Most people, even the liberal news networks, don't understanding anything about the military and how it works. What John says makes perfect sense. We have major military bases in Korea, Germany, Japan, and other locations that the military occupys and operates... and it's not going to change. What he means is Iraq will now be included on the list of major American overseas military bases. It just how it works. The military won;t randomly pack up its things and leave Germany i.e. Just how it work
i argued two years ago that a barrell of oil would be over $100 a barrel,,,well $200 on the way and gallon of gas in alaska is already almost five dollars a gallon and coming to a town near you...draft...in time my friend...welcome to life in the post 911 world...finally, with high gas prices, people get to see what life is like on the homefront when we are in three wars and have been for many, many years....your wake up call has come...dont fall back asleep..no offense to you by the way..
we are currently in three wars right now......can anyone name all three right now....????????????????? many cannot and even hillary has failed this test....so,,,anyone,,anyone?????????????
well, thanks for that...iraq, afghanistan,,and here is the real shocker,,the international war on terrorism.if you watch the news and I heard h. clinton even remark that we were in two wars, iraq and afghanistan, but left out terrorism...for me, that is amazing for on 911, I thought that day would never be forgotten. many flags were flown on many cars weeks after it but now, we do not even consider that a war anymore..it is amazing to me and the excuses fly but maybe since we have not been
attacked by terrorists domestically since 911, americans have grown to forget..all the criticsim to be thrown around but to not know on the bat that terrorism was a war as well as iraq and afghanistan says many things to me but interpreted by many in everyway possible other than the simple fact that after 911, we will always be in a war against terrorists no matter who is president..but that is my humble opinion but watch the politicians forget to mention it in the news..it is amazing
well, that proves one of my very important points and that is most if not all people are living in a certain or limited state of denial and you demonstrate that. You are not overcome by being curious and really in your heart do not want to know. how anyone could not know amazes me for it is the easiest question out there and not a trick question by no means but no one has answered yet which proves many live in a state of denial..thanks for your honesty and hope the denial thing works for you
nakedbullwinkle - The only "terrorist" responsibe for 911 is the US/UK/Israeli banking cartel and pact that's intent on increasing the Rothschild's corporate stranglehold over the planet. Like the 911 atrocity, the war on terror is a fraud. You have a very limited view and understanding of the world around you. That's what happens when you rely upon the news & entertainment media for an education.
so all those terrorists attacks in the ninties on the trade center, africa, saudi arabia, and the uss cole were all created by the clinton machine???? or, do you know of any terrorist attack internally or internationally in the ninties. so, who created the war on terror..bush...how,,when it was happening in the nineties under clinton..so, no terrorism exists other than us foreign policy in your mind. Narrow mind for me???? No, you are far left loon who has a skewed and limited view of all
nakedwinkie - The only person you're impressing with your ignorance is yourself. It's common knowledge that the FBI supplied the bomb back in 1993 used to damage the WTC, which maimed & killed innocent people. In other words, the bombing was (just as 911) facilitated by infiltrators within the US intelligence agencies. How convenient and fortuitous for you to not know or mention that crucial tidbit of information. Either your dumb as a boot heel, just ignorant, a disinfo agent, or all the above.
it is common knowledge the fbi tried to blow up the world trade centre in 1993???????? what else needs to be said. you are fucked in the head. a conspriacy but cannot say how or who just some abstract concept..clinton is a a conspiracy collaberator with the fbi,,,wow....you are fucked in the head....ciao loser
nakedtwinkie - stop writing and asking me to conduct research for you. Since you're mesmerized by the TV and basically illiterate, you cannot reason and you wouldn't recognize truth if it bit you on the ass.
your lack of answer proves my point. you cannot answer a simple question which means you are full of shit and were called out with one question. You talk shit in your response but still cannot answer one simple question. I win and you lose and we have it on record, loser
so, for the record, this person is fucked in the head and totally out of it. ask one good well placed question and it is like sunlight to cockroaches. instead of answering the question which they know will reveal how strange their views are, they go on the attack and claim of providing free education rather than engaging in a debate of ideas that they can support. well, I have lost count how many of this nuts get nuked with building seven question. try it next time and see how defensive are
buttwinkie - Don't be so quick to congratulate yourself. You haven't "proved" anything - other than you're an incompetent foul mouth. Demanding that I tell you who demolished WTC7 isn't smart; it's the hallmark of an idiot. How in the hell would I know that? I do have enough common sense to see that the building was imploded with demolition charges. You are unable to even see that. You've proven only that you're drinking way too many fluoride/aspartame cocktails during your TV hypnosis sessions.
I looked at your profile. I was going to respond politely, but not now. Your site makes it clear you're an extremist...a "911 Truther" whacko. I find it amusing that almost all of the comments on your site were posted by...YOU!! A conspiracy theory jackass, wearing a little tinfoil hat, talking to himself.
Yeah, I'll rely on my two college degrees, 24 yrs in the fed'l govt, and experiences living/visiting overseas...instead of listening to a paranoid shithead like you.
Think, say and believe whatever fantasy and lies you choose. Obviously you have a propensity for accepting "authority" over truth. How typical your turning to insults and slander rather than any real discussion of the points you disagree with. Fact is you have no point, not even an educated opinion. Your words indicate that you prefer being a good little robot, a yes man who serves his very own executioners.
4ez: Pal, there's nothing to debate re "911 Truth". Understand? Just as there's nothing to debate on subjects like "does dogshit taste good" or "are the leaders of the UN really shapechanging lizards from the Xenon galaxy".
Bring up a legit subject and I'll debate you all day. But...I don't debate bullshit, and I don't debate with paranoid, wild-eyed fanatics.
