If someone comes at you with a knife, control the arm. The hand follows the arm so if you lock the elbow, the arm straightens out and you can break the attacker's arm easily. As depicted in the video.
@WeaponXAnimosity most people who pull out a knife dont know how to play for blood, let alone pull out a large knife making it easy totake away because 7 out of 10 would leave the knifed hand out for you to grab the other tuck it in and wait to grab you
iKostis: if some one throws the knife you got 3 options
1 = run
2 = call your mom
3 = kick the knife out the air with a taekwando kick that reaches 50 mph so it bounce right in his face performed correctly it probably can cause servere bleeding or even death
i have a friend who practices aikido,and he told us that if someone comes at him with a knife he would`nt use his aikido,he said he would run cause thats the easy way,and 2-3 mths later he got in trouble with a guy with a knife,funny thing is,he catches the hand and broke the guys shoulder (i thinks somewhere in his shoulder)
@trafficlightgl Haha, I had the same thing. I practice jujutsu and i always say i'd rather run. But i got attacked and i broke his arm. Thing is, you're working on reflexes things just happen too fast for you to think^^
This is the difference between a good block vs merely trying to wack around. A good block really doesn't 'block' at all, its merely redirects the energy such that the attack SLIDES away from me. AND, as it slides, u lose ur foundation while i gain the position- that is a good block. And the speed of a good block comes from being able to do all this with minimal movement & in an instant. u may have to move several feet to attack, but i only need to move a couple inches here & there to deflect &
heeehee so hav u never ever played catch before? What is the difference between a catch & a grab? Why is it that baseball players can almost easily catch a 98mph ball but its near impossible to 'grab' it? lol Very very very simple- not necessarily easy- but very simple. Its all about foundation & how u redirect the energy of the ball/object
I like swinging things, I have good aim, come at me with a knife and you're going to get a shillelagh hit to your head then you can meet my mobile knife collection. :)
It's so typical to say: If someone comes with a knife i'm running! well what if you're Cornered? Run past him? i don't think so, These people end up in the hospital with as background story " they/he caught me with suprise! " guess what it's always that way cuz if you know a fight is comming you'll avoid/evade at all cost. Don't go out with pointless words, go out prepared knowing what to do when a worst case scenario occurs, then atleast you'll have a fighting chance.
@Bonertronica lol. ujelly. That's cute. Wake me up when you can close the distance on someone who is throwing poisoned shurikens and tell me how ineffective ninjitsu it is. Besides, modern ninjitsu is probably just sneak up on your opponent and shoot them. Martial arts are a thing of the past.
@DruoxTheShredder Daily self defence situation: Throw a shuriken, cause mild pain, and several years of jailtime for yourself for agrevated assault and illegal weapons possession.
Ancient warfare situation: The other guy laughs at you while the shurikens bounce off his armour, and stabs you to death.
Even most ninjitsu teachers will agree shurikens aren't real weapons. The blades are too small to do serious damage. They're for causing momentary confusion and fear so you can escape.
Yeah this is impractical as fuck. Nobody ever trying to kill you with a knife is gonna just lunge straight at you. They obviously swing the knife around like a wild animal and your chances of grabbing his hand without getting cut are slim. Just run.
Or.. More effectively, after your out the way and have blocked the wrist, hook your other arm over the crease of the elbow, then simply push the arm (so it bends how it naturally would) in and across the body. They'll end up stabbing themselves, and you can claim it happend in the struggle. (and if you want a little finesse about it, after folding the arm in and impaling them, jump back while keeping hold of arm, you'll fillet them like a fish). That's what a weapon using coward deserves (:
These techniques work when your oponent is strong like a kid... but god, if someone tries to stab me with a knife he'll most likely not be a kid. And he might just be able to force too huh? Looking a these clips looks easy... when the other dude does nothing else than putting himself in the good position.
on 4-6 see how he moves his hands like that while the attacker's arm stays perfectly still? as a wrestler iv got to say in my honest opinion that this would not work on anybody who isn't an idiot
His attacker isn't standing perfectly still. When you parry (not catch) the knife hand, you grab it AND PULL and as the opponent goes forward, (and he will, stab gives forward momentum) you grab his arm with the other hand and execute the move.
@mexikanpenguin this move is very similar to a wrestling move. the only problem is that if he's not some bum and knows whats going on, there's easy ways to get out of this. And when u stab someone u do it as fast as u can, not barely lunge forward like this tard. to grab his wrist in mid air ud have to have much faster reflexes than he has, and u have to be fully aware of the attack coming b4 it ever happens. best defense is definitely still just to run
This works whether it's a forward thrust (which, contrary to popular belief, MANY knife users do) or a downward stab with the reversed grip. The only trick is to grab that wrist. If it's a downward stab, just pull the arm in a twisting motion to extend it into the move shown.
most knife users don' thrust forward with the knife as shown in every martial arts demo since the beginning of time, however a fine technique in general
