  • Does anybody know what they did with the ferris wheel or tumble bug did they destroy them or try to refubush them?

  • @sthjrzycub1 - pretty sure they are still there. I really hope they can restore the tumble bug and give it a home somewhere.

  • @rcbif101 Chippewa lake has been bought. Luckly its going to be repaired.

  • @rcbif101 but the big dipper might not reopen.

  • @rollercoastermaniac2 - ya, probably not, as it is completely demolished and gone, lol.

  • @rcbif101 good news, the big dipper has been bought, and is being refurbished! the wild mouse is staying and reopening in 2015!

  • @rollercoastermaniac2 - You got a source? Pretty sure they bulldozed the big dipper. All the wood was rotten anyways. I dont think there was much to salvage?

  • @rcbif101 my freinds friends ather (also my friend) bought the big dipper. some of the salvagable pieces would be moved and the carts were in a storage

  • in buffalo we had something like Chippewa Lake Amusement Park but its gone now it was crystal beach. but the comet roller coaster still lives R.I.P crystal beach and Chippewa Lake

  • oh is the roller coaster actually gone now???? :( thats sad

  • There have been rumors that the "swinging cages" ride was a "homemade" hillbilly style ride, and was never mass-produced or available for sale.I always wondered if there was any "personal items" left behind in any of the buildings?.Old 8-track tapes, or pay stubs from one of the workers?maybe a diary from one of the workers. Also, I wonder if anyone checked into the "history" of the abandoned cars there. Were they stolen cars that were dumped there? DUI's? illegally dumped junkers?

  • Someone, BEFORE they demolished the site, should have done a digital scan of the entire area, so that a video game based "virtual tour" could have been made.Imagine how many movies could be filmed using CGI even after the area is cleared.historic references as to exactly where every board of the coasters were, angles, curves, etc.In case someone wants to rebuild a certain coaster/building, etc.Imagine being able to "virtually" walk through the park, or recreate what it was like when it was open!

  • Those "wheels and cogs" @ about :40 are now located outside the gates in front of the museum......

  • i think the ride at 0:26 is still operatinal lol

  • it's so sad!

  • That would be a pretty cool play to go paintballing.

  • ok kiss you

  • im huessing a torando or a big storm destroyed all the stuff there

  • @BlakStar321 - nope, just being abandoned for 30+ years. The day it closed, all the rides were perfectly operational.

  • @rcbif101 why did it close?

  • @rcbif101

    why it's closed?

  • @BlakStar321 Nope a forest fire burned 3 buildings down a hotel the fun house and a ballroom for dancing teenagers started the forest fire

  • Wow! 30 years!!! Mother Nature is one mean beast! Sad to see what was such a neat place go to crap like that. I would have liked to visit the park a few years ago before they cleared most of it out. Good job on your video!

  • i've been there. the people that live next to it are really friendly. they showed me an easy path through the fence. and it's beautiful. i highly recommend checking it out.

  • @yeahman158 - there is nothing left worth checking out.

  • @rcbif101 pardon moi, but i just went two weeks ago and there are still several things there. the big roller coaster and the ball room might be gone but there's a lot more to it than that. the wild mouse is still there, the outdoor stage, the boat, the ferris wheel, the tumblebug, it's all still there.

  • @yeahman158 - ya, that's true, but it's pretty gnarly since it's all rooted up by the developer. I cant stand to see it like that. And IMHO the coaster was the coolest part of the park. If you went uninvited, you have my props! The new owner seems really anal about security. Also not as easy to go unnoticed with the lack of trees.

  • @rcbif101 Yes there actually is there is a ferris wheel, ballroom,Tumble Bug and TONS more

  • 0:22 lol. Holy shit.

When you say, 'it's all gone now' do you mean that they tore down the ruins since then?

  • @foxxyloxx the only thing left is the tumblebug, ferris wheel, and some debris from a few building that were bulldozed. The coaster was flattened unceremoniously by the developer without alerting the media ;(

  • Great photos and music! That was worth a second viewing.

  • can anyone tell me the last time this park was open for business the last day of operation

  • I can't believe they tore it down -.-

  • how did it get abandon?

  • he will sell the property for condos or homes, because its all residential around there.....check it on Google earth.........

  • 1:04 it's awesome how it looks edited, the woods are all grey and the car is red :DD

  • I snuck in there...it was kind of creepy, but cool.

  • SAD!!??!! ITS SO SAD

  • sad :(

  • Lets rebuild it!

  • I was in the woods a few years back and me and my friend found a car buried upside down the only thing showing was the tires,I dug some and sure as shit I found the under-belly of the car.So it must of been a whole car I had no camera

  • @TheRalphus666 Creepy-what if someone is in there?

  • @ldylkr Thats what I was thinking....in the trunk probably

  • sadly the park land was sold and all rides are to be bulldozed but one (the bug) ride witch is very old and rare mite get saved this land will now be a shoping mall just what we fucking need another shoping mall where wives go while there husbands are working they go there to piss cry and bitch how no one fucks them right no more this park should have been saved soon after it shut down back in 1987

  • @dillwilly2 They should try to rebuild it to a new amusment park not a nother freaken mall there are enough malls around here

  • Theres a pretty creepy abandoned amusment park somewhere in the poconoes. Anyone know what it is?

