You know despite myths and legends and... well hollywood movies, in real life history royal families have almost never made their apprarence on the battlefield itself. Sure they appeared to encourage the troops from time to time, like Bush in Iraq, but by the time the battle actually started, they were long gone. Kings who actually died in battle are extremely rare, like in the entire human history no more than 8-9 guys.

@ewed2 : The reason why crossbows were overpowered is that they were relatively easy to use if you were strong enough to pull back the string when reloading. A peseant with a few weeks of training would have a fair chance of killing the best equipped knight or nobleman of the time. In 1139 Pope Leo II tried to outlaw the usage of Crossbow against christians

I wish the next Mount&Blade game would be back at Calradia, and the siege battles would be like this so u could direct more siege weapons than siege tower, and really would have to carry the ladders and ramps to the walls, while catapults and ballistas are softening the defenders!
