Thunderstorm in Kiev, Ukraine, 1-st of June 2007

The best sleeping waether. I sleep like a baby during these kind of thunderstorms. Not common on the US prarie. We get the ones that hit and hit hard with lots of hail and high winds and moving quickly. The only time I wake up is when lightning strikes VERY close or the tornado sirens go on. If at night, I take cover. During day, I go outside to see where the tornado is. :-D You grow up with tornadoes, it's no big deal, really... Unless you are in the direct path. Then watch and take cover. :-D

I was in Kyiv last year and probably saw this same storm - although thunderstorms are common occurance in Kyiv as well as the numerous power blackouts from the storms - on the average we had 1 blackout per week in Kyiv

2007 the correct name for this city is Kyiv, and Soviet Kiev is extinct----bad spelling 0 out of 10

you know, you are right in a way, but for most folks in the world name Kiev is more familiar then Kyiv, that's why i use it.

i hate Soviet names myself and tend not to use them but sometimes if you want ppl know what you mean you cant avoid them.

wow thats really cool! Where in Kyiv was this filmed? I was on Maidan a couple of month later catching some thunderlightening on video one late rainy night but it wasnt as clear and heavy as this one!