  • @AxcelKaru you mean bushkill park? it isnt nessicarilly abandonded... well sort of... its in easton

  • can you get arrested for tresspassing here?

  • @randymcreagle yes....

  • woah. I need to do this, too. you have some good pictures!

and the music is pretty eerie... well, when I think of amusement parks this is the song I hear... made my freak out a little xD

  • i was fishing out on the lake and stumbled upon this amusement park on accident so i walked in and there was an eerie feeling that overcame me. all of the history and the abandoned buildings and rides sent a chill down my spine. it really is a shame that the owner of this property let such a wonderful part of northeastern ohio history turn into what it is today. they should try and salvage some of the rides and what not as a tribute to the park

  • Thankyou, I thoroughly enjoyed that! You can see where ghost stories originate from can't you?

  • Comment removed

  • @bignarant

It's one of the very first things stated in the video........

  • I went here with my parents a few times back in the sixties. I assume it was much cheaper than Cedar Point....

  • C'est vraiment triste

  • hey, does anyone know of a video here on youtube where someone goes into an old abandoned theme park and finds that theres still electricity flowing there and tries to activate one or more of the rides to see what happens??? kinda like going into an abandoned houses garage and starting an old car thats been sitting for 20 - 30 years. just curious.

if so, message me back on the name of the video. thanks ;)

  • Great pictures :)

But a little complaint. U change to quickly between the pics.. :) Its because I want to offend u but would be more pleasent to look at if there where more time for each picture :)

  • that was an amazing video man.

  • thanks, appreciate it!

  • @rcbif101 what caused the theme park to close?

  • lack of attendance as far as I know

  • @rcbif101 such a shame that no one ever considered restoring/saving it. seemed like a fun place at one time

  • its just odd to have a place of fun and joy suddenly be abandoned and left to grow over ,,,jus a lil freaky especially if u came across by accident!

  • there are many abandoned theme parks on this world. But this was the crazyest i've ever seen !

It's abandoned for 30 years but looks like 100 Years

  • I want to ride these rides, now

  • man whats with the cars there they arent like most abandoned cars just left to rot they are completely destroyed! how and why does that happen and an amusement park?

  • so cool, i love the look of abandoned theme parks

  • i hate seeing abandoned thibngs it just looks bad

  • cool it would be fun to connect something to the old rollercoaster tracks and go down the hill...it would be scarrier than a normal rollercoaster

  • its already all torn down...........their puting a hotel their.......

  • really :( i think abandoned places are freaky...but interesting..and tearing them down is taking away history.... which is kinda sad...

  • it would all turn to dust and corrossion anyways

  • : \

  • creeeepy.

  • That so sad!

  • i hate seeing rides looking like that

  • probably be fun to go on the rides now

  • looks very safe i might want to ride those rides

  • it does doesnt it

  • My cousin was from Wadsworth and I from Huntington WV

When I use visit him, he and i would go there in the late 60's. We were in high school. Even though I see the dilapidation I can still hear the ghosts of children's voices along the park trails screaming and laughing.

When he would come to WV we would go to Camden Park. Camden was about the same size as Chippewa and is still open today unchanged. You can youtube to get an idea what this park was like in its day.

  • @mossrun cool maybe pepole in the near future will say that property will be huanted

  • I'm going to Ohio next month, would love to have a tour round there. I guess I'm gonna be too late though!

  • Perfect for a silent hill game lol

  • ...or a Carn Evil

  • I really want to go see this... so there are tours on Saturdays? How much longer will it be there?

  • not really sure, I'd say a month or two

  • yes, 11-5 and I dont know, my guess 1 month or so

  • Nice Job! I was just there today!

  • does anyone know why it shut down so fast???

  • they r tearing it down right now

  • I believe it was because of low ticket sales, bankruptcy and an obscure location (far from the closest interstate).

  • this isnt creepy, this is just plain sad

  • dude your right strawberry fields forever

  • haha i live near it

  • I was just there. that place is flippin awesome!

They tore down all those trees tho! ):

  • I love across the universe (:

  • If anyone is interested exploring any abandoned parks around central PA, let me know.

  • That was a fun place--i porked this fat chick behind the big dipper, people on the coaster seen us as they flew by.

  • does anyone know when the movie is coming out?

  • I hope that theme parks that people love don't become abandoned.

  • they have, geauga lake

  • It's being built into a water park. Sea World is on the same property but it is still abandoned.

  • I worked there 1968 + 1969. First time I got drunk was at the park. I was the slide operator. Fell in love with a hottie from Fairfiield, Iowa, Kathy H. My life was the park for those two years. I lived in the bathhouse, bought + ate off meal tickets. danced in the ballroom, then would help clean it the next day. 68-69 were the hippies years so imagine life was a blast. In the 70's I lived in Chipp. You'd hear the music from concerts all the way to Chippewa Rd north of the park a mile away

  • like Ri's amusement park Rock Point accept the stuff was taken down or sold

  • a collector took the coaster cars of the "Big Dipper" out of the park for restoration

At least they're in good hands now...

