  • what class is that ?

  • LOL, leave it to the American driver to be the fat one

  • You must try insanely hard to keep on that weight, i've never seen such a lardass in my life.

  • Everybody's gellin'. Are you gellin'? I'm totally gellin'.

  • Time for part 2 I think

  • The Greatest Shakedown video that DRIVE never made :P Great great stuff from the boys of The Smoking Tire. Congrats.

  • Also my friends and I were pretty upset that we didn't run into TST there, were all fans.

  • At some point on friday one of the Turner BMW's was backed out of the garage before the front left lug nuts were tightened and the wheel fell off right outside of the garage. It was kind of funny to watch and fortunately I don't think anyone/anything got hurt. The race was awesome, gotta love the way those BMW's sound.

  • i saw this race live, was so awesome!

  • I love the smoking tire so much. if i had cash to spare, i'd totally support it.

  • @SiRHumpAlot924 The second one is posted already on tst

  • @smohan123 Yes it's a sequential 6 speed box with straight cut gears. You only need the clutch to get going from a stop after that you just rev match and shift without it

  • @skylineqrt4 This is the smoking tire, not drive

  • @TWINTURBOOWNS Panasonic HPX 170, Canon 5d mk2, and 2 contour hd's

  • When are you guys having another Pod Cast?

  • Great footage guys! I was there from about 8:00 last night the rest of the way through...Was definately rooting for the turner motorsports cars! The smoking tire needs more videos like this to diversify. Not just car reviews and the normal. It's good to be different once in a while.

  • At 2:34 he blips through a few downshifts without clutching. Are they using a sequential gearbox? I couldn't see all of his right arm in the in-car footage. If so, then why retain the clutch pedal?

@TheSmokingTire This is a really nice video. I appreciate the driver insight and the comments about pacing and dynamics of the car as the tires wear and other endurance racing considerations. The in-car footage is great!

This looks like a pretty interesting race. I've never heard of it before today.

  • drives best video yet

  • What did you use to film this? (What type of camera) Thanks

  • I like the intro beats, SmokingTire needs some more marracas and alot more COW BELL, YALL! lol

  • @XenoRacing More COWBELL!

  • @trollprepper ^ This guy knows!!

  • @trollprepper This guy knows!! ^

  • @trollprepper This guy knows!

  • tez tak chce zapierdalac kolka w kolko

  • @theSmokingtire thanks for sharing this great footage. Kindest regards from @RickyRea

  • i used to go to amesbury all the time to check their cars out

  • Sorry, I'm just bored...lol

  • They force that shit in there!!!! That's why they don't use the clutch

  • So the clutch is only for starting off in 1st and maybe for reverse? The clip that focused on the pedals showed the driver not using the clutch when downshifting but stil blipped the throttle. I dont understand how that work.

  • @dineth Exactly, the type of transmissions they run are for the most part are semi automatic, he was still applying gas to rev match, but the clutch is only used for 1st gear.

  • thats how nascar should be. great video though

  • How does someone get a career like this?

  • @AdamWestable start kart racing when you're 8 years old.

  • Sorry Turner, but Roush kicked your ass

  • Love the foot cam. Just make sure when u first try left foot braking, there is no one behind you!

  • @kewl10mac Haha, that's very true. Especially if you're used to a clutch.

  • If Nascar was run on the Road Course instead of the Oval course... I'd actually watch the entire race without falling asleep.

  • wait, so they can adjust the swaybars electronically in car? I don't see how that would work, since swaybar works physically and mechanically, and u adjust it by moving the mounting point to different holes on the physical piece, how could that be done electronically in-car?

  • @KuostA its mechanical

  • @KuostA i know what your talking about, however the new technology in these race prepped cars use mechanisms that simulate that change in length to replicate the effect of the "adjustable sway bar" so to speak. Take the MP4-12C for example, which has full computer controlled sway bars that use advanced systems to get the right adjustments. All unlike my subaru impreza, which uses the old fashioned (i suppose) hole design that you referred to.

  • @qwerty1274 the MP4-12C doesn't have swaybars at all. It has an electronically controlled suspension that gets the job done.

