  • Who can tell me more on Linwood? Who are his friends and how do I get in touch?

  • great band remember hearing them in dublin in the early 1980s when the only other us bands we could get were the avengers, vandals, crime and of course the canadian mob.powerful stuff

  • I used to hang out with Dede Troit all the time back in the 90s, sold merch for her at gigs and everything. I would go hang at her place when I was bored and the guys from Total Chaos would practice at her place in Los Feliz. These days now she's a heavily devout Christian, needless to say, not a lot of people hung with her after that cause she would go nonstop about it. Still, those were some great days, Got to hang out with Steve Ignorant and stole Jello Biafra's number from her phonebook!

  • Are they still playing? Last time I saw them was in '99 or so at Sacred Grounds in San Pedro.

  • Last Month they had a punk re-union some were in the West side of LA. Agent Orange, Middle Class, Adolescents, and couple of other band came together to play for old times.

  • Yeah, Dee Dee still lives and plays in L.A. UXA just played at the Redwood Bar and Grill. She also plays christian rock. She used to live in my house along with Haunted Garage before I did. She's rad.

  • Shes a TRUE LEGEND!!! No one can come close to Dee Dee!!!!!!!!!

  • I Have a Bootleg live with a white cover & a hand stamped 'UXA' label . Actually a decent record

  • We played with UXA at Godzillas. Great great band. Too bad the drummer was so loaded that night that it pretty much blew their set.

  • Who are you ? I spent the end of '81 there allthe time.

  • Eric Shipley. I played guitar in Red Brigade and Kent State. Lots of great shows at Godzilla's eh? The Damned was a good one too.

  • Wow,just remembered I have Kent State on a Rodney On the Roq comp.UXA's "Immunity" was on Posh Hits volume one I think? Have to delve though my vinyl-it's old and mouldy as I am.

  • What a wonderful clip. This band was something to behold. Overlooked and underappreciated to be sure. The history of punk rock is yet to be completed indeed.

  • I remember De De from the L.A. scene circa 1980, she was a kind person and a real sweetheart, never got to know her very well, all these years later I wish I had. I'd love to see her again, come out De De wherever you are!!

  • Billy, got your msg, I can not respond until we are youtube friends, I sent a friend request.

  • I am near San Francisco, I film bands up here and love to watch/film the SF punk bands from 70's and would love to watch Denise perform...I hear she played Annies Social Club in SF a year ago but I did not hear about the show. Anyone have an e-mail or internet link so I can inquire of De De about upcoming shows? Or pass word to her that I would love to film her and she can have original tape I just want copy. I will even chip in for her performance fee if she plays in SF....

  • De De's great (and beautiful).

  • This is Billy Southard - U.X.A. guitarist '78 to '82. The vid is 30 years old. The "psychic vampire" is so cruel that she still sends Kowalski's mother a fifth of the royalties (a pittance) from the 2 versions of IOG Robbie (aka Posh Boy) Fields released.

  • dee dee is hot and she has a great voice

  • Met Dee Dee in '94 when I moved back to LA after getting stabbed by a skinhead in Reno. We were friends for a while until like a thoughtless junky I lost contact. She knew I was and had been strung for years and was nothing but kind to me. She never preached to me or anyone that I saw nor did she sell or use drugs-- she just ripped. Last saw her on Tree Punk tour '96 I think. Blistering show. She could vote for L. Ron and I'd still hold her in highest regard. A great musician and a great lady.

  • Man!!, I've forgotten all about UXA!! Whoever you are Joeyfumes, Thanks for rekindling my memory. I saw UXA in and around L.A. during then late 70's. Much fun back then.

  • Do you by any chance know where Dee Dee might be now? If shes still playing with UXA or what.

  • i dont know her, but know someone that played with her in the 90's. as far as i know UXA is done and Dee Dee is is religious to some?? degree now.

  • De De may have a band called U.X.A. now but I couldn't tell you what to expect. The last real U.X.A. ceased to exist in Spring of '82 when she left NYC.

]Two "reunion" shows, one with O'Sullivan, Southard, O'Connell, and Troit and one with a substitute drummer took place in 1984.

  • @guitarcontreras

    She lives in SoCal.

  • cool live footage. my favorite punk songs are always the dark and gloomy ones... and this pretty much tops the list. hail UXA!

