Sublime! I dedicate this harp version of Clair de Lune to My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife (in Heaven since Nov. 21/22, 2010). MY BARBRA ROSE, this other-worldly-beautiful melody was (and remains) our favorite Classical composition. I played the version by The London Philharmonic (conducted by Bernard Herrmann) many times for us while you were with me in this life. I pray that you can hear this from your mansion and rose garden in Heaven. On Valentine's Day 2012 I tell the world I love you forever!
Seriously, stop taking care of mistakes, he is an amazing musician and that's all what matters. We musicians are afraid/feared of doing mistakes because of such a behaviour. He is the proof someone can do the most impressive music while doing some few mistakes (which are nothing).
I think that is one of the most beautiful performances of Clair de Lune I have ever heard. And just beautiful technique! I tell all of my students to watch your videos for inspiration!
I can't beleive how hard this piece must be on the harp. His feet must be stompin like crazy on those pedals. You do notice some notes edited away in the transcribation but hardly noticeable and wonderful performance!
Hmm, very interesting to hear, considering the original piano arrangement is generally played "quasi arpa". Very ethereal, but lacks the resonance of the piano.
@thatmoviechick4 Is he? Nowhwere does it say what nationality he is or where he was born. Not even on the official website! I wonder why his early (and even present) life is such a mystery. Any details?
@bozomal I don't think he made a mistake. There are notes missing in the transcription to make it possible to play.. not many though. This is amazing.
Actually, the modern pedal harp IS a fully chromatic instrument, but the accidentals have to play accomplished by shifting 7 foot pedals around, so it really is more difficult to play highly chromatic music on the pedal harp.
Hi. The more I watch of his playing the more inspirational. I had instructors in the French Method as well as Salzedo...I would say he is of the French School. My former teacher, a strict Salzedo...thought he was too much of a showman, but I truly believe he is playing and deeply feeling the music and that is why he plays so wonderfully. I decided I don't like "stiff" looking harpists. They look robotic. What do you think?
yeah! I was in some concerts and in my class some of the students play a little bit unglamorous! I think the feelings are better than a perfect technique! But of course he has a very good technique!
I agree with you completely....would people rather look at a "robot" playing each note techniquelly perfectly ALL the time or someone who you can see has filled up his whole body and soul with the music. This is not to say he is making mistakes...he isn't, but I have seen too many harpists who are so into holding your arms up and hold your elbows a certain way, etc., etc., that it takes all the joy out of playing.
Wow! What a beautiful video this is. I just love the sound of the harp. It is so soothing and relaxing to the mind, body and soul. This wonderfull piece is one of my favorites in the world. I'm very pleased to have found a fellow youtuber who enjoys lovely classics such as Debussy, Bach and many others. Many thanks to you my friend. :)

What is a piano but a harp on its side struck with felt hammers?
The harp is very resonant and due to direct manual sound generation, has a wider dynamic.