  • @TheSmokingTire yup, i was wrong, thanks and sorry about that.. coulda sworn i saw that somewhere. Guess i should have checked

  • are you guys gunna follow APR ? audi is new to the game there and their cars are more interesting

  • @ecuo4lyf I'm happy they are here but no were not covering them

  • Could he be wearing Dr. Scholl's? 0:55

  • This driver is too fat... If it looses some lbs, it will have better laptimes, less tire wear, and less trouble getting in and out of the car...

  • @weed46 maybe 2-3 hundredths of a second, add that up see what you get

  • @TheSmokingTire 50lbs less can be a tenth or more if you are in touch with racing... F1 cars with 80kg of fuel are 1.5s slower per lap.

If that boy loves so much racing, it should work more to get fit. Not only the weight, but this way, it will have more fatigue during races (even more on endurance ones), and is concentration would get hurt, resulting in poor laptimes or higher risk of accident...

Top racing drivers have intense training programs by some reason... my 2 cents

  • @weed46 agreed 100%

  • not a Turner fan but I like the vid

  • Man this episode was fantastic. Who does the videos because he/she is doing a fantastic job and also the sound is great. Loved it. More please.

  • @baloonia1 The Smoking Tire crew makes these videos.

  • what type of racing is this ... i ant to be this type of racer. anybody know?

  • @ohsoflyvids GT/Sportscar Endurance racing

  • Can't wait for the race tomorrow and for more videos.

  • sick video, but i would rather see car reviews...

  • @cb7pwn The Smoking Tire isn't just about car reviews, we are about everything that makes cars great. Reviews, racing, etc.

  • That BMW engine is a beast!

  • Guys something is wrong with the track. They are making right and left turns.

  • Gotta love the foot work on that dog box ! fvck man i started building a race car and ran out of funds, sold the engine and bought a motor bike.. watching this makes me want to try to build one again :(

  • How did you get this job? I'm about to graduate from the University of Arizona and I love cars and this would be my dream job...let me know, thanks.

  • @nickssnyder Matt Farah started The Smoking Tire himself, I'm sure it helps to have contacts though.

  • @nickssnyder I made it up. if you want this job, you need to make it up too.

  • @TheSmokingTire I get that, but there has to be more to it. I mean BMW won't send a random person one of their premium vehicles, you know? It's awesome that you were able to do this on your own, but how did it start? Like did you reach out to companies with a business plan or offer them something for their time/products?

  • I live next to turner over in amesbury MA

  • good stuff

  • Awesome.

  • speedtv will have a live coverage starting at 2:30p ET on Saturday and lasting until 4p ET on Sunday!

  • Great stuff

  • this channel sucks now

  • @jll8520 why?

  • @jll8520 better then that fat black guy who sings in the hoveround commercials.

  • @jll8520 If you got to go to one of the races i think you'd change your mind on things.

  • Yo! TheSmokinTire! when is the 24h of daytona? and can we get a livestream?

  • @Andrei1900 Saturday 3PM EST.

  • WOOO!

  • I don't understand why they use sequential gearbox on the m3, the stock M-DCT is much faster and it blips on downshifts. Why would you make racing harder than it already is.

  • @DETHROWeed Regulations m8! u can not bring a car wich doesen't compeets in a class of sits own!

  • @DETHROWeed Regualtions.. and it evens up the field which leads to much more exciting races.

  • @DETHROWeed because you can't in this type of racing

  • @DETHROWeed i think a large part of that decision is based on strength (24 hours is a long time to run hard on the stock DCT), and possibly just regulations. my friends dad has a 335is with the same dct gearbox and after only a few laps on a track day it already started to overheat a bit. it's a great gearbox, dont get me wrong, but not the right one for a 24 hour race

  • @DETHROWeed Grand Am regulations require a 6-speed sequential box.

  • How come Drive didn't get filming rights at Daytona and you lot did??, great video guys :)

  • @ARCHERLM there will be daytona stuff on drive, race not till tomorrow

  • @ARCHERLM because if you look deep enough into drive, you'll find The Smoking Tire, where shit originated from.

  • @TheSmokingTire Yep I understand.. I see the original stuff that the smoking Tire has given Drive.. and that is why i'm a big fan of The smoking Tire and the work the staff does.. keep up the good work guys.
