@leniberman,fantastic how you put it. Mr. Bennett is one and only. If you remember what Frank Sinatra said years before he passed,he said 'Tony Bennett is the best singer I've ever heard". Need we say more.
Of course I have the CDs. On this particular song Bill Evans is just inspired. All through their performing together I just wonder how much the Tony Bennet singing inspired him? It's altogether too much!!
Just saw Tony's documentary, produced by Clint Eastwood. The music and the man literally brought tears to my eyes. Tony is the consummate musician and human being. The joy he brings to his music and performance is unparalleled. He has sets an example to the world of what a musician and a human being should be.
Before Tony Bennett was listened to by Generation X, he made these two albums with Bill Evans. He could have done nothing more in his career but rest on the laurels of these two amazing records.
colora40 Thank you ladybret giving me my music I listened 1960s.Why we never hear in radio Bennets. B ,ecstine and others from 45-60.Maybe radio gays are
dead and young ones dont know this kind of music. But allways is comming some-
one like you who remainds us from old times.Thank you.
I have always loved the incredible awesome Bill Evans...and this album is special....................................love Bill's w/o the lyrics on this tune..Who doesn't dig Bill Evans?
This is music at the level of art.A singer and a piano, that's all is needed especially when the singer is Mr. Bennett and the pianist is Mr. Evans. Magical indeed.
Tony & Bill were a legendary combination. As your astute posting notes observe- we are poorer for the fact that here were only two such albums. Thanks for the post. As Bill said: Truth & Beauty...
The two albums that Tony Bennett and Bill Evans recorded together are wonderful - Tony often mentions in interviews that the albums were the most appreciated albums of his career by critics and reviewers. Thanks for this example of the great work that Tony and Bill did together.
