If it were a dramatic performance, with plenty of crying and screaming scenes (which the other nominees were), people would take her winning seriously. You are quite wrong. ANY of the other four actresses are far superior choices, especially Redgrave and Richardson. I mean, really, does anyone think MT is a better actress than Redgrave? Actually, is ANYONE better? No. Not even Streep (whom I love).
MT got the award because she was the only American actress of the five, period. My Cousin Vinny is a lousy movie. And all MT does now is the same floozy/slutty bit.
