Great movie. I hear a lot of Europeans who watch it who like it but just don't get the same chill Americans (especically those who know and love baseball) do. Too bad, it's about so much more than just baseball.
I would recommend everyone to visit dyersville IA and bring a bat and ball and take some swings at the field of dreams. I did and it was one of the coolest things ive done.
It is one of my lifelong dreams. I was a catcher. I haven't played since I was a kid but baseball is one of the few things I truly love and I don't need a million bucks to enjoy it, I am glad you feel the same way.
I'm split on the whole Shoeless Joe-HOF thing; I mean, there's no excuse for cheating, and he and the Eight pulled the biggest cheat of them all- throwing a WORLD SERIES.
But they did it because their owner cheated them out of money and treated them horribly, and in those days there was no free agency- players were slaves to the owners' whims.
So if they're going to let selfish roiders like McGwire and Clemens in, then I say let poor Joe have his day.
Governor Palin, what do you know about Shoeless Joe that you haven't been fed by spoon? BOTHING, you spineless sack of witch-slashed sluggish sperm? Hey, kids, this is a fact: Spineles Sarah called a witch-doctor to rid her evil gubernatorial campaign of evil spirits.
I love it when Jackson begins walking to the house then looks down and stops when he reaches the edge of the field because he is unable to leave it. Chilling.

Good idea. I would just go crazy to even pitch against Shoeless Joe Jackson, any of them for that matter.

Yeah he did bet, but he still played his ass off in the WS, he led almost all batting and field categories.

This is where I began to really appreciate the acting ability of Ray Liotta. He has since proven his worth time and again.

I love how they included real life baseball legends, like Joe Jackson and Mel Ott and others. I just love this movie.
switchhitter07 3 years ago
still a great movie and all but old research says Joe Jackson was left handed. too late anyway.
crusader037972 3 years ago
Ray Liotta is a lefty, so I wonder why he batted right in the film.

I know, that's why I said it was too late to change it anyway.
crusader037972 2 years ago
Ray Liotta naturally throws lefty, bats righty. The filmmakers acknowledged this as the inverse from Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Il più bel film dedicato al baseball, chi ha praticato questo meraviglioso sport, come me, lo sà.

You know, when you think about it, the little girl is sort of the hero of the movie. She never breaks her faith.
