J'adore cette chanson, que j'avais enregistrée il y a plus de 20 ans, mais je n'ai jamais appris le nom du chanteur (ou du groupe). Peux-tu m'aider ? En tout cas merci pour l'avoir sur YouTube.
This is absolutely Yiddish. Yiddish is an Alemanic tongue from the Rhineland (where the Jews had lived since the 4th C). It was developed from Medieval High German and over time incorporated some Hebrew and Slavic terms. While Yiddish is similar to other Alemanic German dialects (and many German speakers can understand it), it remains a distinct dialect of the Ashkenazi Jews.
It's Yiddish with a German accent actually. You hear that more and more often these days with many Germans singing Yiddish songs. Words like Khadoshem (months) from Hebrew you're not going to hear in any Germanic language other than Yiddish. Plus it was written by the poet Mordechai Gebirtig who lived in Cracow Poland and knew no German.
@ikhveysnit I thought it sounded very German. I'm learning Yiddish, but I speak German and so my pronunciation is way off. It doesn't help that I can't tell easily if I'm listening to a native speaker or not.

Regional German (dialect)... some would too say plain Yiddish. I wouldn't.
