Ok people, I'm not one of these youtubers who goes round claiming everything is fake, but i work in post production television in the UK and therefore understand what can and can't be done with special effect. I can 100% guarantee you this isn't a genuine video. You can clearly see the ball speed up and change direction just before he catches it!! Its a pretty good effort though!!

It's not just by waving a little with your hand that makes the pain go away, u need to go to the hospital for that kind of injury.
The batter doesn't even look at the hit. Pitcher is not looking. If you are a normal player you always look at where the ball goes to perfect hitting.

As per mentionned 53sotiris, if you watch carefully between 0:06 and 0:07 you can see the ball...
Look at the hip height of the batter, about one meter to the right. You will see a white trace from the true ball. Make pause and play a few times between 0:06 ET 0:07. It's the same at the end of 0:31.

This is fake because when he catches the ball his hand or arm don't move back any from the impact. A ball moving that fast would still have a descent impact on a bare hand. his hand/arm doesn't look affected by the catch at all.

Ummm, no. Fake. This is not set up right for batting practice. No cage around the plate as required by MLB during pre game BP. Pitcher is on the mound. with no screen in front, and neither the batter or pitcher even looks that direction after the ball almost supposedly hits the reporter and he makes what would have been an amazing catch? Plus, no branding from whatever network this is on the video? If anyone would have caught this on video, they would make damn sure it was there for publicity.

@981Butterfly average human reaction speed is .190 secs. at 0:34 he sees and catches the ball in that same second. he does not see the ball untill 80% of that second is passed. which leaves us with .200 sec...... even if he has .150 reaction speed which is the highest reaction speed a human can have, (which i doubt he has but lets just suppose he does) it takes more than .050 second to move your arm which makes this video FAKE!! have a nice day and think logically :)

@981Butterfly It definitely looks fake and makes sense that it is for an advert (just like the LeBron James one for Powerade). Pretending to hurt his hand and having his team mates shouting "Are you kidding me?" can quite easily be staged.
Also, if this was real he wouldn't have made such a blatantly casual comment like that after catching it; he would have been pretty shocked. Instead it makes him look pretty damn cool for an advert if he's just like 'Yeah whatever, keep it on the pitch guys'

As per mentionned 53sotiris, if you watch carefully between 0:06 and 0:07 you can see the ball...
Look at the hip height of the batter, about one meter to the right. You will see a white trace from the true ball. Make pause and play a few times between 0:06 ET 0:07. It's the same at the end of 0:31.

You idiots know nothing of baseball...because of the batter hitting a line drive the oppo way it tailed straight towards the reporter and the adrenaline rush added to the reflexes of Longoria caused him to grab it. And no it would not make him fall back or anything the ball didnt have that much velocity. It was hit hard but ive tried to bare hand balls like that before and it just bounced off my hand and internally bruised a bone :P as it probably did Longoria.

This is fake because when he catches the ball his hand or arm don't move back any from the impact. A ball moving that fast would still have a descent impact on a bare hand. his hand/arm doesn't look affected by the catch at all.

Uhm, you can actually see the ball go straight, and that the batter THROWS another ball at Longoria and the reporter. Look closely for the batters arm.

Ummm, no. Fake. This is not set up right for batting practice. No cage around the plate as required by MLB during pre game BP. Pitcher is on the mound. with no screen in front, and neither the batter or pitcher even looks that direction after the ball almost supposedly hits the reporter and he makes what would have been an amazing catch? Plus, no branding from whatever network this is on the video? If anyone would have caught this on video, they would make damn sure it was there for publicity.