  • Classy. So you know her. Why don't you settle your soap opera in person.

Just after this vid she came to LA and I was the guitarist till '81 and we took a break. Bosco (bass after Pat) died. We keep in touch. If you want I'll arrange a call. Let me know.

  • I'd really like to get back in touch with her-- should I get my phone number, address to you or could I get hers or how could this happen? I'd just started painting in '93 and now I'm considered one of Nevada's best representational/photo realist painters. I'd like to show her my work and say hello.

  • @liamNYC , last time I saw Bosco was about a year or 2 after he split LA after his short stint in the Darby Crash band. I saw him on A and 7th and we hung out for a while. That was probably 82?? So he died? When did that happen and what from? Not drugs I hope. He never seemed like much of a dope fiend back then but 28 yrs a lot can happen.

  • It's obvious "cherrybomb" has issues re. De De Since you implied that you know her why not follow your own advice and talk to her in person? If you do know her, you also know your allegations are absurd and NOT true and what you've done is a crime - on many levels. Wouldn't making slanderous accusations in a public forum be abuse? (reply to tedoli3)

  • cotton ponies still around?

  • check out dee dee from UXA introducing geza x and the mommymen on the 'practicing mice' video....

  • I knew DeeDe from LA in 1979. She should be glad for the exposure. They are a forgotten band, although they made some of the best punk in LA at the time. If there are more videos out there...post them!

  • Nobody has the right to post this video as it's against De De's wishes and she is constantly being abused by those who use this video to further their careers without paying her royalties or getting her permission. It's that kind of un-authorized usage that has abused so many S.F. Punk Bands over the years.

  • Besides the video rights owner, there are 3 entities that can give permission for this video to be on youtube, De De's is but one. The other is the Kowalsky estate and there has been a sighting of Michael's younger brother on the boards. The other is Billy Piscioneri (fate unknown).

De De no longer wants the song "Death From Above" to see the light of day, as a video or audio track.

  • Posh Boy has finally re-issued the IOG album but under a different title and with different artwork to allow De De "distance".

Just search amazon or iTunes under U.X.A. and you'll find it and enjoy the 90 seconds free audio samples.

  • U.X.A. must be in the running for the group with the greatest number of musicians meeting a premature end (other than 'plane or car crash). There's Kowalsky, Linwood Land and Bosco. Who else is not with us any longer? I always liked Billy Southard and glad to see him, here. I heard from Richie the drummer when became sober 20 years ago, nothing from O'Sullivan.

  • @RecordMogul saw your comment & figured i'd let you know that patrick o'sullivan is still alive and has also been sober for some time... he happens to be my dad

  • UXA was a great early band that seems mostly forgotten. Too bad--I'd love to see more of their stuff.

  • Linwwod is Dead. U.X.A. at last report was signing with Mabuhay Records.

  • Do you have any video from the band after Kowalski died? I'd like to see the 79 Mab show

  • do you know what happened to linwood land from this band i knew him years ago in S.F. thanks

  • yea, elwood (linwood) was my friend too and i sure miss being able to know that he is still around

  • I agree with you, don't get me wrong. I liked UXA and DeDe then. All I was doing is giving UXA some love because they were are great band back then. We all got issues don't we? We all got some crap in the closet. Some just worse than others. I can't stand hatefull neo con bible thumper is a coke dealers. They are just horrible!

  • UXA was great! Who cares what you think about her now and what she's into. So she changed, it's her life in Los Felis or where she is now. UXA, they were class of "77" and that's all that matters. They were a great band of that time. Los Angeles class of 77 rules

  • wow I rember when I thought De De Troit was Hot, maybe was the beer,

  • This is fukin bad ass and to think ....These people (the ones that are still alive) now get to watch "Good Charlotte" and "Rancid"

    "play" punk music?

  • WOW!!! I have to say that UXA was one of the best underground punk bands I ever saw in Los Angeles!!!

  • I didn't expect to see UXA on the internet. Is there a way to put INNOCENT BYSTANDER on here? Got any TREE PUNX? Got anything with Dede on Guitar? Thanks for posting this.

  • completely underestimated

  • Illusions of Gradeur - underground, Underated punk classic album - De De kills!!!

  • I never realized there were any offspring from the affair between Mark E. Smith and Sandra Bernhart.

  • Miss UXA. What ever happened to De De Troit?
