@meade916 Yeah I noticed the Cadence ended up being dropped anyhow, but I wasnt sure of the coil/s on the old RF sub as well. Just me being picky. It looks like pretty much everyone was taken care of anyhow, win or lose.

My question would have to go to the teams themselves. Why would you tune your box to mid 30 hz when one of the big factors in winning was SPL? The team that won could have used less wood, tuned to say 40hz-50hz and had a sizable increase in spl. The team the build the sealed box...wth were they thinking, not that it mattered since their sub went the way of the junk pile. But I suppose they won either way but not knowing then when making the build I would have tuned higher.
@yzf7steve well they were tested between 21 & 80 htz and it needed to be able do as close to all of the frequencies as well as possible so thats y we tuned to the 30s seemed to work out prity well for us , in the car at least.

I am currently running a factory made Kicker CVR enclosure and after doing the math it's tuned to around 39hz. It is loud as hell but thinking about building my own and bring that down to lower 30's. I love loud but I listen to alot of Death Metal and Black Metal and like a flatter curve on my box's response.
@yzf7steve depending if its 12s or what me and my team mate brandon generaly tune our boxes to about 34 or 35 for our twelves works prity good for a fairly wide range of music as long as ur deck has a decent cross over. iv got my 2 p2 12s in a ported box we built and i beleive its tuned to 34 and they get prity low and dont try to kill themselves when i listen to rock or metal if u build your own i strongly suggest playing with a slot port the contest was the first time we even tryed a slot port

My only concern with going with a larger enclosure is I'm already overpowering the subs by 100 watts per sub. If I went with a larger enclosure I'm worried I might exceed the physical limits on the sub. The factory box is shared chamber at just over 3 cu. ft. tuned to 38-39hz. I'm running an older Pioneer 5000 series which I love.
my mates sound system dealer was the on who said to kicker do not sell ur subwoofer or u will go bust... low n behold... it went bust :L he also advised my mate go for alpine :)
@meade916 im not against fosgate at all. i love that amp and id love to have it. but a whole system sounds better for that price to me because i do not have a huge amount of money for this kind of stuff and im not "sponcered" by them either. the AQ 2200 is going for 429 rite not and the subs for 279 for copper coil and 340 for aluminum. so for the price of just that amp i could actually get 4 copper voice coil 18s and an AQ 3500(799). so for a working 17 year old who buys his own, AQ is better
@trent1234108 MSRP on that AQ2200 is $875, the AQ3500 is MSRP $1599.99. Those subs are $340 each but im sure MSRP is twice that...just like the rest of their gear. You also have to understand, RF is a 35yr old company, a REAL company, not someone ordering equipment from some far away place and selling them on the internet from his house. Not that their is anything wrong with that but im trying to explain the difference. Plus there is technology in this amp that other brands simply dont have.

@meade916 I'm sure you prolly know what he's asking...but for those who dont, he's asking if the subs will blow since there seems to be no port, but the answer is no, a regular sealed box in your trunk is the same way...there's no port to blow the air out, or bring more in, but the box is not air tight, the subs make the bass by flexing in and out, causing the air in the box and out of the box to move. If i'm wrong, please, Steve, or someone on here explain. I'll take it as no insult and learn.
@letemrip32 Steve built those towers with passive radiator cones on either side of the sub. The passive radiator looks just like a sub on the outside but has no magnet structure behind it. They allow the internal volume of the box to expand and contract while the sub is playing and therefore it reacts very similar to a ported box without the need for a physical hole. This setup is pretty popular in home theater. Hope this clears it up a bit.

@meade916 I'm sure you prolly know what he's asking...but for those who dont, he's asking if the subs will blow since there seems to be no port, but the answer is no, a regular sealed box in your trunk is the same way...there's no port to blow the air out, or bring more in, but the box is not air tight, the subs make the bass by flexing in and out, causing the air in the box and out of the box to move. If i'm wrong, please, Steve, or someone on here explain. I'll take it as no insult and learn.

@letemrip32 Steve built those towers with passive radiator cones on either side of the sub. The passive radiator looks just like a sub on the outside but has no magnet structure behind it. They allow the internal volume of the box to expand and contract while the sub is playing and therefore it reacts very similar to a ported box without the need for a physical hole. This setup is pretty popular in home theater. Hope this clears it up a bit.
