he was hitting like 50 homers a year in japan...he can hit it out no problem. the difference is that he has adjusted to american pitching so well and has become so complete an offense player that he uses all of his tools, not just his power. his homers aren't cheap either; he hits the crap out of the ball.
@dinohunter17 you must be talking about hideki matsui. that guy hit 50 homer once in his career. ichiro, on the other hand, has never even hit 20 homers in japan if my memory serves right.
actually if you see ichiro in batting practice he hits the ball HARD AND FAR. I was at angel stadium to see him hit one day during BP and a lot of the baseballs were gone. he's got power. just not showing because he wants to get on base
Yeah I really think that he could too, his batting mechanics are effecient enough to do so...but home run hitters strike out a lot more, I'd rather him hit for contact then going up there hacking lol
Hey, Anybody remember when Bill Mazorouski, Pittsburgh Pirates Clobered "The Yankees in the 1960 World Series, at "Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Pa? "The Bill Mazorouski Homerun".
Yankees lost the 1960 World Series. "Holy Cow" by Phil Rizutto, and "How About that" by
Mel Allen. Now that was a Ballantine Beer Blast. Do you agree "Yankee Fans"? RETURN TO "FORBES FIELD". Yogi Berra can tell you about that World Series at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh back in 1960. Let's talk about that World Series.

MLB fan base is not growing because they are not following rule #1 in the information age by not sharing highlight clips etc. The rule of thumb is to use the internet to interest fans around the globe for free. They are stuck in the pay for view paradigm and look what is happening to fan base in boxing, baseball, football.

look at how he swings he could hit 4HRs + but he has the best average most of the time and he would rather have the average than homers

he's actually not that small. ok sure he's not a muscular american player, but he's quite tall for Japanese and even by baseball standards.

well, this is more interesting than most things ichiro does because he's usually trying to bunt, but nice job hitting a home run, too
