  • I don't see it as paying for design and portability, I see it as paying more money for less stuff. This should be priced CHEAPER than the Unibody MacBook. For a bit of extra weight, and basically the same size save for thickness (the least relevant dimension by the way), you get way better features for less cash. I don't understand the logic of paying 340 quid more for less, other than as a shallow or ill-conceived fashion statement.

  • ok u people need to understand......

pc's have more RAM because they need it vista requires 2 GB

    leopard requires 256MB!!!

another reason pc got fucked my MAC

  • You're stupid. Be quiet.

  • um your a fuck head

    be quiet...

vista is a bitch and a cpu hog and ram hog

fuck u and fuck ur litle shitty os

  • da macbook air is targeted 2, unlike its other computers, a very specific group. it is targeted 2 either people who travel or students who want a thin laptop, who doesnt need a fast processor or need a lot of memory. that is da point 2 da macbook air

  • yeah, but students should just get the macbook, its cheaper, faster, and its already pretty small

  • Its obvious that the Air is not the everyday priced laptop. It was an expensive entrepreneurial move from Apple. To say that you don't understand apple's decision is to say you can't foresee trends in the marketplace. There are plenty of people who CAN afford this laptop, not the average Joes of course. There are over 10 million people in america with salaries above $100,000, if 0.5% of them decide to buy an Air thats 100 million dollars in sales right there.

  • it costs so much because they had to miniturize alot of the parts, to fit in it...and also they NEED a CD Drive and more USB ports!

  • when has apple not over charged on their systems? Out of all the apple systems i see are over 1,000.IDK what apple thinks? Can someone please explain.

  • lol. i know! lmao.

    look/hear at 3:53 and 3:56! lol.

  • it sounds pretty stupid but if i'm out on a windy day that mac might blow away lol

  • I agree! The MacBok Air falls in a gap because it nearly has the price tag of the macbook pro, but has worse features then the lower end macbook. I do not think it will sell well with such a high price tag.

  • Well for Apple and its shareholders its great to save money by not including very many available features. Wait a year from now, it probably have way more features. They know that there are people that will buy it now, then later in the year, release stuff and upgrade to what is available now to boost some sales to the people that won't buy now and keep the stock high. Apple is brilliant with their marketing.

  • Also, it will be a new class of notebooks, sub-notebooks for people that want more than an iPhone, but more portability than a Macbook, and not necessarily needing all the features of a Macbook or Macbook pro.

  • the the thing is, macbook bro is cheaper than the air, so all your paying for is for something thinner, with less features

  • Bro, lulz.

    It's because of the portability.

  • This machine is for the traveller that uses wifi. It is not a desktop machine.

How often do people use their CD's now? The last time I used my optical drive was to install Leopard.

  • Personally, I use my MacBook's SuperDrive all the time. I burn Divx video to CD-RW for playback on my Divx compatibile DVD player. I make DVDs for my friends. I use it to burn CDs for the car (MP3s sound like turd!), and most importantly I use it to backup my data. For $1,800 and 2 GB of RAM, the SuperDrive should come with it!

  • Ok, but you won't be burning DIVX or making Backups on the road... As he said it's for travelers. And the $1800 price tag, it's not high, the others Ultra-compacts on the market with 11' displays and 1.0 to 1.2 gHz processors, range from $2000 to $3000.

  • I agree with ricardobrusd, anyways, if you need a machine that uses more than 2 gigs of Ram the air is not for you, I had an XPS gaming PC with 2 gigs of ram and it screams!!! as for you comparing it to the pro, two very different machines, this machine was made to be a secondary machine, it was made to be ulra portable and certainly not made to handle HD media of anysort, go online and look at any subnotebook with better specs for less money, as for the disc drive, HELLO it can borrow the disc

  • Drive of other computers..... thats pretty freakin advanced, For the record, who are you, what do you know and why should I listen to you? do you know anymore than apple, you an engineer? the thing is less that half an inch thick! comon man, if someone needs a disc drive that badly they can buy it, apple gives that option.

  • For the record, he's a Mac user expressing his opinion you ignorant asshole. Does he know more than Apple? What a dumbass remark... He knows what "He" wants, unlike mindless puppets like you who suck Steve Job's balls.

I have 5 Macs, 2 iPods, and an iPhone and this thing is an overpriced POS. Some of us Mac Users can think for ourselves.

  • well you have your opinions... but my argument has already been won, the air has been the #1 seller since the month it was released! so obviously the majority of apples buyers dont think its a POS, you ignorant asshole. as for you owning 5 macs, does that suddenly make you an expert on the issue? I sell, fix and upgrade these machines on a daily basis, and what I do know is that a majority people dont care about fast processors or maxed out RAM, they just want to browse the web and do

  • word documents and listen to music, and the air is very capable of doing that! so that and the fact that its as thin as it is makes the air quite an appealing machine!

  • No Star, you don't sell OR fix these machines or perform upgrades. Hahahahaha You're an unemployed bum, an Internet Bigwig Nobody who runs your mouth on YouTube. Have a nice life, you big time Mac Expert...

PS Mommy's calling, ... she wants ya to eat some supper!!!!

  • Ok I will! have fun sitting at home behind your five macs calling people names and starting fights on youtube. you cowardly no life.

  • Excellent video. I think the thinness is excellent, but the compromises to get that, for example Ethernet which I want, are too much for me. I can't understand how Steve Jobs said they didn't compromise!
