"Violin" is the name used in the orchestral or classical environment. "Fiddle" is the name used in the folk, popular, or country-western contexts. Nonetheless, classical violinists may refer to themselves as "fiddlers," and "violin" is also widespread in all environments. It is the same instrument.
Ok, I am comparing this song with the same song these 3 girls did when they where just kids singing with the Gathers and I have to say that I liked the younger version better. Although It is great that they are the ones playing the instruments now, for some reason the vocals just sounded better in the younger version. Perhaps it was the better sound system at the Gather church.
I hope I can find a girl who can sing the upper harmony like this. She sounds like an angel with some soouuuuuulllll. 'Gives me the goosebumps! :-) Very nice.

I agree the younger version is better, here they are more into vocal gymnastics. Its always better to adhere to the KISS principle

@rokarecisu I knew someone would come along with an in-depth explanation. Thanks. ;-)
I still like mine, though: If it's country, blue grass, folk, or cajun, it's a fiddle!! ;-)

Can I marry one of you? And then have babies that sing sweet, sweet melodies? I'm not asking for much.

@panhead16 According to Steve Martin, the difference is that you can spill beer on a fiddle :)

@panhead16 the only difference in a violin and a fiddle is how you play it.
