  • my teacher is so bad at explaining things, but this guy knows how to teach things

  • thank u so much, i have a math test on this tmm, and an exam half on it the next day and u helped me so much :) thanks a lot

  • Wow, my teacher is giving us a test tomorrow in 1st period over the 3 systems and you have definitely helped me.

  • wow a math teacher who knows how to teach! say it isnt so!

  • @lukejeter7 i am not a math teacher ; )

  • @patrickJMT well that explains it D:

  • in match this is complicated and i in 7th grade

  • Here I am thinking "wow I am never going to figure this out." and here you are,

Thank you so much I greatly appreciate it GREATLY!

  • @MrShakenBakon come back any time : )

  • @hello888888888888 as both are equal to y, they're equal to each other.

    3x-2=2x+3, resolve normally after that.

  • FINALY SOMEONE WHO MAKES SENCE!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOUUUUU

  • THANK YOU!! My teacher gave us a work sheet and told us to read the chapter to figue out how to do it so thank you for making sence!!!

  • the way you teach it , is more understandable than the way my teach does it ... thanks

  • youre a lefty :O .

  • You have nice hand writing... Ohh and thnx. Your teaching = NO SLEEP IN CLASS!!!

  • This just gets fucking confusing towards the end

  • u messed up a 6:00

  • your arrows look like penis'

  • Fucking hate math

  • @lilzokiller3 Me 2 -.-

  • i got everything. until you added the fraction in. great gotta go find another video.

  • i have a big test tomorrow,if i dont pass i dont graduate

  • @rubyunicorneater did u pass?? O:

  • @nodice100 No, i got a 50%i had to get a B or higher,now they're putting me on a contract and i still might not graduate.

  • thank you grand master elder

  • great vids! i wish my prof. teaches math like you, and spoke good English too. and I'm a junior in college. I cant move on without knowing the basics.

  • what happens when both of the variables have the same sign???

  • @seldemandjbluvthem

what do you mean a variable is like x or y

  • 6:00 I dont get it... can someone tell me how did patrick got 18/3 and why?

  • @sonnytenedo

he did it wrong he was supposed to subtract 4/3 but he subtracted 3y so the answer is wrong

  • Comment removed

  • thank you so much. My teacher should just show your videos to the class instead of rambling on and on.

  • @simba80329 ha, you should suggest that : )

  • @simba80329 Nice idea, imagine that ur teacher show it to ur class nd all the teacher has going to do it sit and relax drink a tea of coffe and go on loptop nd do something fun. While his class is watching the video.

  • What is the value of x if 6x - 5y = 16 and 2x + y = 8?

can anybody help me ? ive done everything and i still dont get et idont know but when i do et i get diferent numbers i really need help ..

  • what happens if after you've solved and you subs. your answers into the equation but you the answer is wrong for one equation but right for the other equation or instead of getting a positive you get a negative. Does that mean that your answer is wrong?

  • @dupsy13 your solution must work for all equations

  • why negative 3?

  • Thank God !!

  • Thank you!!!

  • wat i spend in my 2hr math class can all be summed into this 10 min video.....

  • but how do u know when to add or multiply...?

  • thank you. your a beast at teaching i put it.

  • dangit. :)

  • You're a very good teacher. I'm always looking for better ways to tutor folks in certain areas of math. What sort of pens do you use for these vids?

  • Thank u soooo much. U just probably helped me ace a math test tommorow. My teacher is tupid and all she does is yell stuff that makes no sense. I have learned more in these ten minutes than in the two weeks my teacher has been teaching me.

  • what if there are three linear equations? I have an exam on Monday and I need to know how to solve three linear equations. urgent. thank you patrick =D

  • @danharley13 i have videos on that somewhere

  • i am assume most of the comments about their terrible teachers are kids in the us like me...DAMN WE HAVE SHITTY SCHOOL SYSTEMS...

