To make a long story short...

Main character Lane Meyer can't get over the fact that his gf dumped him for some jock guy who's good at skiing. Lane has an awkward family, is often disturbed by the paper boy and is very suicidal for a long time until French foreign exchange student Monique comes into his life and teaches him how to ski well enough to ultimately beat the jock guy. They fall in love and kiss at the end and his old gf is jealous.
