I got the impression that the "poor old woman" would curse someone for not holding a door open for her; she damned an underling who couldn't help her and was just doing her job.
Actually I prefer movies of the 70's, 80's and 90's. The Decade 2000-09 was very weak BUT it had decent horror films (Wrong Turn, Cabin Fever, Switchblade Romance aka High Tension, Wilderness, The Descent, Tamara, Orphan, House of Wax, Reeker, The Ruins, Splinter, Terminal Invasion, Kill Theory etc)
Drag Me To Hell was too short but still very cool film. Alison Lohman showed great acting and Lorna Raver was stunning as Sylvia Ganush.
Also, justin long was actually pretty good in this movie, so no clue wat ur talking bout, and get over ur crush on the main chick.. watching this review makes me wanna puke more than the movie did... stop acting like u have a clue on waat ur talking about.. sober up and watch ur review again, then go drown in shame. THIS MOVIE SUCKED----AND SO DOES THIS REVIEW
Okay, this movie was actually pretty eerie up until the point where she gets attacked in the garage. then, i actually found myself laughing all the way through. THIS MOVIE SUCKED!!!! the demon randomly gay dancing, the shitty effects, and what pissed me off the most was "you shamed me, now i condemn u to hell" 1) u shamed urself, she did nothin to u 2)is not getting a loan enough to put someone in hell forever-- i wanted to sucker punch the old toothless bitch in the jaw
What I thought was shocking about this movie was how gaaaaaaayyyy it was!! I give this a strong 0. It was waaaaaayyy too cheezy and the acting was bad! You mustve been high when you saw this!! I didn't walk out because i thought it was scary which I didn't but because I thought it was terrible!! Sam raimi sucks at horror films!!
Yeah, they had a gimmick called Tokavision where they pumped weed smoke into the theater. I might have thought differently otherwise. It was at a theater with a menu so, I bet they cleaned up.
One too many beers? After watching this film with a few of my friends, we all decided that Drag Me To Hell was the worst movie we have ever seen; in no way am I exaggerating.
"Horror moves has been in the dumps" and with this movie it remains. I guess you guys needed a movie to pick as a "great, redeemed movie" because me & my buds watched it and it was mind blowing in the first 15 mins then it was dragged straight to hell. This was in fact one of the worst horror films we have seen. The CGI, SUCKED, most acting really sucked. The green puke got old. A huge boo. 1-10 My bud gave it a -1 & I give it a 2. That movie seriously SUCKED. Ahh you liked the chick in it..ahh
i loved how the old lady just came out at the most random moments xD i mean, you knew when something was gonna happen, but i jumped a bunch of times. haha
I am truly a horror movie fan, and I have to say that DMTH, was refreshing and fun, it did have a good amount of jumps, and it is actually spooky at times... by the way Justin Long's performance in the end made me feel like the movie was realistic for a split second, 4/5 for me too. And yes In a time when Hollywood keeps spitting out remakes of The Ring, and The Grudge DMTH was a breath of fresh air... YES!!!!
Maybe my expectations were set too high, but imo the movie was just a lackluster pg-13 thrill ride. Army of Darkness however will always be the epitome of the horror/comedy/adventure genre.
Okay. Drag me to Hell, predictable and just a giant middle finger! 5/10
And Spider-Man 3 didn't suck! It followed the same sequel formula. A great 1st movie, a better or equally good 2nd movie and a not as good but satisfactory 3rd movie
I got a horror movie of mine that is a attempt at being original. I'm not trying to imitate Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, The Exorcist, Evil Dead, etc.
personally i think the element of horror was not sustained throughout this movie and the plot is so ridiculous i.e the old lady gypsie's motives, the physics: eyeballs popping out of the head, its not reasonable! im not sure if its meant to be black humour or something, but if it was serious when the chick was fighting the old lady in the car that was the most retarded scene ever
although, christine got what she deserved at the end, but it wouldve been a better twist if her boyfriend died
Some parts the movie was funny as hell, like when the main character stapled the gypsies eye. And other parts it's scary as shit and had me kicking at the screen with my friends. First scary movie thought I actually got scared at for a while
Drag Me To Hell was a awesome flick, It was Sam Raimi coming home,,, If you like the Evil Deads and Army of Darkness you will like Drag Me to Hell if you didn't then you just would not have gotten it.. soo yeah.
This Story Reminds me of Jesus (Son of the Most High GOD) and the Cursed Man. Legions of Evil Spirits want to Drag this Cursed Man to Hell. When this Legion met the Son of the Most High GOD, the Evil Spirits went into Pigs instead of goats. These Pigs immediately died, as they were Drag to Hell!

People actually liked this movie? man, I thought I was watching a low budget movie with horrible actors. I actually thought haunting in connecticut was better, even though it sucked too
it was awesome.. the sound effect and graphic just amazed.. but i'm quite disappointed the ending of the movie... why christine have to die.. ??? so sad.. it's not her fault..
Great horror movie. Probably the best US horror movie in at least 5 years. Amazingly Raimi wrote it right after Army of Darkness and it was sitting on his desk for 17 years before he had a chance to make it.
I agree! It's definitely the best theatrically released US horror movie in that long... they're might have been a couple of DVD releases that I liked as much : )
hey at the end of the movie the boyfriend has the button if the owner of the button has to die and go to hell doesn't that make him next seeing as how he owns it? like wont the sequil take place as the hole is closing up?
Sorry, but I would have to quit my job and spend all of my time on the internet to keep on top of the mountain of remakes coming out in the next two years - Mord
A good rule of thumb is to assume any particular horror movie from the 80s is being remade unless you know otherwise. Sadly you'll be right most of the time.
The first jump scare was the result of a handkerchief. Sam Raimi is very good at building tension by diverting your attention so you dont expect the scares. Its not Evil Dead but it was good, especially since everything that comes out now seems to be watered down remakes and bad sequels. Awesome review on your end, its good to see normal people who just enjoy movies, keep the reviews coming.
Thanks. You're right, it's definitely not Evil Dead good, but damn if it isn't the freshest mainstream horror movie in recent memory. And it's good to see Raimi still has similar sensibilities to his early days even after all of the success.
A return to Evil Dead - sounds promising. Been keeping an avid eye on this one. I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations. Your right about your theory of it's potential success - if it is, it might at the least dent the horror remake juggernaut and get some more original works out there. Good to see the film got a good wrap :)

I love Drag Me To Hell it shows Raimi should Return to Horror.
But I still have a couple of Problems like The CGI Effect with the Anvil Scene,
The CGI Jump Scare Demon Face and alot of stuff thats just out of Evil Dead 2.
But this is still way better then Saw 82819 or another Re-Make.

I'd like something like a new ultra-gore horror movie to come out and not like 2 seconds of a headshot wound- something more like Braindead
But it's tough cause the MPAA gets squeamish about movies that have more than a gallon of blood in it