It's sad really, but in a way I look forward to the day that "know-nothings" like yourself actually see, experience and feel the forthcoming pain and death that's coming. Your blindness to reality and your inherent inability to deal with facts and truth will lead to your own destruction and unfortunately also cause untold hardships for the millions of people who have struggled to inform and help others understand. May your demise be swift.
"May your demise be swift" squeaked the mouse to the lion.
Yeah, I retired in '05 with a 7 figure pension and am living in a custom home in an upscale area. I'm having the time of my life.
So I'll do my thing while you do yours; maintaining a pathetic existence in the lower middle class, in a dead-end job, with no future prospects...all the while gibbering your silly conpsiracy fantasies in an attempt to give your life meaning.
Do yourself a favor. Drop the conspiracy BS and get a cat.
All the justifications you can muster won't change the facts. Millions of people are all wrong and you're the only one who knows the truth? Ha!!! You're lying to yourself and now you're trying to boost your importance. I'm sorry for you. Maybe someday you'll come to your senses. Living in an artificial bubble and telling yourself everything is okay when it isn't is insane. Like they say, ignorance is bliss.
I, myself am not a "conspiracy theorist" like this gentleman, but he makes a much stronger argument than you do. You can't argue with the OVERWHELMING evidence that the US gov't lied about atrocities like Sept. 11th. That's not to say there's proof that we perpetrated it ourselves, but to say the US gov't did not lie is to say you don't believe in air or gravity simply because you don't see it
no, Iraq, afghanistan,,,and,,,,play the music please....the international war on terrorism..remember 911...yes you say and say well is afghanistan count for that...I say no for we are engaged with help of fbi offices all over the world gathering information on every continent except antartica to fight terrorism...ie, terrorists attacks in england, france, spain, middle east, africa, south east asia, and north america..and have been since 1992 with the biggest on 911...the 3rd war is terrorism
are there any mccain supporters here? i really want to know why you support him, because i honestly have no clue why anyone would even consider voting for him
MegaDitt0Head- either your funny as hell, or the perfect example why this country is in the shitter. do us all a favor- go catch a few bullets in Iraq
we are currently in three wars right now......can anyone name all three right now....????????????????? many cannot and even hillary has failed this test....so,,,anyone,,anyone?????????????
The theory that we're doomed & nothing can be done to save us now is fine if your cynical, depressed, and responsible for no one but yourself...............there is no theory..look at history for the last one hundred years..how many wars can you count???? theory???? wwi, ww2, korean war, vietam war, cold war, cuban missle crisis, panama war, bosnia war, persian gulf war 1, 911, afghanistan, iraq war 2, and soon to be iran...yes, I am so negative and this happened in the less than 100 years....
WOW....That was quite a rant. You don't realize....I have no illusions about the negative state we are in...I just choose to focus on whatever I can do to make the future look a little brighter....instead of just giving up. I don't know how much experience you have in life, but let me tell u, things can ALWAYS be worse, & though the dire situation were in must be recognized 4 what it is, dwelling on it is self-destructive. We need 2 focus on solutions 4 the future, however imperfect they may be.
that is why my motto is hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I do not live in denial about the real world out there but hope it can turn around for the better as it did in the eighties and ninties in terms of the economy. but, in terms of international problems rising on the horizon, that has not changed.
lastly, I do not sound optimistic and have good reason. I argued in 1992 that the next eight years was the calm before the real storm and was right. in those eight years, we were attacked by terrorist domestically and internationally and for the record, bill clinton only launched tomahawk missles into soverign and without congress approval into afghanistan to assassitnate bin laden. that is all he did and the cole was attacked in 10/2000 and clinton did nothing. or, you can take the bush option
Everyone in the middle east says its the American presence. How hard is it for McCain to hear those voices? Oh yeah they aren't coming from his corporate sponsors.
If the middle east cuts off the oil supply this nation could chose to react with inovation not bombs. New industries would spring up, technology would advance by leaps. Sure it may be tough for a while but in the end we would triumph over oil dependence, This is America we can do it.
He still doesn't get it. We want ALL troops back on American Soil. We want to live as a Republic, not as slaves to debt. We want our freedoms back and a future for our children.
McCain had a plane shot out from under him and was captured while serving his country. A military on US soil is about as useful as welfare to people stuck in the ghetto their entire lives. If you want to live as a free Republic you had better be prepared to defend it outside the US.
listen to Ron Paul. He has the answers. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that cares about the greatest good for the world. He gives SPECIFIC solutions to the issues of the day. stop being so blinded by this silly war hero shit! its childish.
Actually we've had 6 years of economic growth in this country since the recession that Bush inherited from Clinton. This growth still continues as we speak, although, yes, it has slowed down. George Bush has also created 10,000,000 jobs in America since he has been president. You need to check facts before you make statements like that.
What????? We were NOT in a recession in 2000, we're in a recession NOW. 6 years of economic growth? Are you OK? Do you even watch the news? Is the housing market crash due to economic growth....and the unemployment rate is MUCH higher that it was in 2000! Haven't you heard of the economic stimulus check that people are getting this year? He's a little Economics 101 for you....Economic stimulus checks are an attempt to get the economy going again after its been DESTROYED like Bush has done to us.
hey dipshit pumapaulwaul, clinton balanced the budget and erased the national debt before he left office. where the hell were you during the 90's?! i was paying 89 cents a gallon as opposed to 4 bucks a gallon under bush. the only economic growth has been for the wealthiest 10 percent of americans. those new jobs? private contractors (cronies) paid to do jobs they never finished in iraq. the working man hasn't seen anything close to what you're describing, with your fox news talking points crap!
The tech bubble burst, but that didn't hit most people, mostly the highly educated and the venture capitalist who figure out pretty quickly what their other options are. When real estate goes bust it hurts people who can least afford it. Debt up. Dollar down. Commodity inflation. It's a fucking nightmare scenario for a lot of people. The wealthy could give a fuck as nothing touches them. They'll sell short on the way out.