  • wow all that there still stand, however, sin of those trees

  • omg, thats really sad... where is it?

  • Chippewa Lake in Medina Ohio

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much! I REALLY want to go there before it is completely gone.

  • glad you liked it! thanks

  • that is sad to see that

  • It is sad to see an amusement park gone but it sure is interesting to see it in this state, How many times have you seen a roller coaster track with trees growing through it? I hope this place is just left for Ms. Nature to reclame everything. I mean that in a good way. It would really suck to see it plowed over and POS condos or paper houses put in it's place which more than likely is inevatible.

  • it started at 1878 and then closed for good at 1978

  • thats fucked

  • its sad look at the things that once brought people joy now in pain...

  • Very nice job! The music sold me. Look forward to seeing more.

  • Why did it close down?

  • lack of attendance

  • its kinda sad

  • Geronimo the last owner was said to be a mobster that only bought the park and ran it until it got to be to expensive to repair, It was supposed open back up aftera few years but the writeoffs maxed out and the woner feel ill...all this was the local scuttle-butt

  • That Vid is sad because....well I live close to it and to see it torn down is really sad.....Rite?....Oh, rcbif101 is that pic from an AirShow?I wuz at 1 last week....still sad to the park (sigh)

  • yeah bro that sucks, this place would be a good mission for call of duty lol,but what i still research is the chernobyl disaster that place is a freaking ghost town dude its creepy

  • when was it closed down ?

  • watch the video

  • ha ha their is a hole in the front of the fence you can just go pop rite in if you so wish to lol

  • I loved seeing the pictures but it makes me sad to see. I spent many happy summers in this amusement park. It's hard to believe this is the same place.

  • I did too--lots of fun memories.

  • They are currently(August 4 thru-25) filming a movie at this park. It is very cool location as degree of dicrepitude could never be reproduced.

The movie is called Closed For The Season about 2 young people trapped in an abandoned park as the park struggles to return to life.

I play the sad trumpet playing clown in the band and is was a blast to film. It is a shame man will finish off what mother nature has started but the park was eerily alive to me.

  • do you know when they will start demolishing?

  • Don't know when.

  • Excellent! I just read about it in the Medina Gazette. I went there dozens of times growing up in the 50's and went to an Octoberfest there in the 70's. It's always been a creepy place,it was scary even when it wasn't decaying. Can't wait to see the movie!

  • Your video is really good, btw. The photos of the cottages are really creepy. In the 30's, people would spend summers there and they had big bands in the ballroom. I've been looking for a photo of the Fun House with no luck. Anybody found any?

  • the fun house is destroyed, not much if anything left..

  • Thanks--I haven't been able to find anything, not even old shots of it. It was the first one I ever went into as a kid, would just like to see a photo of it to see if I remember it through my haze of fear. LOL

  • its just too bad they cant repair it

  • Is it getting demolished now? i saw this on a site:

"31. 2002. In addition to Swinging Gyms cars removed, piles of dirt and new waterline markers are present. Guess it was nothing, as the park went unchanged until 2008 when the wrecking ball arrived..."

  • This place would be a good horror movie. Like Blair Witch or some killer on the loose. It creeps me out that those things are still standing.

  • it wasnt closed because it wasnt worth it , check out your history before you open your mouth, it was closed because of a fire that destroyed everything. It is now going to be turned into a resort

  • accually your wrong. It was closed due to lack of attendance and the buildings were later burned when the park was abondoned due to vandals

  • That area will be raised to the ground, and redone, Chippewa Lake will have an area to be proud of.

  • this place was abanded for along time next to the enchanted forest in maryland.

  • How sad. :(

  • me and my dad went their like 2 years ago and sae the tumble bug

  • Good Pictures. Who sings this version of the song?

  • It's from the movie across the universe

  • we should go there and repair it

  • yea :P

  • ha ha i wonder if they would mind i want to go up their with a weed wacker and some paint and saws

  • what happen to it?

  • it got closed, because it wasnt worth running it

  • yes it was it is the oldest theme park in america

  • Disney was the very first theme/amusement park ever in America. I already did the research. Disney opened in 1955

  • Chippewa Lake Amusement Park was opened in 1876

  • Where did you hear this? I have a 100th year anniversary cup from the park and it says 1878-1978. Maybe ground was broke in 76 for construction, but you'll find sites say 1878 for the opening year.

  • oh wait yeah your right lol i just miscalculated

  • there is one at kennywood outside of pittsburg PA and they call it the turtle.

  • We need to save the tumble bug and take it to Kings Island

  • I wish! It was in rough shape though. There's only a few in the world!

  • Me too,Tumble Bugs look very fun but Ive never ridden one!

  • nice video man
