"...if we ever get into real, heavy combat, I'll be right behind you guys...every step of the way." - Then no nods of approval or anything like that from the other soldiers - just stares. heeheeheehee
"I've always been kind of a pacifist. When I was a kid, my father told me... Never hit anyone in anger unless you're absolutely sure you can get away with it."
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I feel that Harold Ramis steals the spotlight from Bill Murray a few times in this movie, he's really a funny actor.
This entire movie was filmed at Fort Knox...in the reception area where new troops come in and stay for a week before being assigned to a company. I was there...My DI, SSGT Stodgil was the guy who helped train Warren Oats for this role while on base. If you look at the scenes where they are supposed to be in Eastern Europe, you can see the water tower in the back ground with the armor insignia on it.
@SonnyChiba57 It seems like blurfist knows exactly what you are talking about. I think you are the one missing the point. This is not a US Army training film, this is not a documentary, this is a comedy. It's supposed to be funny. You need to forget about reality and just kick back and appreciate it for what it is. In otherwords; "Lighten up, Francis"
A CLASSIC, DRILL SARGENT HULKA REPRESNTS THE REAL SIDE OF THE ARMY. TOUGH,SHARP, NO NONSENSE, SERIOUS, AND PROFESSIONAL. THE ARMY AND THIS COUNTRY NEEDS MORE LEADERS LIKE THAT.
(1:18) any of u homos touch touch touch me and i kill u. he sounds like ochmed the dead terrorest from Jeff Dunham. also its funny cuz Harold Ramis (2:57) is in this and u most know him as dr. Egon Spengler in the comedy classic Ghostbusters so u wouldnt expect him 2 b a soulder.
Didnt that Francis dude play the pimp on Days of Our Lives?
Great role
Funny ass movie, I wish I could find the scene where the Captain was watching the obstacle course and how retarded his guys were and that black dude ran on that log and slipped right onto h is balls and just tipped over
Would you have the scenes when Winger starts complaining to Sgt. Hulka about the platoon not getting enough rest and Hulka tells Winger that they're gonna run 10 miles instead of 5 miles or the scene where Stillman freaks out at the platoon for getting caught by the MP's?
I wanna know how many times Oates had to do his response to Murray at the end. you KNOW he's forcing back more laughs there, as he stifles the one that lets loose, while coming to his feet.
right up there with the dart scene in Will Ferrell's movie (can't remember the name right now)
The scene's a bit of a drag. With the exception of Psycho, none of the men in the room can steal a scene from Warren Oates. Why, may I ask, does the world love Bill Murray? The guy is tedious.
Jeez! Don't end your sentences with violence, dude. Go Conrad as Francis "Psycho" Soyer. LOL at Sergeant Hulka played by Warren Mercer Oates saying "Lighten up, Francis". Then again maybe 1 of us won't.