Is it any wonder McCain wound-up a POW in Vietnam? After listening to this idiot for the last 6 months, I think I now know why they let him go! Who wants this bozo running the country for the next 4 to 8 years?????
How about Iraqi casualties? Weren't we meant to be going into Iraq to help and protect the Iraqis and to help bring along their human rights? Are we now going to ignore all of that and say that it doesn't matter whether they live or die so long as there are no AMERICAN casualties?
haha million years...even an idiot knows how much American imperialism is despised around the world...do a referendum in each country if they want to keep american troops they will get kicked out...America must be embarrassed to have this guy represent them...but then again if they can vote for Bush then God help the world...
We are not seeing the big picture yet. We are witnessing a battle between good and evil. We cant any longer depend on our so called leaders. RP is one person; we need more leaders like him. We have to become leaders ourselves and safe our country and planet from corruption & greed. It's time 2 wake up. We enslave ourselves for money, and then use that money to buy unnecessary things. We work, eat, find a distraction, and sleep. Same cycle till we're 80 and we never accomplish our mission.
Want a strong economy? I say we go into the Federal Reserve and steal all their money, like they have been doing to us for many years. After we take all their money then we charge them with crimes against the U.S. Constitution, and Crimes against humanity, then we execute them all without a trial.
now quote me another positive job stat or economic stat to prove times were good in the ninties but not answer the question;..hey, times were good in the eighties with deficits,,,times were good in the nineties without deficits,,but what did the president due to stimulate the economy in the ninties...what.....
America's prinicpal neocon publications, The Weekly Standard and The Washington Post are fervent advocates of John McCain and his plans for permanent war in the Middle East. Removing the neocons from their position of dominance over American foreign policy is reason enough to vote against John McCain.
Under Bill Clinton, the S&P 500 soared 210%. Since George Bush took office, the S&P 500 has gained 3%. That is not 3% per year. That is 3% over the entire 7+ years.
We cannot afford another four years of George Bush economics under John McCain.
Bill Clinton raised taxes and the $290 billion annual budget deficit turned into a $236 billion surplus. George Bush slashed taxes and the $236 billion surplus turned into a $413 billion deficit. Those are not projections, budgets, or forecasts. Those are actual receipts versus actual outlays.
We cannot afford another four years of Bush economics under John McCain.
what did bill clinton do in the nineties to make the economy be so prosperous?????? YES, BUT,,,,,that increased tax revenue for the united states government...but you did not answer my question because you or no one can..again...what did bill clinton do in the nineties to make the economy be so prosperous??????
yes,,,,,,,I AM AWARE OF THE ECONOMIC PROSPERITY OF THE NINEITES.....you have identified a good economy under clinton but have NOT TOLD ME AND CANNOT HOW TAXED INCREASED HELPED THE ECONOMY...IF TAXES HELP THE ECONOMY, THEN THEY WOULD ALWAYS BE HIGH FOR THAT IS THE SECRET FORMULA FOR SUCCESS WITH YOUR THINKING....again,,,tell me how high taxes taken from the private sector helped the economy of the nineites>>>>>>>>>>>
What I hear you saying is that results do not matter.
What matters is doing what your theory of economics says will work. Regardless of whether it actually works or not. Clinton delivered results, Bush did not.
In fact, the only thing that the President can do that affects the economy is balancing the budget. A balanced budget strengthens the currency, reduces uncertainty, and enriches the people.
Of course, Republican Presidents do not balance budgets, they only claim to.
YOU CANNOT ANSWER THE QUESTION AND AM BEING HARD ON YOU BUT....no one has answered the question.....it is not about high taxes but spending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have repeatedly answered the question. You just do not like the answer because reality does not conform to your political view. Well, that is too bad. You cannot change reality just because you do not like it.
Clinton balanced the budget. Bush destroyed the budget. The only thing the President can do to affect the economy is balance the budget.
In fact over the past 110 years, Republican Presidents move away from balance, Democratic Presidents towards balance. Fact.
and, no budget is ever, ever, ever, going to be balanced ever again...not in the world today, not in three, yes, three theatres of war..you never answered my question and makes me laugh..you think a balanced budget helped the economy by raising taxes...well,, what really helped the economy in the ninties was all the r and d in the eighties paid off in ninties,,i.e. windows 95...no one is balancine anything for many many moons,,the shit hit the fan and we have to take a bite sir...it is over
and clinton was not a heavy spender too which helped balance the budget and the economic boom resulted from the research and dev done in the eighties and paid off in spades,,yes spades, in the ninties,,,heard of the internet???? so, can it be done now putting aside the fact taxes DO NOT STIMUATE THE ECONOMY......UHHH,,NOTHING WILL WORK NOW,,RAISE OR LOWER TAXES...IF IS FUCKED AND FINGER POINTING WILLNOT FIX IT BUT GO FOR IT...
well, when you have a democratic congress in both houses and a democratic president and you are unable to change anything..the fingers will point but the public will not want to hear,,it is their fault, it is their fault,,the democratic party will get roasted and you have no options and we are all,,excuse the language,,fucked,,,too many wars and too many future enemies to ever withdraw for eight years again under clinton..proactive military is here to stay all day,,sorry,,but deal with it
Well, when the shit hits the fan in iran in the next couple of years, all your theory will go out the window...north korea, pakistan, and now Iran,,nice try,,no, it is called reality....coming soon to a denial campus near you...bye back at ya..keep publishing or perishing....
it is easy to do mathematically is spoken like a professor not living in the real world and publish and perish mode all year round..sir, I have no doubt you are intelligent and mean well but you and most america and the world is in a bitter phase of denial...what is the real problem waiting for us all....NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION...it is only matter of time when iran will cross the line forcing israel and america,,even dem president, to be proactive and your theories will not mean anything at all..
You are confusing the debt and the deficit. The deficit is running around $450 billion per year. The debt is around $9 trillion. The budget is easily balanced by allowing the irresponsible Bush tax cuts to expire and maintaining reasonable spending growth rates.
