I was totally into metal in the early 80s, but now I realize that bands I used to dislike (Alabama, Air Supply, America just to name a few) were actually very talented musicians.
Saw them several times at the Indiana State Fair back in the 80's. While everyone else in school was listening to heavy metal, my memories are spending weekends at Woodland Lake in Brown County, IN listening to Alabama.
@Tazz007416.....What the hell are you even talking about?? ...Did I read?,,,,Did YOU even read what I wrote. You are quite funny in your so called 'tolerant society' that you claim to be a part of. You just basically impugned an intire region of the USA, consisting of well north of 50 million people. It is always funny to listen to you guys that admitedly have never been to the south talk about that which you have NO idea. Again I say stop listening to your rediculous media.
Alabama is probably the best band ever! Love when they all three sing those three lines in the middle. Couldn't have put a better verse in Brad Paisley's new song!
Drove 2.5 hrs after work to watch them in Meadville Pa about 10 yrs agothen drove 2.5 hrs back and straight to work didn't even go home. Wasn't gonna miss the chance to see them for anything. BEST Concert I have every been to. God broke the mold because no one can ever compare to them. Three generations of fans in my family .
when I was a kid, my grandfather and I would sit and listen to this song over and over again. One of my best memories of him. RIP Grandpa, I know you got this song playing for the angels.
I like this singing better than the new stuff. Multiple guys actually sang together back then and could harmonize instead of voice-over and duplication done by computers nowadays.
@springfairy556 Well, I'm only a couple years behind you and receive similar remarks....but i grew up on country music in the 90s so i prefer it over most everything else
This is WAAAAY back in the day....when they still liked one another. Age is not what broke them up. Teddy and Jeff couldn't get along with Randy and his wife. And Mark made the best decision and distanced himself from all of it.
I am Canadian but of South American descent. To clarify, I am non-white in complexion. I love Alabama music, however I and many others world-wide have heard of horror storiesof bigotory and outright "Hitlerisc" type behaviour of many southern USA inhabitants. This has prevented myself and numerous others from visting the southern USA, and truly appreciating the southern lifestyle along with the music. I would reccomend a change in attitudes towards non-white individuals of the population.
@Tazz007416 maybe 50 or 60 years ago...the south is not even like that anymore..in matter of fact I am from Louisiana and some of my best friends are asians and blacks
@PuRpLeSmUrF05 There are still some folks like that down yonder but very few, so yeah alot has changed since back then....i'm from good ol' Louisiana as well btw :D
@Tazz007416 Man around here we dont give a damn about non a that bull crap we are good christian people we welcome anyone into our communities with open arms and Southern Hospitality it was bad in alot of places along time ago but just like the rest of the country we have evolved into better people I know my neighbors and many of the members of my community black, white green whatever we go to church together we speak to people when we see them and we wave at people we dont even know around here
@Tazz007416 That is why sooooo many people need to stop listening to todays media. All of them are 60's throw backs that are just chomping at the bits for another civil rights movement. They distort every thing. Ignorance, I have found is an equal opportunity disease! Everyone seems to look for ways to be victims lately.
@fortheluva1 Seriously did you read before you wrote? Your comments are beyond ignorant. Do you worship unlovingst which is a product of the devil...if so enough said !!!
@fortheluva1 seriously did you read anything before posting? Civil rights are rights belonging to all people and not just certain races. alabama is not new country. they dont play that on todays country channels with new music. they play taylor swift and rascal flatts and shit. they play this on country legends channel were im from. at least 3 times a day. i actually dissagree with the channel for having stuff like this on there.. they should have more hank williams sr or eddy arnold.
thats because this is what country is. taylor swift and rascall flatta are country flavored pop, which sucks. alabama is what counrty music should be. yea, hank, george jones, they are REAL country artists
This is my favorite country group and I don't really follow country music much. I'm into pop and r&b and those old school country crossover groups such as The Everly Brothers, all of Crystal Gayle, Shania Twain, Anne Murray, Dolly Parton and so forth. I know this song was a # one hit on the country charts. It should have made the hot 100 top forty charts.I see they have over 31 # one hits and over 15 top five hits, they're an awesome group. Do they lead the pack of all the country artists!!
