  • saw Geordie play for the 1st time August 1981 - Police Picnic, Oakville ON - My life has never been the same ....

  • This is a true musician...! Killing Joke FTW

    Cheers from Brazil

  • I can't stop listening to that track. Geordie is GOD of guitar sound!

  • @TheYenpox i have to listen to it everyday

    it's a must

  • Thank the universe for Geordie walker!!!

  • One of Englands finest.

  • F!@#$%g. Maginifico.

  • Beautiful. I could listen to this all day.

  • Geordie needs to be "Knighted" yesterday. Ben Kinsley and Ant Hopkins can't make this kinda beauty enter your ears and soul! This song is a cover of "The Lakes of Canada" by Innocence Mission. Ok...maybe not but chord progression is similar and

Its simple and sad and well anyway, "I dub thee Sir Geordie Walker!"

  • He is so subtle with his movement this video almost looks like a still photo. Anybody that has seen him play live knows what I mean.

  • i ve been listening good music since 1982 (i was 10 yrs old) and i remember when i bought "brighter.." in a shop in Rome in the end of '80..by then i've listened thousands of groups but anyone (ANYONE) is like killing joke ...music started and stopped here.

  • My favorite guitarist of all time. Killing Joke has been on of my favorite bands since the first album. Geordie plays with an zen like ice cool that is hard to describe. You have to wonder how is he getting all that sound out of that guitar. I've seen Killing Joke on every tour since '89 (Extremities tour). I agree with Kieran not everyone can get Killing Joke. You have to be a thinker and most music fans are sheep following the rocknroll herd.

  • Geordie has definately been a Serious Influence on me..since I was a Teenager growing up in Chas.WV in the "Punk Scene" we had going....there were only a select few who realized the relavence of Killing Joke and we were a few outside the rest..not to be egotistical..but it takes a large Mind to be able to comprehende Killing Joke...their meaning..their sound..what they mean and the spiritual Movement behund them. This is greatly due to the Skill of Geordie Walker.

  • What's this song?

  • nobody does it better!

  • God-like genius

  • You wanna hear a REAL GUITAR GENUS??

    CHECK OUT YURI NAUMOV!

  • Sounds like a "The Crow" soundtrack ripoff...

  • This is just repetitive noise! It doesn't take a genius to play this! I can name probably a dozen or more guitarists who can play better than this - and they're all better known than GW - I wonder why!!!???

  • @ScrumptiousStrat it's probably because sometimes simple creativity is far more superior than complex technique

  • @foxtweeg. Whatever - call it what you like, it's still noisy crap!!!

  • @ScrumptiousStrat yeah sure, your opinion = your right. ain't gonna argue with you on that.

however, it would be interesting though if you could upload some videos where we can get to hear you play something, since your name implies you play the guitar as well....

  • @foxtweeg. I don't play the guitar - for years I was a music critic. And before you start on the tack that because I don't play, how can I comment on it I would point out that Leo Fender never played the guitar in his life but that didn't stop him designing one of the best! Most food critics can't cook the way major chefs do but they have well developed tasts buds that tell them when something is good or rubbish!!! It's exactly the same with music; I assume you're old enough to understand that?

  • @ScrumptiousStrat i'm not really into fenders so i wouldn't know about that. so you're a music critic you say - as in you write for a newspaper and do it for a living or you just delude yourself and call yourself that?

  • @foxtweeg. I'm not "deluded" as you so ineloquently put it but I'll answer your question, if only as a matter of courtesy. I took early retirement several years ago but in one of my previous incarnations I wrote for several papers and magazines in various areas in which I lived. I mainly dealt with local, rather than national, publications as my articles were much more relevant to that locality and to the people I knew there. I just noodle on the guitar now for relaxation, nothing more!! OK?

  • @ScrumptiousStrat dude ur fucking full of shit u diss geordie but u cant play guitar.u nuthin but a fucking poser.learn to play before u diss a legend & go fuck urself in ur fist in ur ass.full of shit mutherfucker! fuck you!

  • @MrKingdaddydick. I see your eloquent command of the English language is only outshone by your unpleasant personality!! At least part of your screen name is appropriate - "dick"!!

  • @ScrumptiousStrat atleast i m not a shitfull poser like u.POSER!

  • @MrKingdaddydick. Whatever are you banging on about now, you nasty little individual??

  • @MrKingdaddydick. Having looked at you profile it is perfectly obvious to me that you have absolutely no understanding of the English language and it is no surprise that every other word out of your mouth begins with F, C or S!! Once you get past puberty - if you ever actually get past that state - then maybe you might be able to string two sentences together that actually mean something!!

  • @foxtweeg Close to being spot on, mr Strat. Wouldn't use the word 'simple' though. Some of the 'Oh'so-high-profile-complex-guitar-players' have tried to copy Geordie but have had problems doing so. Don't underestimate the complexity of Geordies style of playing. Some thinks it sounds easy - well, let them try it themselves...

  • @GunslingerSCFC i think you misread me, i don't understimate geordie's style, in fact he's a major influence on my guitar playing and i've used similar effects he has. hell, Killing Joke and Ministry are the reasons why i chose music as a career! what i meant was that you don't need to be so super-extravagant with your riffs and solos when sometimes doing the easy and "simple" things can sound so much.

  • @foxtweeg Sorry, foxtweeg. It was not my intention to diss you. I was only trying to point out that Geordie's style of playing might sound simple/easy to Mr Ordinary Person while it's actually d@mn difficult to copy. I totally agree with your comment - keep on playing! Regards 'slinger

  • @GunslingerSCFC it's okay, no harm done! keep on rockin'! :)

  • zgadzam się....to wyprzedza....zresztą Killing Joke też ....

  • Thanks for posting this.

