There is a difference between "sleeping under a bridge" and being homeless. Big difference. If he meant "homeless" why not use the well-understood term "homeless"? "Homeless" includes those in homeless shelters, but "under bridges" does not.
Try to stay on point. The specific comment was not "sleeping on the streets" which is a well-known and often-used term for homeless. It was something different. When challenged about the specificity of the "bridges" comment, Edwards stayed with it and repeated "Bridges".

My father was a Viet Nam Vet who ended up homeless because of very severe mental problems as a direct result of the war... He literally died on the streets and was buried in an unmarked grave! He tried to get help numerous times and was rejected numerous times. He couldn't even get a new pair of glasses. O'Reilly can Kiss my ass!

I remember this. This is what happens when people get taken out of context. The New York Daily News's gossip columnists Rush & Molloy (who had nothing better to do) put out a column about O'Reilly said that HE said that there were no homeless veterans. That's NOT what he said, though. Naturally, Rush & Molloy spun it to their advantage, and were called out on by the O'Reilly Factor. There is a difference between "sleeping under a bridge" and being homeless. Big difference. If he meant "homeless" why not use the well-understood term "homeless"? "Homeless" includes those in homeless shelters, but "under bridges" does not.
