  • great film Revolver and Stratham is smokin hot in it.. ! just so u know..!

  • A good film about ego sybolism is revolver by guy ritchie. The standard shoot em up with the ego playing the main role.

It disguises its thoughts as your thoughts. Its feeling as your feelings. You think its you. People have no clue that they

are in prison. They don’t know there is an ego. They don’t know the distinction. ~ Leonard Jacobson

  • Nice :-))) ... and the single biggest scam is: "I am You!" Steven Hayes.

  • Peoples Need To Protect Their Own EGOs Knows No Bounds. They Will Lie, Cheat, Steal, Kill; Do Whatever It Takes To Maintain, What We Call, EGO Boundaries.

  • revolver.. nice -.-

  • To some extent I would agree. We do project the threat of agression onto others, it kept our ancestors alive to make the assumption rather than to walk up to, say, a tiger and go "Ooo cute kittie, I'm gonna pet it". However, there are objective threats. Try telling someone with a knife to your throat that "You are a projection of My ego"

Very practical, that's something I might also say. Same with Buddhism. There is a certain element that defies the reasoning, and that is what the Buddha called the Middle Way. In between the two extremes of thought but having a physical reality, which does in fact exist. You will get hit by that car if you don't cross safely regardless of any ego projections. I think what we're saying here is thought without a firm basis external to ourselves, without the tiger or the car.

  • @JanisXAChambers

What is at work when one makes a profile on a webpage and doesn't upload a photo?

  • @JanisXAChambers

The flaw in that thought process is that we would not ascribe "cute little kitty" to a tiger so your conclusions or point is moot.

  • Epictetus would be proud...

  • @emblemOFbeing

He said what Buddhism would say. It's universal thought actually and appears everywhere. It is also inside each of us. Ego then is the opposite to that in that it creates when there actually exists nothing. It is quite frightening to the average person to consider an existence without ego. It's like trying to imagine not being. Imagining "no self" or not existing after death, or no consciousness, would freak the average person out. No consciousness = no self = we don't exist :(

  • @pierresplace Actually without the ego, we can't exist.

  • @elbanydaer

It's understandable that someone would say that. There are always individuals on both sides of the issue. However, that is just one more perception. Why can't the environment and others "just be" without evaluation, judgement, categorization, etc? Why can't things "just be?" Because, the individual cannot jus let things be. That's why "to live and let live" is so difficult for the average individual to accept. They have to order" the world around them to understand it.

  • @pierresplace Besides what you have mentioned, the ego also serves the purpose to maintain the body. Ego feeds the body, clothes it, makes sure it is being treated a certain way (healthy or unhealthy both are the ego's doing).

Our Essence or Spirit does not need the body and would not bother to keep alive.

  • @pierresplace Every time we talk or write, it is done through the ego. Spirit or Essence would not bother since it is complete. Not only negative things come from the ego, also many things we consider necessary for life. Without the ego there would be no books, no libraries, no computers...., none of that would be necessary.

It is hard to fully grasp the ego. We have been conditioned to see the ego from one perspective only. A person really looking to live with a small ego will be a hermit.

  • @elbanydaer

Great, I've been looking for fifty acres in the woods. Know of any good listings? LOL. Small or large who cares. Just like this conversation, I'm tired of it already.

  • @pierresplace That is the ego talking...

  • @elbanydaer You hit it right on the nail, Buddha said, I have conquered the greatest enemy of all, I have conquered my own EGO" He said that 2500 yrs aog too!

  • @elbanydaer I see it as a primitive animal instinct for survival. It does not have to be truthful, compassionate, or even right. It just has to motivate you to survive at all costs. I -ME-MINE

It manifests itself as the dominate role in all activities even when being quiet. The voice in your head saying, I knew that, I could have done it better etc.

  • @woodfixit simply ignore that voice. It is only a thought that can be freed to move on....or be replaced.

Be aware of your thoughts and consciously either entertain or ignore them. Let that be YOUR choice. Not the blind choice of your ego-mind.
