No it is not. Look at YouTube for "Sergio Fiorentino", there is a video from the recording session when he played his transcription of the Bach violin sonata.
this piece doesn't really work with the piano because it just can't get the kind of sustainance and power on those soft chords that the violin can. Nice try, though
-- I could listen to this captivating music forever; it's аs if someone was gently stroking my soul ... Ah, the great genius of Bach, whose music is the gift of God to us sinners!
You put it quite poetically, but In every way possible and impossible, I agree with you.

I prefer this to the Godowsky transcription, although I must say the fugue of Godowsky's is closer to Bach's own transcription to organ. I still find this far more powerful though. Thank you very much.
I wouldn't want to play this edition....it sounds like something bach would vomit on because it's just....ugh! no! it doesn't sound like something bach would write
The fact that you "can't see the reason for this transcription" doesn't make it an invalid one. In fact, it goes to show that Bach's music transcends instruments and even sounds good on instruments for which it wasn't intended
Actually, shadowrun45, there aren't ANY works of Bach written for the piano that we know. :-)) And please note that the Fiorentino transcription is not a literal repetition of the violin part on the piano but more an elaborate recreation for piano two hands folllowing closely Bach's original.
Holy fuck...

I wish he could make new recordings :(

I guess this is made by a digital piano / VST instrument, pre recorded by MIDI in a computer.

as a violinist, i find this very enjoyable, but i actually prefer to hear the Bach solo violin works on guitar.

well played - but I can't see the reason for this transcription - aren't there enough works for piano from Bach?

@tastenkasten In case of the Musical Offering, I would have some trust that Bach intended some of the pieces to be played on piano.