  • @TrollorBeTroller not the best, i agree, which is why you must spread the word about PatrickJMT! : )

  • Nice video thanks for posting. Math is beautiful!

  • our teacher linked us to this video ^_^ thanks for the simple and informative video mate.

  • @poiery no problem! happy to help

  • I got the first and last problem! but I dont know how you did the third one!! anywaysss!! thankyouuu! (:

  • this is important for the SAT

  • I have all these questions that are set up with variables like this 3x + 2y - z = 1 or x - y = 2......Help?

  • dude. You saved my life! I just got into my Sophmore math class and my freshman math teacher didn't teach us anything! he just sat on the computer, but you saved my life (:

  • @4:50 my maths text book says that if the coefficients of the variable to be eliminated are identical (e.g +2x and +2x, or -7x and -7x), subtract one equation from the other.

but you multiplied the equation by -1...

    please help!!

p.s you have really neat maths hand writing :P

  • you should really need to get a white board

  • Thank god, I'm trying to take 10th grade algebra this year (I'm still a middle schooler) and last year I was in a transition class (which is completely independent) and the stupid textbook didn't explain at all. This helps a ton :)

  • Thank you! You saved me! :DDD

  • @SupaUploadah If you work in certain industries like engineering, statistics, e.t.c

  • What if ucan't just cancel a variable out?

  • WOW! I learned more in 10 minutes of this vid then I did in 1/4 of a school year. If only I didn't fall asleep so much in math class but anyway thanks so much for the video.

  • Talk nerdy to me.

  • cute pictures at the beginning

  • What if by adding neither the Y or the X is eliminated?

  • @Judieg11 is that even possible?

  • @KingNush09 he needed to mulitply -3y by a negative 1, so it would become a positive. (negative times a negative = positive) otherwise it would stay as a -3. (negative 3 times 1 stays negative 3) he needed the two 3y's to cancel out, not add to become +6y. you always trying to eliminate a variable.

  • DANKE HERR MATH MAN

  • My Teachers Racist. Thx 4 The Help. :)

  • You are such a life saver. My retarted teacher does NOT know how to explain this in class. She has a way of teavhing when it's like, "Okay, you have to bring the number here, add this in, subtract from this, use this method, add up the numbers, divide the answer, and simply to get the answer 56." And your stuck sitting in your chair like, "What?" I'm oficially declaring you my Math tacher Patrick!

  • This seems way easyer than in my class. Thanks!~

  • I LOVE YOU THANKS MY TEACHER CANT EXPLAIN ANYTHING CLEAR@@@!!!!!!@!#@!#

  • you lost me in the last one with the positive 4 in the 6x- -10y=4

and how would i solve y+g=12 and 2y+3g=16

  • Why Did He/You Multiply By -1 On Your Second Problem ? Why Not Positive 1?

  • do you have a video on applications on linear systems? Thanks, Kristi

  • i understand but whenever i do a question in the texbook, it is always wrong. WHYYYY iv been watchin over for like 30mins.

  • Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!! From being in 7th grade this video helps sooooooo much and is really easy to understand!!!!!!!

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! My exams are in two days and you've helped me in 10 minutes! :)

  • Thank you! You were very clear about how to do this. I appreciate this a lot. I was struggling on this for a long time. Thanks again! :D

  • x=3y+1

    x-2y=6

how do you do this question

  • @bizen35 do the substitution method

  • How do I do this equation:

    1) 3 + 2x -y = 0

    2) -3 -7y = 10x

    Can anyone help me out?

  • my teacher acts like an a hole in class all we do is standards so we never learn so thanks you really helped me

  • thangs sir you really helped me

  • It appears I am in the same boat as Alot of people. My teacher doesn't explain very well. This helped alot.

    Thanks!

  • @TheGateship well, if you watch the news, all of the teachers are being demonized and fired by the same people that think those on wall street should never lose a job. soon, there will be nothing but all the old, burned out teachers left cause it is all the new teachers losing their jobs.

great job america. keep up the mediocrity.

