  • Awesome! I'm going to dye my hair with henna -the bottom layer- and my mum is arab and she knows how to make her own henna (: my question is: I have really dark brown hair, will the dye still turn out red?

  • loll your daughter is sooo beautiful and funny! can you use drug store dyes after using henna?? like just on the roots or all over to brighten it up? aka loreal hair dye x]

  • what are those three yellow bottle things u adding to the henna?

  • do you have light hair? cuz i have dark brown hair and i was wondering if the results would be even nearly as drastic as yours turned out, or at least if there will be a visible change to dark toned hair

  • your daughters beautiful.

  • @TheMimicicu

Mix the last group of stuff in until it's thick yogurt like consistency, and apply. Then wrap your head up with plastic wrap and maybe a winter hat you don't care if it gets ruined, and let that sit on your head 4-8 hours. My first time doing this, I went to bed at 10am and woke up at 6 to rinse it out. I covered my pillow with old towels in case I dripped at all.

  • @TheMimicicu

I used 300g Yemen Henna (from Mehandi . com)

3 8oz lemon juice bottles (the kind next to the lemons in the produce area)

    water until correct consistency.

Wait 8-12 hours for dye release, be sure it's covered with plastic wrap while it sits.

Add in a little tea with cinnamon-like spices (brew it up and let it cool to warm ~ hot could cause issues with the dye)

Add any extra spices you may like how they smell with the henna (mostly to make it smell better)

    Honey or agave nectar

  • Could u help me out please?

I bought black henna from NOORANI ,im not sure if I should use it because it doesnt have ingreidents listed and it doesnt say anything on the box about it being 100% or pure. I dont know if i should use it on my hair, what do u think?

  • @rebellipstick

It says black on it, so that makes me initially think that it's been mixed with something, and without ingredients to say it was mixed with indigo, I would assume it is a compound henna.

SO, if you want to use it, just don't color over it with anything but pure henna products or it could react on a chemical level and leave you with different colors.

Also, if you've colored your hair with chemicals and the color is still visible on your hair right now, it could react badly.

  • @rebellipstick

So, you can try it, but results may not be exact. You may have to wait for it to grow out or use 100% henna products until it's grown out, if you want other color.

  • did you get the punjabi prime color?

  • @kawaiixxcakes

I got the Yemen, from mehandi . com

  • Your daughter is sooo funyy! My daughter is 11, and your daughter and mine talk the same, the wording and everything is the same :)

  • well you've made a good job in da clip ... loved it really ...but I think U notice that henna dries the hair so it's very good recipe if U've got an oily scalp but if not U've to make oil mask to ur hair after it ...& please DON'T think about using vinegar ever in Ur hair coz it simply destroy it & make fall down :(((

  • There are different ways to mix the henna based on your hair style/type. I have pretty normal hair and the acidity in the lemon juice was necessary. Some people prefer apple cider vinegar instead (it is gentler than white) for the same reasons.

Also, lots of people use baking soda and white vineger mixed with water to wash their hair instead of shampoo, and do so with success.

So, avoid vinegar if you have DRY hair, maybe. But for the average to oily it should be fine.

  • Actually, vinegar is fine for dry hair, too. I do apple cider vinegar rinses sometimes to calm my itchy scalp, and it has the added benefit of making my dry, chemically damaged hair really shiny.

LOVE this henna method, by the way. I quit chemical dyes a year ago and have been using BAQ henna with the lemon juice/slow release method since then. I'm never going back. My hair has never felt of looked better.

  • *felt OR looked better... :)

  • your little girl is cute. Shes no camera shy

  • May be it's a bit late to say this, but just a hint - next time if you don't have enough lemon juice, put some vinegar instead of the water. that way the mix will keep it's acidic quality, even though the vinegar is less acidic that the lemon juice. That will give you even brighter, shinier color.

  • henna is green

  • LOL, why yes, yes it is. It's a crushed and powdered plant leaf that secretes reddish hue when mixed with an acidic liquid. ;)

  • i though it was brown or red lol is that 100% henna

  • lol I love your daughter! "I'M AN ARTIST!" hehe. kids :-) your after photos look great!

  • hi, i've my brown hair and need a little blond hair , how henna may helpme? thx for your video ;D

    maybe mixing henna + camomile(manzanilla)?

  • sweet daughter :-) , do you know how to mix henna for deep Black coloring ?

  • I'd go to henna for hair the website, and read up on indigo. I believe using a pure henna, then a pure indigo mix when that rinses out, is the way to get a nice looking long lasting blue-black. They will have more specific instructions there. :)

  • thanks bekajoi for your fast reply..which website you mean ? can you give me the link of it ? actually I am a man with black hair but want to cover naturally some grey hair :-)

  • It may or may not let me type it here, lol. hennaforhair[dot]com ~ Once there, look at the mixes page, for instructions on how to get certain colors. :) You can purchase the right products through their sister site mehandi[dot]com, as well.

  • Hello,

What is the origin color of your hair? Is it dark brown? I used henna as you did it. I used the mixture of lemon juice, white vinegar, paprika but it did not give me deep red color. I am wondering if the henna was good or not. My hair color is dark brown but it did not become red at all.

    I appreciate your help.

  • Can henna only be used as a hair dye? I don't want to have to dye my natural hair color...

  • Not sure I follow your question. If mixed differently, it can be used as a body art product, like a semi-permanent tattoo.

  • What I mean is, I don't want to dye my hair, I just want the shine and texture affect of the henna. Like, is there maybe a natural or clear henna so it won't color my hair?

  • If you just want a conditioning effect, without the red, try Cassia instead of henna. It will take brown hair and make it shiny brown hair. It is often used to put life back into blonde hair, and make it more golden, but on darker hair it just offers that deep conditioning, and adds shine.

  • where did you get the henna powder?

  • I got it from mehandi[dot]com, or if you go to hennaforhair[dot]com you'll see links, and lots of information :)

  • I love the daughter interaction! Can't wait to henna again tomorrow :)

  • Hi there :)

I was searching for hair-Hennaed people ;) And found your informative video!

    Your hair looks amazing!

I wanted to ask you something about the lemon juice-didnt it hurted having it for so long on the head?iam going to colour my hair with henna too and prepared the henna right now with half lemon/grapefruit juice.

And tomorrow i add some red tea. But iam wondering if lemon juice is too aggressive i used so much-i mean it has mashed potatoe consistency but im still wondering ;)

  • The lemon on my head didn't bother me at all. I've used plain lemon before, to lighten in summer, and that was irritating, but this was fine. :) Good luck!

  • Thanks a lot for your answer :)

Iam going to use it now-Pretty excited how it will turn out on my hair:)

  • I have heard wonderful things about henna cant wait to try it.. ~Thanks for the video~

  • Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.. just about to henna mine...
