But Rick was one of the coldest if not thee coldest to do it! I wish I could have met him to tell him how much I appreciate his God given talent but I never got the chance!
yes your on point...its always been a tossup between them w/ honorable mention going to Val Young... I did have a couple of opportunities to meet "Slick Rick" back in LA in his prime and I must say that kat was one of a kind...a REAL human, posterchild for Living one's making not just a badddass music man making a living... R.I.P. bro
You owe it to yourself to check out his lastest release if you havent already and I am partial to Taste...Rick's living song eulogy/legacy.
I was raised listening to Rick but it never hit me until 1998 when I was watching his Vh1 behind the music then while he was singing Mothers Eyes in the studio,it all hit me and I was like WOW! lol This is a cold ass singer?songwriter!
I agree with you on JoJo and Teena, but Val can't even be in the same country as them. Val can't even tour on her own music(food for thought). Rick's hot streak ended with JoJo.
Trust me Val was a tax write -off for Rick and Motown.
