@maleficentdiva thanks! i get it done at the salon every few months, but if i'm doing it myself, i go for something with "copper" in the name. sometimes "auburn"s can be too brown. i just used a loreal feria copper and liked it a lot.
Brilliant to see the results of following the original tutorial, and also the day after look! Very entertaining too! You looked absolutely authentic in your costume! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
thanks! i detailed how i did it in other comments below; this is really just a video response to an actual tutorial. but i started by putting it in a ponytail, and that is key. otherwise it's just to saggy to pin each curl.
@SillaBoyos my video camera died, so I'm unable to make a tutorial at the moment, but I used a tutorial from ilovegerardo. the link is in the info box.
Thank you for posting it! I have a 20's/30's new year eve party and I was thinking of doing this. And now I know how it look on red hair with additional curls on the forehead!
Have you tought about doing fingerwaves on the forehead? I still can't decide between straight, curls and waves...
i actually tried the finger curls first, and much to my surprise, it didn't work.
since this isn't a tutorial, but a video response, i'll tell you what i did. ps...my hair is naturally curly, and i got the feather in my hair for $3 bucks at Michael's (a craft store).
4. i took small strands of the pony tail, twisted them first, and wrapped them around my fingers, then pinned it in place. i had no mirror for the back, so i was crossing my fingers. it actually feels like a tight nest of bobby pins!
5. make pin curls with the front that is left. some over-lapping around the ear, and a few for the bangs. (you can kind of see the pins in the bangs, but no one noticed until i mentioned it...because they're looking at the rest of it.)
Guys innthe 30s the movies didn't have audio. They help up speech card every few scenes.

@JustGlamorouslyAlive
Actually by the 30's movies had synchronized sound. Everything pre 1928 was silent.

What gives? There's no audio! Video would be greatly enhanced with the use of period music. Thanks.

1. sticky gel (Garnier makes a great one) all throughout while it's wet.
2. comb hair forward from ear to ear so that the back is in a tight pony tail while the front/sides hang down.
3. i had to blow dry the back part (not the ponytail) so that it would be straight since my hair is naturally curly.
