  • Damn 89 octaine? My 385 is 10.5:1 and it wants premo gas big time. My timing sweet spot is around 36/37 and it spark knocks without good gas. I'd run 100 octaine if they still had it at the pump. What's your secret? Or do you think i'm runnin to much timing. I worry about detonation.

  • @hpjunky70

10.5:1 is your problem, we never never go over 10:1 with steel heads unless you want to run 100 octane all the time. Timing 36 Degrees max and set your advance curve. Running the higher compression and having to take timing away from the engine will cause hotter EGT's and will loose more power than if you just lowered the compression on the lower octane gas and ran normal timing.

  • what is the intake runner cc ?

  • WTF are "Steel" heads? And screw "202" heads - they are a marketting scam. The size of the intake valve means next to nothing next to chamber size, port volume, and port shape, and port flow.

  • That's a pretty good motor. Nice RPM range for the street with plenty of top end power.

  • I have a 72 camaro and the 350 just isnt doing it for me, would this be a better alternative?

  • @ItsTricksta

Yes, this would most definitely wake that 72 Camaro

  • @ItsTricksta put a set of 202 aluminum heads and it will do enough

  • will it fit in an 82 RX 7??

  • @MINI14ification

Yes, i have seen them installed in the RX7

  • god bless you>>> you have nice store in abay

  • Can a 383 fit inside a 1987 Buick Grand National

  • @TheBlackZorro56

Yes, it will fit in your 1987 Buick

  • @cncmotorsports will it fit in my 84 Cadillac El Dorado? because the stock engine just isn't doing it for me lol

  • @IIIRAIDERIII

It will require a lot of modifications to make it fit.

  • @2009ZR1NiceGuy

We show the horsepower and torque curve at the end of the video

  • why dont perple like to go hight then 6000 i would like to know why. or is it just becuz of the distribitor

  • "A pretty impressive street engine." is the biggest understatement possible. I'd love to have this engine in my baby, I'd be tearing up the streets all day.

  • Would this fit in a 7th gen chevy impala? 2001 ls.

  • what cam is in it?

  • @dave22107

    Our custom grind

  • I bought my eagle big block chevy crank from you guys.. priced right!! Thanx again for the deal

  • what is base timing on this and total timing please let me know thanks

  • @1967nova1

about 15 degrees of base and 36 total

  • could a 383 stroker fit in a 64 chevy impala with hydralics

  • hey im putting a 383 in my 86 camaro what is the build cost for one.

  • @86camaroboy

This crate engine starts at $6099.95, it is a hell of a ride.

  • i think i ordered a bunch of parts from you guys on ebay .......if so ya`ll have the best customer service............ the BEST!!!!!!

  • @jmecrg could a 383 stroker motor fit in a 64 impala with hydralics

  • @MrandMrsOlden

Yes, this will fit right in there.

  • my freind has this in a 73 camaro.....a couple days for it to be ready to go...and then its cruisin time!!

  • You guys built one of these crate engines for me. Mine made 490hp and it makes an awsome street machine. Your name is the first thing people see when I open the hood at shows. Keep up the great work....It puts a smile on my face everytime the pedal hits the carpet. LOVE IT! :)

  • @jimbo5943

We appreciate the feedback and business.

    Thank you

  • @cncmotorsports what stall would you use on this set up?

  • man you guys do good work.

I want your cam specs, passwords, secret handshakes. LOL

just kidding, admire your workmanship and best of luck

  • @aknowneemus

    LOL, we appreciate the compliments.

    Thank you

  • Sorry, This is our crate engine package, we don't share cam specs.

  • what were the specs on the roller cam used in this build ?

  • Im gunna ask a stupid qustion to anyone that can answer me. But can i stroke my 350 to a 378?? Or is that even possible? I mean a 6.2 liter is 378ci. So why couldnt i do that to my motor?

  • @dime6664ever You can get a 4340 crank from GM and make a 383 with out boring the block. part number 12489436 steel 4340.

  • With today's cylinder head an camshaft technology, 450-500 HP on a 383 with pump gas is pretty easy.

  • 486HP at only 5,800 (therefore only needing a 650 cfm carb) and with only 10:1 compression......That's an efficient engine!!! Good job! It seems like most peoples (who are honest) 383 strokers only make around 400.

  • Nice engine! Got a 383 myself! Not a roller cam, but still a pump gas street engine! Gotta love em!

  • engine sounds great guys. i bought my crank and rods off you guys a few years ago. got a great deal. thanks.

  • Thank you...

  • im debating between a 383 and a 434 stroker.. im lookin for about 650 to 700 hp on pump gas.. which is better?

  • You need to go with a 434, unless you plan on using a power adder, 650 HP on pump gas is not very easy.

  • what size of heads ? I have a set up very close to yours , just waiting until spring to go 4 a rip, i have aluminium 2.02 s with 1.60 , 10 to 1 compression, 750 holly ,mild cam ,hydraulic set up and an air gap intake ,if you were to guess, how much power would that make ? ,,,..with the hydraulic setup what is a safe rpm to rev to without runing into floating valves? i believe the air gap makes power up to 6500 , im not sure if i should take it quite that high though.

