I think it depends, as far as I know, the damage of an impact comes from the instant deceleration and the resulting G force on your body (I think it'd be several hundred Gs), but if the hand managed to slow the deceleration so that instead of a huge spike in G force, it came over acouple seconds, then you'd likely survive. Probably wouldn't be getting up for a long while afterwards though.

I think it's ironic that Hogart was saying how guns kill and teaching the robot that guns are dangerous, but then in his play he plays with his toy gun, and doesn't realize the mixed message he was giving the robot. by aimin it at him. Good thing Dean grabbed him in time.

we actually talked about that part where he catches the falling boys, and figured it was like catching an egg. if you just put your hand out it would splat, but if you lower your had as you catch it, it's less impact, so the giant catching the falling boys would be softer landing than hitting the snow covered ground with no give.

Heres a little explanation for the Iron Giant's coming to earth just so everyone knows and it should help u understand, in a deleted scene giant has a dream that shows what he was meant to be, a killing machine sent to earth to destroy it with lots of other giants, it got separated and bumped on the head losing mission status. anyways u didnt show the lake part OR the coffee scene =( make a full version -_- but i LOVE this movie its my fave o all time!
