I use a free software called Paint.NET to edit my texture packs.

No, it's not the regular Paint that comes with Windows. It's Paint.NET, witch you have to download and install your self.

I have a question, I tried replacing one of the mushrooms with a mario mushroom but when i packed it back to a zip file, i wasn't able to select the texture pack in the menu although it was shown. Am i unable to do that or what?

@iSoTsunami yeah, don't unzip/re-zip the texture pack... just delete the image file, and drag the new image into it without re-zipping.

Actualy, since john smith's texture pack is under creative commons licencing, as long as you credit him and say that your texture pack e an edit of his, its ok to distribute-it(as long as you make no money out of it)

@martybr0 thats the problem if you have to rezip it.  you should be able to just drag and drop the image into the pack. it's probably set as 'read only' or something... try to change that.

In the download link for your terrain.png, the glass isnt the same as your glass /: its default.

hey monkeyfarm, i put your terrain thing into the john smith texture pack folder after deleating the original terrain thing, and then zipped the file and put it in my minecraft folder. For some reason some of the blocks look a bit different than yours, including glowstone. Do you have any idea what I did wrong? PS Im on a mac.

hey monkeyfarm I just tried to do this and as someone a bit earlier said, when i attempted to put your .png file into the winrar john smith texture pack folder(original no longer in the folder), it went back to the default John Smith texture pack but any blocks that were changed in your image came up as default minecraft blocks i.e. the cobble looked like minecraft cobble not john smith cobble.
