The flawless technique mixed with great passion, elegance and powerful energy! Nino Ananiashvili - the Godess of ballet, one of the most exquisite prima ballerina assolutas of all times!
NINA is on my very short list of great assolutas.I saw her in NY in 86 with Bolshoi and fell in love. She moved differently than her soviet rivals. I found Bessmertnova,Semizorova, and to a lessr extent Semenyaka very mannered and rehearsed. NINA was free, every movement expressed something different. I later found out she was GEORGIAN. Great post Cathy. Thanks Dito for sending it.
@ejc480 - Her dancing is in a different, higher, dimension, she doesn't just do a pique arabesque, there is a reason behind it...I can only imagine what she could do with the Antony Tudor repertoire or the Kenneth MacMillian!!!! I'm glad you like her, I LOVE her.
@Qbendanny Yes!!! She would be amazing as Juliet and Mary Vetsera! I watcher her 2011 graduation performance in La Bayadere. Gorgeous! Her feet and legs are just beautiful and like you said she does have clear emotional purposes for each step. ALessandra Ferri will always be one of my favorites.