The debt is a different problem. That will likely never be paid off in entirety, and it would be a bad thing if it was. America has always had a debt, since 1776. And much of modern finance depends on its pricing.
If you let the BUsh tax cuts for the wealthy expire and transfer them to the middle class, who desperatly need them, you will likely icrease tax revenue and increase spending by the middle class, which stimulates the economy. So your right, people that cant afford to pay more taxes shouldn't...but the top 1% getting all of these tax cuts in REDICULOUS. So how about not an increase in taxes, but a re-evaluation of who is taxes what amount?
the upper ten percent of income earners purchase almost fifty percent of the economic goods. a reduction in the cap gains tax ended the recession in 2003 and the economy recovered all the jobs lost by end of 2004 due to the cap gain tax cuts. and, overall, the tax revenue was one of the highest on record. when bill clinton ran in 1992, he promised a middle tax cut but changed his mind. any middle class tax cut is a waste of time for gas prices will kill any benefits. you want to stimulate the
ecnoomy, then lower taxes or cap gains tax. either you want a strong economy or income redistribution. and, in all fairness, no matter what you do, it is in my opinion a no win situation. we are in three theatres of war and possible fourth on the way and universal health care will add the the deficit and debt. any policies in my opinion are doomed. any real changes to the world should have been done in the 90s, fuel, heatlh care, global warming, oil was cheap but nothing was done,,thanks billy.
The theory that we're doomed & nothing can be done to save us now is fine if your cynical, depressed, and responsible for no one but yourself....but I have a little girl that I want to live a happy life, so "Its too late to bother trying" is just not an option for me. (Or most people who CARE about the future) Yes, Clinton could have/should have done A LOT more in the 90s about oil dependence, health care, & global warming, but we need 2 keep trying 4 solutions, even if they're not perfect ones.
i hear you and have a friend of mine who has two young children. I bite my tongue as best I can for I know her reaction will be yours. I know you do not want to hear it but history does repeat itself. In 1938, if you asked me what will happen in the next ten years, I would give you such a bleak and horrible picture and you would argue that it was not postive for your new babies. but, it would have been true. see, history repeats itself for we do not want to see the real world around us. you and
you and many live in a protective state of denial as a means of survival which I understand totally. I wrote while in college in 1992 of the scary challenges that await the world with nuclear proliferation for the next twenty years and two nations, pakistand, north korea, acquired it and the threat destabilized the middle east with syria, iraq, and now iran. the real secret to understanding the world is how much nuclear proliferation has happened since 1945..count the countries...too many,,and
and you can hope for the best and prepare for the worst but i ask you honestly to see if you are in denial about some things that exist today. what are the real options...are there any good ones...really...mccain, obama, clinton,,what will they do with nuclear proliferation in iran when israel will be proactive and strike if necessary..what will they do if iran attacks our ships in the strait of hormuz, what will they do if north korea continues to test nuclear bombs, what will they
when china and india continue to suck up the oil market for their exploding economies and the gas prices continue to rise...the use of corn for biofuels is causing the price to explode on the world market and hurting less developed contries. if iran reacts to air strikes by anyone, they will try to disrupt the persian gulf which has almost half the world oil flowing in it..what will that do to gas prices...see the options that are not discussed since they are only negative or actually reality??
lastly, and I wonder if you even read it or just bailed out since it was too negative, you and many will not face the world and make excuses that you do not want to hear it for you have this or that or whatever...well, i quote the line from full metal jacket,,it is a huge shit sandwich and we are all going to have to take a bite.....thus ends the lecture...now let history continue to repeat itself for the next ten years..been down this road in the ninties..what else is new....good day to you
I am an independent and hate to tell you the dems are going to impode this summer for many reasons. if mccain wins, then this country will be torn from within the dem party and the vehement haters towards repubs will continue to a new level. it is a no win situation for us all I am afraid and iran is around the corner for the next war whether you have a dem or repub in office. all I say will happen and gives me no pleasure to say so. I would like to see a dem in white house with the
and dems in congress of both houses that way when after four years nothing changes for the better, then we can take an honest look and say neither party has the answers for there are no answers right now but only options with difficult solutions. nuclear proliferation has resulted in north korea and pakistan to have the bomb and iran is next then the south america and african continent in the next ten to twenty year which leads to further destabilized world..not a pretty picture but reality,
remember the argument in 2004 that it was the worst economysince herbert hoover but all the jobs lost were recovered by 2005 with a postive net job growth..why???? the cap gains tax was lowered and stimulated the economy...yes, spending on iraq, iran, war on terrorism is killing this country but no one will be able to stop the current wars and future wars..hate to give you the dosage of reality here dude........
results are important but how do they happen. I can argue that lower taxes with stimuate the economy and increase job production which has been proven in the eighties and under bush..but,,you point is taken that if spending is not reduced, then the increased tax revenue will be not seen in the economy. if you believe raising taxes helps the economy, and that is the magic bullet, then you have not studied economics 1a or 1b..if you did, then you did not listen..fact is, no options will work now
I have a Phd in economics from the University of Chicago. Raising or lowering taxes has little effect on the economy. It is moving towards a balanced budget that affects the economy. Clinton created 20 million jobs. Bush 1.5 million. Cutting taxes is just a political view. Empirical evidence shows it is balancing the budget that improves an economy whether through increased taxes, or through spending cuts.
"Empirical evidence shows it is balancing the budget that improves an economy whether through increased taxes, or through spending cuts.
Well gee; I wonder what our government is going to choose? Hmm is it going to be increased taxes, or government spending cuts?
Most people who are struggling and working their ass off are going to be taxed EVEN MORE!! That is what the fuck is going to happen! Yeah that is really going to make things better!