  • @patrickJMT

A great teacher at my school jsut got fired by a new hard-ass principal because she was too "inappropriate" when she was the only teacher that everyone loved and learned from. Half the school rioted in the halls the day after we found out. Why not fire someone that every student KNOWS is a bad teacher?

  • @AnthonyPellino same shit happened in my highschool man smh theres absolutely no teacher left worth visiting there lol

  • At around 4:30 you multiply everything in the bottom equation by -1, but I'm not sure I understand why and when you're able to do that. I mean, where did that negative one come from? It just seems like it came out of no where... When multiplying by "random" numbers like that, are you only allowed to use negative one, or can you use other "random" numbers too?

  • THANK YOU

  • I'm watching this lesson because my Algebra teacher is horrible. I like the way you explain it a lot better.

  • Ty

  • You are the reason I just passed my math test, the FIRST math test I passed! NO JOKE THANK YOU!

  • i dont get this very often in school and dude u r my savior when it comes to studying i have a test tomorrow well peace!

  • i get confused after 6:00

  • youtube solves everything :)

  • @MHRCODProductions viva the internets

  • @MHRCODProductions Googles your friend!

  • dud your burning threw it....can you explain why you chose to multiply both equation by -3 and 2 in the third problem....why did you choose those numbers....please get answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dsprings510 because if u do that the will equal the same number and they will be opposite integers making is capable of cancelling out the opposites

  • Studying for my math test was useless on my own. I kept procrastinating by watching videos on youtube. then I was like... hey maybe someone on here can Help me! And you have! Tank you So Much! I hope I pass my test! Wish Me Luck!

  • @orchestragleek

    /wish you luck

  • oh my goodness this was so helpful!! thank you!

  • wait so why did you multiply 6 over 1 by 3? did you get the 3 from 3y or from the denomenator in 4 over 3??? please write back thank you

  • Ok well in the last one you said to moltipy the simplified top equation but (-3) and the lower by (2) That part im really confused on. Thank you so much and some one please answer this question because i have a math test tomorrow!

  • HOW DO U DECIDE WHAT NUMBERS TO MULTIPY THEM BY SO ONE CAN CANCEL PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

  • god bless you

  • Your a life savorr!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your math intelligence. My math problem is asking to solve the system of equations: use substitution or elimination method.

    3x-2y=9

x+4y=10 My answer was x =19/7, is this correct?

  • I agree you are definitely easier to understand than my math teacher. I should be paying you the 1500 dollars i'm, paying for his class

  • Dude u are unofficially my teacher for math lol

  • thanks

  • thumbs up if you think we will never use this after high school/post-secondary

  • didn't think you could add them lol...my teach doesnt do it like eh...well...yeah......

  • thanks but last one think not finish yet i need more that

  • I thought we wern't supposed to use markers or pens whe doing math....

  • on one of our test for elimination and it was like 2x+3y=20 3x+7y=10 how would i solve it useing elimination still?Do i do like X1.5?

  • Comment removed

  • i dont get why the -4/-3 becomes positive in the end, is it because you multiplied by -1 in the begining so you multiply back by +1 in the end?? someone please help i have exams tmrw

  • thankyou so much man!:D i passed my class with an A! with the help of ur vids! my first A i got in math btw

  • A 1 hour lesson in class summed up in under 10 minutes. u sir r a genius.

  • i hate fractions

  • You're so helpful man! XD

  • omg i dont get

    4x-3y=12

    4x+3y=24

  • @ChelseaFC1250 -3y (from the first equation) and +3y (from the 2nd) can cancel eachother out. From there you just add 4x +4x and 12+24 and you get 8x=36. 36 divided by 8 should give you 4.5 therefore x=4.5

  • i just cant seem to learn to solve the equations, i asked my teacher and my dad to teach me but it still made no sense

  • Jesus?

