  • NEVER HEARD THIS VERSION. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS.

  • True memories of Happy, Happy Days. Thanks a lot.

I was 19 then. Freedom of expression and individual liberties were exploding all around me. Truly wonderful....Proper quality. Thanks again.

  • named my studio the chicken shacksound track studio

like stan playing his guitar got all his work

    grtz ben

  • still a classic after all these years

  • I Like.

  • Got drunk with Stan Webb and Roger Chapman of Family in the Shakespear pub in Edinburgh in the early seventies just befoer a gig amazing.

  • Christine Perfect with Chicken Shack - 'I Would Rather Go Blind' - 1969

  • my 45 still plays well too, & the B side with Stan Webb singing is just brilliantly soulful

  • brings back my memories of 1969

  • Glorious cover of an Etta James classic. Stan the Man and Christine Perfect (and the rest of the band, of course) are just, well, perfect on this. First heard this sitting in the bath back in '69 and was knocked sideways by it (not literally, of course). Scrumptious! You can hear the hurt in her voice so clearly, it's painful. 'Night Life' is also a gutsy blues tour de force, demonstrating just what a fine artist Stan Webb is. Great post!

  • One of my all time best songs

  • OUR NIGHT LIFE DOESN'T SKIP!!!! Plus we have more detailed info..... It's posted on my channel!!! You are welcome one and all!!

Thanks for posting this it's a classic!!!!

  • For a hauntingly beautiful voice she's right up there with Sandy Denny

  • @Rhyull Interestingly, Christine won an award for Best British Female singer two years in a row with Chicken Shack, and then Sandy Denny won it!

  • @SilverWolfMoon And both richly deserved this accolade. Christine, of course, went on to mega-success with Fleetwood Mac, but dear Sandy was taken from us all too soon. Had she survived, with better management and handling, who knows what she may have achieved? Now all we have is fond memories.

  • I'd rather be a blind girl, beautiful, Etta James sings this perfectly, love her too x

  • this is pure quality!

  • oh ive heard many versions of this song.. but i really love this.. pure class..soo nice.

  • Thank You my friend, i used have this 45

  • The amazing legato licks on Nightlife...sounds like a 335...and how about a WEM for a very up front sound. I rarely played the A side, I'm a guitar man!!

My Blue Horizon original might make an interesting mouse mat....joke!!

  • stan. u left ya comb at the flowerpot. at last ive got some rock n roll memoribilia. x

  • Rod Stewart did a decent version too.

  • It sounds really good, better than a CD

  • Christine put her own stamp on this song and did not try to slavishly follow Etta's original. Nice to hear this version again as it seems to have got overlooked. Did well in the UK charts at the time as I recall .

  • At last! found this brilliant track after 40 years

  • @The3Ladds WHEW!!! I'm not the only one!! Hope that made you feel better!! This band is HARD to find!!

  • just such a beautiful song, one of my all time.

  • No comments? Well, not surprising, this left me pretty speechless when I fist heard it. I love this track.