    Again...and again.

  • Geordie's guitar is an orchestra all by itself...

  • geordie genius

  • The best ever, a genius, an inspiration, a magician of sounds, .....

  • Geordie is the best! ... I can't get enough!

  • Geordie is an underrated guitarist

  • @dentoxic i agree with you, be a great guitarist doesnt meant playing 100 notes / second.

he played so strange riffs, so powerfull: distorder, but strong melodies as well:

  • TrulyAmazing!

  • po prostu trans, mantra... to się nazywa wyprzedzić epokę!

  • thing with Killing Joke stuff is as a guitarist you'll get a quarter way thru and go 'how the fucks he playing that', yep tried detuning and i know a few other tricks but this mans leaps ahead

  • My favorite guitarist! Nobody else handles dirty noise like Geordie Walker - undoubtedly influential!

  • Oh god yes! Fenders can fuck right off. Puffs guitars.

  • Geordie is completely unfuckwittable.

  • Brilliant,Geordie is the master!

  • He uses an odd setup. The only interview I've come across was in an old copy of Guitarist magazine. He uses this Gibson ES295 which has single coil P90 pickups on it. He says he has a contact mike built into it which I assume is a piezo pickup which he uses for clarity when he needs it. The P90s go through a Marshall. How he stops it feeding back like a bastard I have no idea. In the studio he uses a Les Paul as well. A true innovator, in my opinion, a genius and maverick.

  • i know it's irrelevant but to my knowledge Geordie has always played the same guitar. Gibson ES 295. The same guitar Scotty Moore played on the early Elvis tracks. I think it's the best looking guitar ever made.

  • Geordie started in 1979 mainly with a Gibson SG. He already had an awesome sound back then as you can hear on the first album with Requiem and Wardance and also on Revelations with the most impressive intro ever on "The Hum"!! He has ES295's since 1983.

  • Yeah... its really a beauty. I wish i wish i had one. I have a gibson sg new model (2007), Its a beauty that too, i do have to admit id rather have a half accustic gibson, or epiphone even. Or, put up more green and get a Les Paul. (i havent got a proper amp yet its a VOX 40W. Of the new series.) If i wish enough, its gonna come.

    CIAO....

  • This is my air

  • Is this a demo for a new killing joke song? :O

  • This man is a pioneer of the noisy orchestral guitar, the man's a genius.

I hope he gets this out soon as a solo work.

  • not just that but post punk. dick dale also paved the way.

  • You know, I can't stress enough how much this guy is an inspiration to me as a guitarist. I saw him with Killing Joke last year, and how he makes what he plays look so effortless really left an imprint on me. This demo is hypnotic to me. I don't really know how to describe it. I listen to this and everything I stress over just goes away and I feel like I'm floating. More so with my eyes closed. Hopefully I can inspire people like this guy. I'm just grateful he's around.

  • I totally agree. Been into Killing Joke since the 80s and Geordie is one of the hardest guitarists to emulate, yet he makes everything so effortless and natural.

A funny thing happened when i saw them like on the Pandemonium tour, Geordie lit a cigarette onstage and i swear everyone in the crowd did the same. He is a legend.

  • Me too, I wouldn't wanna miss him for the world. Imagine we would have to do it with U2 and the other crappy bands. Other guitarist could not come up with stuff like this even if they had to save their lives with it. The other tracks of these feb.07 demo's are equally awesome by the way. Thanks Geordie, hope to meet you again soon!!

  • @momomimimomo - yup

  • like this one alot better than the new version! wish he would have kept it this way! would love to hear 9 and 11 again the way they were! this man is truly brilliant! his sound is unmatched by anyone! cheers!

  • Where did you hear the new versions? I love the original demo's and am glad that I got them on a CD before the green player was removed. After hearing them and then not being able to play them again would seriously affect my life in a bad way!

  • hes got the new ones up on his myspace page. have a good one! cheers!

  • On the myspace website are only the new demo's,these have nothing to do with the previous ones. The difference is that the new ones consist of single guitar parts without presence or reverb. The feb.07 demo's like this one are with at least 3 guitar parts with lots of effects, the new ones sound more plain but i like them too!How he could manage to mix 3 or 4 guitar parts in this harmonic and awesome sounding piece i will never know, but that's why he is the greatest guitar player in the world!!

  • My life is in a bad way... I didn't get the green player demos down before he took it off. There was one song I can hear in my head which I am convinced is the best guitar ever and I am so frustrated I can't hear it anymore. It was like flying over big cold beautiful landscapes. Please help if you can!

  • Hi Chrissend me your mail if you want the entire album

    Take care ) : -

    wish you all the best

  • Best guitarist ever.

  • Agreed - quite staggeringly brilliant . . respect

  • Geordie is the only guitarist I am not afraid of to call him an idol...

erm..dunno if that was right...sometimes I am thinking too much about grammar while writing in English..my brain is too active..

  • thanks for posting this.

    i like this a lot.

this demo has been taken off his myspace page, and i was missing it.

  • I was just at the myspace page also and it is missing.....thought i was going crazy.

This is my favorite also...listen to it everyday !!

    : )

  • what's THIS for ...! Awesome.

  • This is so brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Hope it end up on the album.

  • HaHa, "big" names like the edge, Clapton, Beck , Hendrix and so on can (could) only dream of coming up with awesome stuff like this !!! Go Geordie !

  • this really is mindbending, original and creative stuff. imo i think geordie's style was more in tune with the surf music styles of dick dale, duane eddy, etc in a crazy cyborg futuristic style on the reverbs, and i truly think that is what he was going for. something not done before. he succeeded and still does.

  • AMAZING !!!!

    Thanks for this

  • thanks for the upload. is this supposed to be from his solo album?