well, nice to know you put some time in the topic and kudos to anyone with a phd.. yes, balance budgets are great but that will not happen ever again. second, taxes is not a political view when you are a consumer but when a professor it is a theory. to the common man and woman, taxes are what motivates voters and not deficits...remember mondale...he sure won a lot of votes on deficit reduction..you do not think r and d in the eighties had a role,,come on,,every tech device resulted from that
McCain can talk all he wants to about torture cause its actually happened to him.....Everyone nowadays talks of what they don't know like brutal things in war towards animals and people....have you ever been in combat, served over sea's, fought for someone back home who doesn't care about you? thats what our military does for us.
you have no right to put your hands on another HUMAN BEING unless you are defending yourself or family.when someone IS defenseless as in being chained to a cell door or handcuffed to a wheelchair and continously dunked backward into a tank of freezing water is acceptable.TORTURE IS COWARDLY,EVIL,UNECCESARY,BULLSHIT!AND ANYONE WHO THINKS ITS ACCEPTABLE IS A SCUMBAG ,AND THIS MAN IS A HYPOCRITE,HE HATED HIS OWN TORTURE THEN CONDONES THE TORTURE OF OTHERS. YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.
yeah, you're right... we should just cut ppls heads off... I'm sorry but with water boarding... they still live.... I think you're right. we shouldn't torture... we should just kill them... thanks! You made me a believer!
Oh I think so. Your sense morality is pliable, subject to debate on which acts designed to inflict psychological and and or physical pain are to be considered torture.
The arguments that you have made, lead me to the conclusion that you are unable to understand basic moral and legal arguments.
As you don't know what is, and isn't torture I can place no value at all on your arguments.
You've conveniently omitted more than half the story. True, OBL was encouraged by Somalia. But he was MOTIVATED by the bases in Saudi and the sanction/humiliation of the Iraqis. He said so in his declaration of war against the U.S. a few yrs. before 9/11.
"What you seem to be ignoring is that what is torture is not clear."
For many people, that statement is becoming obvious. Perhaps people who believe that we should inflict certain techniques on others, should spend a few days having it done to them, so that they can better decide?
Would you like to undergo days or weeks of repeated water torture to help you decide?
For myself, I have no problem stating that any action designed to inflict pain and suffering on another creature, is torture.
Furthermore, it is our current occupation of iraq that is breeding the next generation of terrorists. Im not advocating isolationism, but coexistence is not achieved by replacing one form of oppression for another. And yes i do believe the iraqi people are currently being oppressed by our gov. The fact remains that our endeavors in the mid east have had disasterous consequences. And continuing similar policies will predicably bring similar results
whoa...did i say it was justified? i guess that happens anytime anyone says anything about US policies contributing to the causes of 911. im not advocating isolationism, but i think we can agree that some of our policies/actions in the middle east are viewed in a negative way, and that the predictable responses are acts of terrorism.
Bush argued that if his torture bill isn't signed then the terrorist will strike us at home, and it puts are war in Iraq at risk. As Rush Limbaugh says, "Words mean things."
Too bad you couldn't provide a link.
I'll go with the articles I've googled that say he's anti-Ethanol subsidies and the articles that say he is pro-ethanol subsidies.
The man talks out of both sides of his mouth. He's flip flopper, a hypocrite and a liar. just like Hillary.
If his scenario is achieved, then McCain is right. It would serve our interests to have a permanent base in Iraq. What is debateable is whether or not that scenario of there being no casualties or attacks on US forces while in Iraq is realistic in the first place.
He voted to continue the torture program. That act is a war crime.
You forget all of the Japanese and German soldiers that were executed for torturing POWs during WWII. The Japanese used waterboarding extensively and the officers that engaged in this practiced were executed by hanging and firing squad.
Drawing the line at not committing crimes in view, is a good solid place to put that line. We can dicker over ethics that are legal.
Iraq and torture go together. Bush has made it clear that we'll lose the war if we don't torture POWs.
Have you got a link on his speech on ethanol? I'd like to see it.
On immigration reform he says different things in different places. He's all over the map, just saying what pops into his head. Have you got a reference to an actual vote he has placed on it? The bill number?
There are some principles that should not be sold out.
McCain's consistent record in lobbying for and voting for more war and torture, while telling us that he is against these things, makes me believe that he is evil and hypocritical.
"Policy is difficult. Torture is wrong. Drawing the line is not easy."
He only does what is easy. He's morally lazy. He never stands up for what is right. i don't need a rep that only does easy.
"emotionally barren" - My apologies, I was thinking in terms of extreme individualism, where 'self' is all that matters. I've known too many neocons here in Texas, that believe in this philosophy. They have the emotional maturity of children. It's all about 'Me' for them. And they identify with Bush.
We agree on the tension part. For the record, I do not like any of the candidates. Obama only has an advantage in my view, of have the least dangerous accumulation of negatives of the three.
Violent Imperialism is just a form of free expression?
If true, then isn't terrorism, 'the act of inspiring fear to accomplish political goals', is also a form of free expression?
It is hard still to understand why we have bases in Japan and Germany to this day, except as a threat and reminder that we own them as colonies. Which is true.
So it comes down to I think, a question of whether the USA should be an Empire or a Republic. Those on the side of Empire are winning.
Yes, it was about multiple forms of torture and other unconstitutional activities.
I agree with you.
Do you agree with McCain that torture is evil and that civilized countries do not practice it? Do you agree with McCain that the USA should torture POWs?
And are you saying that we should not talk badly about people who practice and condone evil things? That evil people who do evil things should not be called on it?
What exactly does he mean "secure bases in that part of the world as we do in Kuwait"? We have secure bases in Saudi Arabia and, OH YEAH!, Kuwait. If that isn't in "that part of the world" than Arizona isn't in THIS part of the world. And frankly I don't know that I feel all that great having bases all over the world when the terrorism hits HERE.
Just how it work

