Great news, folks! I now have all the pertinent info re this awesome song. Life is good; it's very very good when you're a fan of the Albion Band!!! And, man, am I ever a fan!!
@foreverspring - I saw them live, supporting Billy Connolly in about 1975 and immediately fell in love with the sound - this is exactly how I remember them - live they had the hall bouncing
@79bigalo -- Wow! Are you the lucky one!! I wish someone would upload more videos of them where they are actually appearing as opposed to just the audio. I'd LOVE to see them doing Uncle Bernard/Albion Sunrise/Jenny Lind as they did it back in the day.
So when you saw them who was in the line-up? Who was playing drums? Although I suppose Michael Stanley was back then or maybe Dave Matticks (or both)!. And I guess John Tams would have been there as well. All those awesome talents!!
Does anyone have the lyrics for this song? If so, could you please tell me where I can find them? I can hear most of the words, but there's some that I am unable to decipher. The musicianship on this recording is simply outstanding, and I can't comment enough about the vocals and glorious harmonies.
Could anyone tell me who is doing lead vocals here? I know the great John Tams is singing backing vocals. I cannot stop listening to this. I love it truly. What giant talent these singers/musicians have!!! I'm overwhelmed.
Awesome simply awesome. Oh, how excited I was to:discover the Albion Band and the many musicians that came and went. Living "across the pond" with no access to English folk/traditional music (plenty of Irish, though) and no Internet it was a major task, but I stumbled upon a record store in England and went on to spend a small fortune in telephone calls and recordings -- and every penny was worth it . I love this music, I love the spell binding talent. This is music worth listening to.
Being an American, we have very limited access to British folk music (Irish folk is much more available on labels like Green Linnet). I was only ever able to get one of the Albion Band's albums, "Battle of the Field." This was just so cool. Thanks for posting this.
real quality music from the heart, not like todays manufactured pop,or money chasing, violence encouraging rap.this is from music lovers, making real quality music.and for that i thank them...
@psimonsen123 That's what sets it apart from top-40 pap. It lasts, unlike the other stuff that's gone in a week and forgotten entirely in a fortnight.
Yes, thank you. It is certainly Phiul Beer and my favourite drummer, Trevor Foster, maintaining his excellent drum beat.