  • you must have been so boss at this in school! :p

  • Thank you so much, now i wont fail at life

  • Something must be wrong with the teachers in America.

I am in fifth grade and I learned a whole bunch of math (all the way up to solving quadratic equations with factoring, completing the square, and the quadratic formula) within two hours, yet in school the majority of students (including myself) have been confused over what to do with an equation like 3x + 5 = 32.

  • this is so easy.. and i had no clue what we were doing in math.. because my teacher DOESNT TEACH

  • @skinandbeauty I hear you.

  • thanks for all of the help

  • I wish you could replace my math teacher.

  • I wish I had you as a math teacher! You helped me a lot

  • WOW, bro. Now, my teacher won't be bothering me all day long to come after school. Thanks man.

  • omg life saver

  • u have good hand writing=)

  • i dont get how come my teacher took and hour and half to teach me something that u teached better in 10 min it doesnt make sense yet am learning better off of youtube videos

  • You make it sooo easy, thanks!

  • thank u for writting out the actual problem some people camera skip some steps and i wonder how they get there! thank u! I copied ur whole problem down -thats how i learn- and got it~~ :) I finally understandmath for once!!

  • thank you very much for this. it helped alot

  • Patrick you have helped me so much. I am taking an online class and it is the worst mistake I have made as far as school goes. The only resource provided is the text book which is like reading the most confusing book filled with never ending math terminology. I don't speak math and probably never will. Thanks for breaking it down in a simply way that everyone can understand.

  • Thank you!!! You make a good tutor!! (better than my teacher to tell you the truth!) but this helped out a lot!! :D

  • this helps a lot!

    thanks man.......

  • omg it is so much easier with you my math teacher suckz!! thanks :)

  • Hi Patrick on your 3rd example, how do you know / pick which numbers to multiply by? I see you chose -3 for the first line and 2 for the second.

  • @renzoc 8:57 'The reason I did that was so my x's will cancel'. I think theoretically you could choose any numbers as long as they create a positive __ number and a negative __ number but of the same number. For example a negative 6 on top and a positive 4 on bottom would create negative 12x and positiv 12x. The goal is to cancel so you are left with one variable.

  • Bro, your an awesome teacher! Thank you soo soo much!

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR EXPLANATIONS ARE VERY VERY HELPFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok seriously, every thing i had problems with, i could have just watched your videos...well better late than never :) you're the best!

  • Does one of the variables always need to cancel out?

  • Thank you so much :)

  • i need u too teach me math it all makes sense now!!!!!!!!!

  • would you be able to give some more examples with fractions as the solutions. I am having trouble trying to grasp this concept. I watched it 10 times and still dont understand the fration end of it. Really appreciate it!

  • Quick question, your smart as hell. and how old are you?

  • this is why i love youtube. thumbs up if you agree

  • sir patrick jmt you are the savior to procrastinators everywhere!!!!!!

  • thank you soooo much <3

  • @JosieWubsJB perfect! : )

  • its wierd that i don't get this at school

  • @JosieWubsJB are you getting it now?

  • @patrickJMT Uh. I don't get this one problem.. (Was away, searching through youtube videos not finding any.)

    3x-4y=7

    5x-6y=8

  • the fractions were still confusing. xD. substitution is easier. :)

  • Here is what I have...if you have time, could you solve this and include notes..?

    or an explanation......?

    x+y=3

    x-y=1

    use elimination.......

  • Thanks so much. I hope you'll be able to help in the future.

  • thanks dis really help me alot by doing mi algebra 2 homework i wasnt even gone do it until i lukd it up on how to do it l0l

  • you are amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing

  • @frutosboys ha, i wish i could

  • @patrickJMT I wish you could somehow teach all of us at our schools....All my teacher does is mumble and get tired cause hes to fat to stand or talk...

  • @patrickJMT Elimination is Linear Combinations right?

  • holyy crappp i loveee u i understand this perfectly !!