well, thanks for that...iraq, afghanistan,,and here is the real shocker,,the international war on terrorism.if you watch the news and I heard h. clinton even remark that we were in two wars, iraq and afghanistan, but left out terrorism...for me, that is amazing for on 911, I thought that day would never be forgotten. many flags were flown on many cars weeks after it but now, we do not even consider that a war anymore..it is amazing to me and the excuses fly but maybe since we have not been
nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
attacked by terrorists domestically since 911, americans have grown to forget..all the criticsim to be thrown around but to not know on the bat that terrorism was a war as well as iraq and afghanistan says many things to me but interpreted by many in everyway possible other than the simple fact that after 911, we will always be in a war against terrorists no matter who is president..but that is my humble opinion but watch the politicians forget to mention it in the news..it is amazing

nakedbullwinkle - The only "terrorist" responsibe for 911 is the US/UK/Israeli banking cartel and pact that's intent on increasing the Rothschild's corporate stranglehold over the planet. Like the 911 atrocity, the war on terror is a fraud. You have a very limited view and understanding of the world around you. That's what happens when you rely upon the news & entertainment media for an education.
4ezMoney 3 years ago
so all those terrorists attacks in the ninties on the trade center, africa, saudi arabia, and the uss cole were all created by the clinton machine???? or, do you know of any terrorist attack internally or internationally in the ninties. so, who created the war on terror..bush...how,,when it was happening in the nineties under clinton..so, no terrorism exists other than us foreign policy in your mind.

