I wonder if maybe Kenpachi is part hollow like Ichigo, albeit more powerful by many orders of magnitude. Ichigo's hollow comes out when he's near death later in the series; it does in this fight too, you actually see an apparition of his mask in his energy release (2:27) Kenpachi's supernatural strength, his being virtually immortal and his demon-like energy releases aren't really explained in the series, he just has them. Being part hollow would explain them quite well. Just a theory.

If Kenpachi can see her why will she not reveal her name to him? I can understand in the beginning, he was just using her as a tool, and did not trust her or want to rely on her power, but I think throughout the course of the series Kenpachi's view has changed. He wants to get stronger.

He's dieng because he killed his owner. Kenpachi doesn't look dead to me. So no, he's not his sword. I had thought he was too, but Kenpachi was revealed to have been fighting hollows and gotten lost.