  • 200 runner, what aluminum heads do you have ?

Hydraulic roller cam stay under 6500 RPM

  • edelbrock e-tec 200, they are 6 or 7 years old

  • In all honesty, I am not very familiar with the edelbrock e-tec head. Most any 200 runner head and a good hydraulic roller will make 450+

  • thanx alot , good vid

  • with a holley 650 carb that thing must have a good launch to it pending gears of course and im sure it doesn't skip a beat. Friend of mine just swapped his holly 750 dp for a 650 and ya lose few horses but its so much tighter and responsive with the 650

  • did you say 89 octane hmmmm on 10.1 with steel heads I do not doubt the motor doesnt make power but 89 octane

  • Check out our new Small block 427 video with the New AFR 235 Heads, 759 Horsepower.

  • your slogon is the shit. check out my ride. we might drop a 350 in my little car.

  • Yah, a 350 in your car would be a nice upgrade...

  • what kind of car is it?

  • fiero gt fastback

  • DDAAAMMMMMM put a 350 in that and you will have the ultimate sleeper!!!!!!!!

  • hell yeah. thats the plan. it should be an 11 second car

  • i said it once and i'll say it again DDAAAMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its got 486 hp to the flywheel(?) but how would that translate out to the wheels? (on maybe like an f-body or like my x-body)

  • Drive train loss is very hard to predict, I would say 20% loss maybe ?

  • when you wanna find out whats at the wheels i just take off 20-30 hp if it rear wheel drive, 10hp if its front wheel, its a real ghetto way of finding out

  • hey im building a 383 with 200cc runner heads , air gap manifold , .510 lift cam solid hydralic cam with roller rockers but the guy said i would only be bout 440 hp how do i get up around 480 mark ?

  • depends on the heads and cam. cam sounds a bit small on the lift. get the duration at .050 specs. and what heads? what do they flow at .500 - .550 lift? what compression ratio? lots of questions to be answered.

  • I have an 1973 Monza with a 383 in it what tranny and rearend should I put in it for the strip and street?

  • depends on how much HP your making and torque. but a T400 or even a turbo350 will do. rearend, run a 12 bolt or ford 9. Im running a 408 windsor backed up with a built C4 and ford 9 inch. hasnt broke yet and running in the 10.80 @126 and with a 150 shot ran a best of a 9.97 at 134. and thats on drag radials

  • 6 speed is best for performance

  • Monzas were made from 1975-80. There's no such thing as a 73 monza.

  • i have a 383 i built last summer has mild cam due to an auto tranny 9.3:1 compression with 882 ported heads makeing around 350hp i was wondering if you had any tips on a cheap way to get up to or above 400hp

  • a set of vortec heads would put you there. or a better set then the 882's. arent they 72cc? or 76

  • vortec heads are junk dude. edlebrock performer, or performer rpm's are more bang for ur buck

  • The Edelbrock heads are modeled after the vortecs. I wouldn't call vortecs junk.

  • i'd call them more outdated

  • Did you have any problems with it leaning out up top with the 650?

  • Fuel curve was perfect. If you over carb an engine you can run into lean top end issues.

  • I like my fords but damn the sound of this thing is awesome.

  • i got a question im buildin a 355 wit a eagle forged competition kit and going wit 327 camel hump heads do u think i can make 550hp and 480torque

  • Camel back heads are not a good head, buy a set of Aftermarket Dart or RHS 200cc heads, 13.0:1 and a roller cam will easily make 550 hp.

  • The larger stall will help the 60 foot time as long as the chassis can handle the extra launch speed.

  • i was looking at your bighog torque converter the 3800-4200. i am trying to get off the line harder. i think the converter i have now is a 3500 stall but i don t think so because it will go to 2200 and the car starts to move. i think if i get off the line harder it will in prove my 60 ft time a lot best is 1.60 on mickey thompson et street radials.

  • i have a 750 holley hp series on my motor and that is racing at the track but i drive it to the track and back.i think it is loseing at high rpm. and i have a manual fuel pump edelbrock performer rpm street fuel pump

  • With out putting it on the dyno it's hard to tell what top end you will be loosing.

  • thank you do you think the 750 hp is to small maybe more jetting or bigger carburetor

  • Depends on the brand of the carb.

For all our racing a little small, for street pry just fine.

  • Impressive numbers in this pull. And just a 650 carb. Have you compared this same combo with a 750? I was wondering if that carb is much of a restriction at the top end, but probably not much, parts are well matched. Have you tested the vacuum @WOT under the base of the carb?

  • 750 will make 10 more horsepower threw the entire band, we decided on the 650 for better throttle response for street driving. Vacuum was tested as well.

This specific engine was going in a 49 Chevy Street rod with a 700R4 trans, we felt 650 would be way better for our customer in low RPM driving.

  • i have 388 with 11.3 compression with roller cam 630,630 lift and 256in 264ex both at.050heads dart pro1 flow to 266intake 177exhaust and victor j.r intake 750 holley hp how hp you think the combo makes and do you think i need a bigger carburetor i think it makes around 550 hp or more

  • I would guess in the 530-545 range.

Depends, low compression engines with big cams are hard to guess.