4ezMoney 3 years ago
it is common knowledge the fbi tried to blow up the world trade centre in 1993???????? what else needs to be said. you are fucked in the head. a conspriacy but cannot say how or who just some abstract concept..clinton is a a conspiracy collaberator with the fbi,,,wow....you are fucked in the head....ciao loser

so, for the record, this person is fucked in the head and totally out of it. ask one good well placed question and it is like sunlight to cockroaches. instead of answering the question which they know will reveal how strange their views are, they go on the attack and claim of providing free education rather than engaging in a debate of ideas that they can support. well, I have lost count how many of this nuts get nuked with building seven question. try it next time and see how defensive are
nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
buttwinkie - Don't be so quick to congratulate yourself.

Do yourself a favor. Drop the conspiracy BS and get a cat.
JohnR22926 3 years ago

Inter country and intra country cargo is down indicating biz production is down
The CPI or cost of living is higher than any other time in history

Everyone in the middle east says its the American presence. How hard is it for McCain to hear those voices? Oh yeah they aren't coming from his corporate sponsors.
If the middle east cuts off the oil supply this nation could chose to react with inovation not bombs. New industries would spring up, technology would advance by leaps. Sure it may be tough for a while but in the end we would triumph over oil dependence, This is America we can do it.

Actually we've had 6 years of economic growth in this country since the recession that Bush inherited from Clinton. This growth still continues as we speak, although, yes, it has slowed down. George Bush has also created 10,000,000 jobs in America since he has been president. You need to check facts before you make statements like that.
pumapaulwaul 3 years ago
What????? We were NOT in a recession in 2000, we're in a recession NOW. 6 years of economic growth? Are you OK? Do you even watch the news? He's a little Economics 101 for you....Economic stimulus checks are an attempt to get the economy going again after its been DESTROYED like Bush has done to us.

Bill Clinton raised taxes and the $290 billion annual budget deficit turned into a $236 billion surplus. George Bush slashed taxes and the $236 billion surplus turned into a $413 billion deficit. Those are not projections, budgets, or forecasts. Those are actual receipts versus actual outlays.

nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
What I hear you saying is that results do not matter.
What matters is doing what your theory of economics says will work. Regardless of whether it actually works or not. Clinton delivered results, Bush did not.
In fact, the only thing that the President can do that affects the economy is balancing the budget. A balanced budget strengthens the currency, reduces uncertainty, and enriches the people.
Of course, Republican Presidents do not balance budgets, they only claim to.
Richardgwm 3 years ago
YOU CANNOT ANSWER THE QUESTION AND AM BEING HARD ON YOU BUT....no one has answered the question.....it is not about high taxes but spending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
I have repeatedly answered the question. You just do not like the answer because reality does not conform to your political view. Well, that is too bad. You cannot change reality just because you do not like it.
Clinton balanced the budget. Bush destroyed the budget. The only thing the President can do to affect the economy is balance the budget.
In fact over the past 110 years, Republican Presidents move away from balance, Democratic Presidents towards balance. Fact.
Richardgwm 3 years ago
and, no budget is ever, ever, ever, going to be balanced ever again...not in the world today, not in three, yes, three theatres of war..you never answered my question and makes me laugh..you think a balanced budget helped the economy by raising taxes...well,, what really helped the economy in the ninties was all the r and d in the eighties paid off in ninties,,i.e. windows 95...no one is balancine anything for many many moons,,the shit hit the fan and we have to take a bite sir...it is over
nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
and clinton was not a heavy spender too which helped balance the budget and the economic boom resulted from the research and dev done in the eighties and paid off in spades,,yes spades, in the ninties,,,heard of the internet???? so, can it be done now putting aside the fact taxes DO NOT STIMUATE THE ECONOMY......UHHH,,NOTHING WILL WORK NOW,,RAISE OR LOWER TAXES...IF IS FUCKED AND FINGER POINTING WILLNOT FIX IT BUT GO FOR IT...
nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
The budget is easily balanced by allowing Bush's irresponsible tax cuts to expire and maintaining reasonable spending growth rates.
That is it is easy to do mathematically. Politically, it is not so easy because of the Republicans irrational hatred of taxes.

How is ANYONE going to balance a Federal budget deficit of NINE TRILLION DOLLARS?
404ErrorNotfound 3 years ago
You are confusing the debt and the deficit. The deficit is running around $450 billion per year. The debt is around $9 trillion. The budget is easily balanced by allowing the irresponsible Bush tax cuts to expire and maintaining reasonable spending growth rates.
The debt is a different problem. That will likely never be paid off in entirety, and it would be a bad thing if it was. America has always had a debt, since 1776. And much of modern finance depends on its pricing.
Richardgwm 3 years ago
Richardgwm
Who do you feel is primarily responsible for that debt and why?
404ErrorNotfound 3 years ago

I wrote while in college in 1992 of the scary challenges that await the world with nuclear proliferation for the next twenty years and two nations, pakistand, north korea, acquired it and the threat destabilized the middle east with syria, iraq, and now iran. the real secret to understanding the world is how much nuclear proliferation has happened since 1945..count the countries...too many,,and

when china and india continue to suck up the oil market for their exploding economies and the gas prices continue to rise...the use of corn for biofuels is causing the price to explode on the world market and hurting less developed contries. if iran reacts to air strikes by anyone, they will try to disrupt the persian gulf which has almost half the world oil flowing in it..what will that do to gas prices...see the options that are not discussed since they are only negative or actually reality??

results are important but how do they happen. I can argue that lower taxes with stimuate the economy and increase job production which has been proven in the eighties and under bush..but,,you point is taken that if spending is not reduced, then the increased tax revenue will be not seen in the economy. if you believe raising taxes helps the economy, and that is the magic bullet, then you have not studied economics 1a or 1b..if you did, then you did not listen..fact is, no options will work now
nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
I have a Phd in economics from the University of Chicago. Raising or lowering taxes has little effect on the economy. It is moving towards a balanced budget that affects the economy. Clinton created 20 million jobs. Bush 1.5 million. Cutting taxes is just a political view. Empirical evidence shows it is balancing the budget that improves an economy whether through increased taxes, or through spending cuts.

Well gee; I wonder what our government is going to choose? Hmm is it going to be increased taxes, or government spending cuts?
Most people who are struggling and working their ass off are going to be taxed EVEN MORE!! That is what the fuck is going to happen! Yeah that is really going to make things better!

nakedbullwinkle 3 years ago
well, nice to know you put some time in the topic and kudos to anyone with a phd.. yes, balance budgets are great but that will not happen ever again. second, taxes is not a political view when you are a consumer but when a professor it is a theory. to the common man and woman, taxes are what motivates voters and not deficits...remember mondale...he sure won a lot of votes on deficit reduction..you do not think r and d in the eighties had a role,,come on,,every tech device resulted from that

raising taxed helps raise tax revenue but how does taking money out of the private sector help stimulate the economy??????????????

We cannot afford another four years of Bush economics under John McCain.

so the question he should be asked is: "what to do if it is impossible to get the casualties to zero?"

'"War crimes advocate." Hardly.'
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
You've conveniently omitted more than half the story. True, OBL was encouraged by Somalia. But he was MOTIVATED by the bases in Saudi and the sanction/humiliation of the Iraqis. He said so in his declaration of war against the U.S. a few yrs. before 9/11.
iseeum 3 years ago
Then, you are lying. I did 'The Google'. I found references to McCain's flip flop on ethanol.
I shouldn't be surprised that a war crimes advocate like yourself would lie about this.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
You are a liar.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
"What you seem to be ignoring is that what is torture is not clear."
For many people, that statement is becoming obvious. Perhaps people who believe that we should inflict certain techniques on others, should spend a few days having it done to them, so that they can better decide?
Would you like to undergo days or weeks of repeated water torture to help you decide?
For myself, I have no problem stating that any action designed to inflict pain and suffering on another creature, is torture.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
Furthermore, it is our current occupation of iraq that is breeding the next generation of terrorists. Im not advocating isolationism, but coexistence is not achieved by replacing one form of oppression for another. And yes i do believe the iraqi people are currently being oppressed by our gov. The fact remains that our endeavors in the mid east have had disasterous consequences. And continuing similar policies will predicably bring similar results
mcalien24 3 years ago
whoa...did i say it was justified? i guess that happens anytime anyone says anything about US policies contributing to the causes of 911. im not advocating isolationism, but i think we can agree that some of our policies/actions in the middle east are viewed in a negative way, and that the predictable responses are acts of terrorism.
mcalien24 3 years ago
No. We should not torture POWs. there is no debate needed on which torture techniques we'll engage in.
If we torture POWs, then the next time China captures some of our soldiers, they'll have precedent for torturing them as they see fit.
Torture is evil. It is a crime. It is wrong. It does not prevent terrorism. Jack Bauer is a fictional character.
Torture is a tool used by fascist states to brainwash people into giving false confessions for political purposes. Is this who we want to be?

Bush argued that if his torture bill isn't signed then the terrorist will strike us at home, and it puts are war in Iraq at risk. As Rush Limbaugh says, "Words mean things."
Too bad you couldn't provide a link.
I'll go with the articles I've googled that say he's anti-Ethanol subsidies and the articles that say he is pro-ethanol subsidies.
The man talks out of both sides of his mouth. He's flip flopper, a hypocrite and a liar. just like Hillary.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
If his scenario is achieved, then McCain is right. It would serve our interests to have a permanent base in Iraq. What is debateable is whether or not that scenario of there being no casualties or attacks on US forces while in Iraq is realistic in the first place.
ImperiusRex 3 years ago
He voted to continue the torture program. That act is a war crime.
You forget all of the Japanese and German soldiers that were executed for torturing POWs during WWII. The Japanese used waterboarding extensively and the officers that engaged in this practiced were executed by hanging and firing squad.
Drawing the line at not committing crimes in view, is a good solid place to put that line. We can dicker over ethics that are legal.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
Iraq and torture go together. Bush has made it clear that we'll lose the war if we don't torture POWs.
Have you got a link on his speech on ethanol? I'd like to see it.
On immigration reform he says different things in different places. He's all over the map, just saying what pops into his head. Have you got a reference to an actual vote he has placed on it? The bill number?

911 taught us that in the middle east, american presence equals american casualties.

Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
And i find it hard to accept your argument for taking the easy road in embracing evil and illegal deeds.
Torture is a war crime, that is punishable by execution.
How about we draw the line at, don't commit crimes?
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
"emotionally barren" - My apologies, I was thinking in terms of extreme individualism, where 'self' is all that matters. I've known too many neocons here in Texas, that believe in this philosophy. They have the emotional maturity of children. It's all about 'Me' for them. And they identify with Bush.
We agree on the tension part. For the record, I do not like any of the candidates. Obama only has an advantage in my view, of have the least dangerous accumulation of negatives of the three.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago 2
Violent Imperialism is just a form of free expression?
If true, then isn't terrorism, 'the act of inspiring fear to accomplish political goals', is also a form of free expression?
It is hard still to understand why we have bases in Japan and Germany to this day, except as a threat and reminder that we own them as colonies. Which is true.
So it comes down to I think, a question of whether the USA should be an Empire or a Republic. Those on the side of Empire are winning.
Weaseldog2001 3 years ago
